The reception hall was filled to maximum capacity with friends, family and business partners.

My smile turned thoughtful. “It was better than I expected. Everything went according to plan and the decor was amazing. Trina really did a great job.”

“She really did. I’m just glad no one caused a scene. It would’ve been all over the Internet by now. Grayson wasn’t able to stick around much longer when we were in the chapel.”

I sighed heavily because I knew what that meant and it made no difference to me. He was now just someone who added no value to my personal life.

I chuckled while shaking my head. “Even after all these years, Maddox still brings up how I was so suspicious of him, yet it was you.”

“And I’ll do it all over again if I have to. No one will mess with my daughter and get away with it. But you know what? I believe the chances of something like that happening are close to zero, considering the name you’ve made for yourself.”

I raised my head a little higher. “I learned from the best.”

Everyone else in the room disappeared when he wrapped his arm around my waist and I placed my hand on his shoulder.

He looked down at me with the same smile he had from the time I had walked down the aisle.

“Our private jet is ready,” he said with a little excitement. “We’ll leave whenever you want, but it better be soon because cha private island is waiting.”

I gasped with pleasant surprise. “You really rented a whole private island?”

“Nope. I bought it, which makes me even more excited.”

His suspicious grin made me tilt my head. “Oh yeah?”

“There are so many beautiful spots for us to make babies.”

My eyes grew wide. “Hey!”

He laughed at my reaction. “What?”

“You can’t just say something like that. I wasn’t ready,” I admitted.

“I absolutely was.”

I lightly smacked his shoulder. “You better slow down, Mr. Aldridge.”

He smirked. “When it comes to you, not even you can stop me, Mrs. Aldridge.”

I scoffed. “At this point, I’ve already accepted that.”

“That’s a good girl.”

His voice was so low that it reminded me of a few nights ago. My eyes gave it away that I was already so carried away but I chose not to hide it.

“Thinking about me?” he asked.

“Nope. Not even close.”

He chuckled like he didn’t believe me.

“You have no idea how much I look forward to what comes after this,” I said sincerely.
