Chapter 105
“What are we supposed to do now? Maybe I should just roast this Tumblebeast for you.
“Or, if that doesn’t work, I could always grill that sneaky fox instead!” Dory joked,
“No way, Dory, don’t even joke about that. I’m not eating Fluffy or Violet,” Lexie said quickly.

When Dory said that and Lexie saw the Tumblebeast shrinking away beside her, she couldn’t stay sad anymore. She scooped Tumblebeast up and started soothing it gently.
“Hey Lex, let me head out and grab you some fresh fruits and something to eat,” Dory said.
“No way, Dory! There’s particle dust storm out there. Are you sure you can go out? What if something happens to you?
“Didn’t you say that particle dust storm can damage your body? What if you get hurt out there?” Lexie said, her voice full of
worry.
“I’ve got a shield, so I’ll be fine on my own. But if I take you with me, it’s too risky. So, Lex, you stay here with Ares and the rest of the crew. I’ll be back as soon as I find some food,” Dory reassured her.
“Okay,” Lexie replied.
As Dory fired up her shield and headed out, Lexie listened to the wild wind and rain howling outside the cave and immediately felt a pang of regret.
The wind was insane out there. Was she really so hungry that she’d let Dory risk it just to grab her a bite?
‘If something happened to Dory, I’d totally lose it,‘ Lexie thought, her heart sinking.
But now that Dory was gone, there was no way to reach her for a while. All Lexie could do now was wait and hope she’d come back safe.
So Lexie waited and waited, all through the night and into the next morning. She was so worn out that she finally passed out from exhaustion, but Dory still hadn’t come back.
‘It’s all my fault. Because I was selfish, I might’ve lost Dory,‘ Lexie thought, guilt twisting in her chest.
Right before she blacked out, Lexie couldn’t help but think, ‘How did I end up like this?‘
‘When did I get so selfish?‘ she berated herself, the guilt eating away at her.
‘Was it really that hard to go hungry for a while? Why did I have to get so desperate for food? Great, now Dory’s gone because of me,‘ she thought, her heart sinking.
Outside, the storm kept howling, and inside the cave, everyone was on edge as Lexie suddenly slipped into a deep sleep.
Ares kept checking on her, but she seemed fine physically, she just wouldn’t wake up.
Seeing Lexie like this, Ares was frantic, but Tumblebeast was even more panicked. It kept nudging her, trying to rouse her.
No matter how much Tumblebeast nudged and nuzzled her, Lexie just kept sleeping, totally out of it. Her face was getting paler by the minute.
And it wasn’t just that, she was visibly wasting away right before their eyes. Ares was losing its mind with worry over Lexie’s condition.

It glanced over at Cristia, who was still knocked out from his injuries.
No matter how much Ares tried to wake him, Cristia just wouldn’t come to.
Turning back to Lexie, whose face was getting paler by the minute, Ares knew it couldn’t keep waiting here.

It looked at Tumblebeast, who’d been glued to Lexie’s side, and said seriously, “Tumblebeast, I’ve got to head out and face the particle dust storm, then contact the rescue team as soon as I can.
“You stay here and watch over Master. Don’t worry, as soon as I get in touch with the rescue team, I’ll be back as fast as I can.”
Tumblebeast just huddled there, and it was impossible to tell what it was feeling.
“Oh, and keep an eye on Cristia too. His body’s healed up, but he needs someone from the Nine–Tail Vulpes to wake him up.
“You guys wait here. I’ll come back as soon as I get help. Lexie’s condition is getting worse, I can’t wait around anymore.
“If I wait any longer, Lexie will die,” Ares said, panic rising in his chest.
Once he’d settled Lexie and Tumblebeast, Ares fired up his shield, threw up a few more barriers at the cave entrance, and then, without hesitation, plunged into the raging storm and particle dust storm, shooting straight up toward the skies of Aeris Planet.
Not long after Ares left, Kaelen, drawn here by their mate bond, braved the raging storm and barged into the cave. The first thing he saw was Lexie lying on the bed.
He gave her a quick once–over, a wave of joy washed over him, but it was mixed with a cold rush of fear at how close she’d come to real danger.
Lexie was in this state because she was carrying his mer egg.
As the Merman King, his egg needed to absorb a ton of nutrients and energy directly from him to start growing.
After that night, Lexie had his egg inside her, but neither of them had a clue.
After all, Kaelen was the Merman King, ridiculously powerful, but keeping the royal bloodline alive was nearly impossible.
If it wasn’t so insanely hard to pass on the Merman King’s bloodline, he wouldn’t be the last merman standing in his clan.
Because of the inheritance, Lexie was missing the energy Kaelen should’ve been giving her, which left her moody, drained, and eventually blacking out.
After checking Lexie’s condition and realizing what was wrong, Kaelen gathered her into his arms, ready to get her out of
there.
But Tumblebeast jumped in front of him, blocking the exit.
“Fluffy, I’m here to help her. If you want me to save Lex, you need to let me through. You’re her pet, I don’t want to hurt you and make her mad,” Kaelen said, his voice firm but gentle.
Tumblebeast wavered, glancing at Lexie, then finally stepped aside, though it was clear he was reluctant.
With Tumblebeast out of the way, Kaelen held Lexie close and dashed into the pouring rain. In a flash, they were gone.

Chapter 105
As Kaelen carried Lexie away, Tumblebeast looked totally deflated, like all the life had been sucked out of it. It shrank down in an instant, curling up into a tiny ball and snuggling right up against Cristia’s beast form before drifting off to sleep.
Not long after Kaelen left with Lexic, another visitor arrived at the cave. This time, it was a beastman with a seductive face. but his aura was ice–cold.
He walked in and immediately spotted Cristia sprawled out on the ground, with Tumblebeast curled up right beside him.
“Tsk tsk tsk! What a loser. I can’t believe your body actually bounced back, now that’s a shock, the beastman sneered.
He gave Cristia a look full of contempt, then bent down and hefted Cristia onto his shoulder with little effort.
As he was about to leave, he glanced at Tumblebeast lying there. After a moment’s hesitation, he spat, “Useless,” but still picked Tumblebeast up and took it along.
