Chapter 103
Though still confused, Arthur quickly picked up the comms.
But as soon as he connected to the Optic Brain, Austin’s question made him freeze on the spot.
“Arthur, is Lex really a female?” Austin demanded.
“Huh?” Arthur blurted out, completely caught off guard.
Seeing Arthur’s stunned expression, Austin was about to lose it.
“Arthur, I’m asking you straight up. Is Lex a female?” Austin pressed, his voice sharp.
“No, Austin. How did you know?” Arthur demanded.
“How did I know? Dory’s gene transfer data told me,” Austin snapped.
“What?” Arthur blurted out, completely shocked.
Seeing Arthur still clueless, Austin snapped, barely holding back his anger.
“Arthur, you know Dory, right? The bio–mecha that used to protect Ms. Graham.
“After Ms. Graham was gone, I reset part of Dory’s memory and handed her over to Lex.
“Lex never had Dory accept her as master before. But just now, Dory finally bonded with Lex as her master.

“For a bio–mecha to recognize a master, she has to be genetically linked to them. And just now, when the gene binding data between Dory and Lex came through to my Optic Brain, I saw Lex’s genetic profile.
“Lex is a real female, not an artificial female bot.
“Arthur, you’ve checked Lex’s body before. With your skills, you must’ve known who she really was all along.
“So, have
you been keeping it from me that Lex is a female this whole time? Is that what you’ve been doing?”
Faced with Austin’s grilling, Arthur’s heart skipped a beat, he knew he was busted, but he couldn’t help making excuses for himself.
“Listen, Marshal Drake, I didn’t hide Lex’s real identity for no reason. I had my own troubles,” Arthur said, his voice shaky. Austin replied, “I don’t care about your reasons right now, Arthur. I’m only asking one thing: where’s Lex?
“Where is she? I want to see her, and I mean right now. And she can’t stay out there any longer, it’s way too dangerous.
“Make sure she’s safe. I’m coming over to get her, right now.”
Seeing Austin about to hang up, Arthur quickly interjected, “Wait, Marshal Drake, don’t hang up yet. I have something important to tell you.”
“What is it?” Austin demanded, his voice cold as ice.
Seeing Arthur so flustered, Austin asked coldly.

“Man, I don’t even know how to say this…” Arthur muttered, clearly struggling.
“Just spit it out. I don’t have time to waste here,” Austin snapped.

With Austin breathing down his neck, Arthur psyched himself up, then finally blurted out, “Just… don’t lose your cool, okay,
Marshal?”
Austin didn’t say a word, just gave him a cold stare.
Knowing there was no way to hide it anymore, Arthur spoke up, careful and hesitant.
“Marshal, Lex is missing,” Arthur said, trying to keep his voice steady.
“What?” Austin’s voice was sharp, cutting through the silence.
“I said, Lex is missing,” Arthur repeated, his voice trembling.
“Arthur, repeat that for me, loud and clear. I’m telling you, I’m keeping my cool, I swear I won’t kill you with one punch,” Austin said, his voice low and dangerous.
Hearing Austin’s voice full of barely contained rage, Arthur was terrified, but he still forced himself to admit that Lexie was missing.
“Arthur, I should’ve ripped that raccoon suit off you the first time I met you. Just wait, once I find Lex, T’ll deal with you,” Austin growled.
With that, Austin hung up.
After hanging up, Austin was totally shaken. He was still reeling from the shock that Lexie was really a female all along.
When Ms. Graham died from that damned Clyssia Virus, he thought he’d never have another female in his world.
But the Beast God didn’t want the legacy of Aetherion Interstellar Zone to end, so he ended up sending Lexie right to Austin’s side.
She’d been so close to him all this time, and yet he still managed to let her slip away.
Just thinking about Lexie made Austin’s heart sink even deeper.
That sweet, gentle female who always smiled and said she liked him was now nowhere to be found.
Imagining Lexie suffering somewhere out there, Austin felt like his heart was being gnawed at by a million ants, he could barely stand the pain.
He replayed every moment he’d spent with Lexie, from their first meeting to all the times they’d grown close. Every detail was burned into his memory.
He cursed himself for not figuring out who Lexie really was sooner, for not keeping her safe when he had the chance.
Just thinking about all the danger Lexie might be in made Austin feel like he couldn’t breathe.
‘How could I have fallen for Arthur’s nonsense and let him take Lex away?‘ Austin cursed himself.
‘If only Lex had stayed with me, she would’ve been safe, no question. Austin thought bitterly.
But there were no “what ifs” in this world.

Forcing down the turmoil inside, Austin maintained a calm exterior and called Ryker in from his post at the door.
“Ryker,” Austin said firmly.
“Yes, Marshal?” Ryker replied, stepping inside.
“Get the word out, let everyone know Amya was actually a bionic human, and tell the whole galaxy she’s dead,” Austin ordered.
“Marshal, why are we telling everyone Amya’s dead right now?
“Weren’t we supposed to use her bionic identity to lure out the big fish?” Ryker asked, looking totally baffled.
“Forget it. Amya’s identity doesn’t matter anymore, we’ve got more important business to handle now.
“Ryker, pay attention. Once Amya’s death goes public, if the Aetherion Federation tries to come after us, you leak the files on the Crown Prince of the Aetherion Federation’s bionic research lab.
“If they dare to provoke us, we send in the troops to negotiate with them. If necessary, we go to war.” Austin said firmly. “Marshal, your order is really sudden. Can I ask, what’s your reason for acting like this all of a sudden?
“Starting a war between the Aetherion Federation and the Aetherion Empire isn’t something you just do on a whim,” Ryker said, his voice tight with worry.
Seeing Ryker’s confusion, Austin let out a long, heavy sigh, then fixed him with a look and revealed a truth even he could hardly wrap his head around.
“Ryker, listen, Lex isn’t a female bot. She’s an actual girl, a real female,” Austin said, his voice heavy with disbelief. “What? Marshal, you can’t be serious! I mean, Lex acts just like a real female, but there’s no way she’s just a bot, right? “Marshal, ever since that damn Clyssia Virus showed up, no real female can survive out in the sunlight anymore.
“If Lex was actually a real female, that virus would’ve killed her ages ago,” Ryker said, his voice full of disbelief.
