The Hockey Captain’s Unwanted Wife (Blair and Grayson) novel Chapter 254

Chapter 254

CHARLOTTE-

Callum walked forward before I could answer.

“Okay. Time to wrap it up. We have a few minutes to get on the flight.

Luca stiffened beside me.

I turned slowly.

I used the face. The one from when we were younger and I wanted the last biscuit, the later curfew, anything really. The same look I had given him to drop everything and travel with Luca.

“Please, brother. I do not want to leave.”

He sighed. Long.

“I knew this would happen.”

“You heard him. He loves me. He didn’t know-”

“A fool could have seen you love him.” Callum looked at Luca like he was stupid. “Is he that blind?”

“Ask my brother,” Luca said. “He will tell you for himself. I have a problem. I should get it checked out.”

Callum’s mouth twitched. Not a smile. Close.

“He’s known to be the biggest player out there. He has that reputation. Fathers keep their daughters far. I had people ask me if I was okay with how close the two of you were. I told them you were friends. I told myself you were smart.”

Luca stepped forward.

“Let me handle this,” he said, softly, to me.

I nodded.

He faced Callum.

“Plenty of the rumors are true,” he said. “I’m not going to stand here and lie about it. But those girls were nothing to me. I’m not proud of my actions. I was careless and stupid. And blind, like you pointed out. But please know, if I had the slightest clue that Charlotte loved me in that way, I would have dropped it all for her in a heartbeat. I know there is no way to prove that I’m telling the truth about the past, but I can show you starting from today how important she is to me.”

Callum waited.

“I’m not messing around,” Luca continued. “Not with her. Never with her. I plan on marrying her as quickly as she will let me. She is the one. I will never hurt her like that again. If I do, you can finish what

I you started in the suite, and I won’t lift a hand. I promise you that.”

My breath caught.

Marriage?

Callum stared at him for a long second. Then at me.

“You’re sure you want to stay?”

“Yes.”

Another sigh. This one tired in a different way.

“I’m not happy,” he said to Luca. “I don’t like your reputation. I don’t like that I had to punch you, or the fact that it took Charlotte leaving for you to realize these things. But she asked. And when she does finally ask me for things, I make it my business to give them to her.”

He stepped in. Close. Lowering his voice.

“If you hurt her again, I will not care what car you drive or what your mother thinks. I will come back, and we will not be talking near an airport. I will finish you.”

“Understood.”

Callum looked at me.

Then he hugged me. Tight.

“Call me when you land,” I told him.

“I will. Take care of yourself. Don’t hesitate to reach out if things don’t go your way.”

He kissed the top of my head, took one last look at Luca, and walked toward the airport without me.

When he was gone, everything shifted.

I turned.

Luca had a grin on his face.

What was so funny?

“So. You liked me all this time?”

I blushed. Immediately. Annoyingly.

“Shut up.”

“How many years, Charlotte?”

“Don’t.”

“Was it seeing me race for the first time?” he teased. “You like Fl drivers?”

“You are unbearable.”
