Going there just caused trouble! If you hadn't stirred up all that drama today, I wouldn't have become a laughingstock!"
Watching Zander shift all the blame onto her, Queenie forcefully yanked her arm free.
She glared at him with absolute contempt and spat out, word by word, "Haven't you ever heard the saying? A strong man lifts his partner up. Only an incompetent loser blames everything on his woman!"
After delivering that scornful remark, she stepped into the atelier.
Zander followed her inside. "You still haven't answered me. What exactly is going on between you and Stanley?"
It seemed he wouldn't let this go until she gave him a satisfactory answer.
"Nothing is going on. What could possibly be going on? He's the CEO of a massive conglomerate. He only stood up for me because he couldn't stand watching your behavior. Do you actually think he has a crush on me?"
Her rhetorical question made Zander pause. That did make sense.
He let out a relieved laugh. "I was just so angry I lost my head. I was asking stupid questions. Stanley can have any woman he wants, why would he..."
He ran a disdainful gaze over her. "Only a blind man like me would settle for you."
Queenie couldn't be bothered to respond to his taunts.
"Is there anything else? If not, please leave!" she ordered him out.
Zander's expression finally softened a little. "Tomorrow night is Thanksgiving. You've been out running wild for days now. It's time to come home, isn't it?"
Before Queenie could say a word, he added, "The day after tomorrow is your grandfather's birthday. If you dare skip the reunion dinner tomorrow night, don't even think about me coming with you to your family's house."
Threatening her with this again?
Queenie clenched her fists, a ball of fiery anger surging in her chest.
But she forcefully swallowed the fury back down.
There were only fifteen days left until they got the papers. She just had to endure a little longer.
Victory was in sight. She couldn't afford any complications now.
Anyway, until she got her license, she only had to visit that house one more time.
Her gaze landed on the wooden box on the table. It was the perfect timing; she needed to find Renata and ask what exactly she had said to Dennis.
