Chapter 111
When Lexie woke up and Kaelen told her she was pregnant, she was totally freaking out,
She had just confessed to Austin and was hoping things would finally get romantic between them.
But now, after just one night’s sleep, that damn fish guy Kaelen dropped the bomb, she was pregnant.
She was pregnant. For real.
Sure, she knew what “pregnant” meant, but seriously, why her, of all people?
Before and after she transmigrated to this world, she’d never even had a sweet romance.
Just great. Now she was suddenly going to be a mom.
She was losing it.
She’d been dreaming of being brave enough to confess to Austin, fall in love, and maybe even walk down the aisle together someday.
But now, thanks to Kaelen, her chances with Austin were really dead in the water.
They hadn’t even started dating, and now it was over before it even began.
After all, Austin was the Marshal of the Aetherion Empire, he could have any romance he wanted. Why would he ever want to play stepdad to her kid?
With her chances with Austin gone for good, Lexie couldn’t even bother to admire Kaelen’s good looks anymore.
Fuming, she lunged forward and chomped down hard on Kaelen’s nose.
Lexie bit with all her might, but to Kaelen, it just felt like she was smooching him.
Even though it didn’t hurt him at all, when Kaelen caught Lexie’s furious glare, he put on his best puppy–dog eyes and pleaded for mercy.
“Lex, I was wrong, okay? I swear I won’t ever do it again. You agreed to it back then, so you really can’t blame me for this!
“And come on, having kids is a real challenge for merfolk royalty, I seriously didn’t think just one time would get you pregnant!”
Lexie snapped, “Like hell I agreed! Seriously, I thought I was dreaming. I never thought any of it was
“It was bad enough you tricked me into that mate bond, but now you’re telling me you showed up in my dreams and acted like a total creep?
“You bastard! You think I’m just gonna sit here and take it? I swear, I’m gonna bite your head off!”
Seeing Lexie so furious she was practically gnashing her teeth, Kaelen got worried she might actually make herself sick from anger. He immediately backed down, looking all pitiful and pleading for mercy.
Lex, I was wrong, I really know I messed up. Now that you’re pregnant with my kid, I’m here for you and the baby, I promise.”
Lexie snapped, “But I don’t want you to step up for me! Kaelen, don’t you get it? The one I like is Austin.

Chapter 111
“I just confessed to him a while ago, and he even said he liked me back.
“I was hoping we’d finally meet up and start dating! But now? It’s all ruined, all thanks to you. You’ve totally wrecked my life.
“Why am I so damn unlucky? If I’d known having a dream could actually get me knocked up, I never would’ve let myself have one! What the hell am I supposed to do now?”
Hearing Lexic break down in tears, Kaelen felt a twist in his gut.
‘No wonder she’s so pissed about being pregnant,‘ he thought.
‘So it’s all because of that poker–faced Austin, huh?”
That Austin guy wasn’t just stone–faced, he was all about duty and work, never had a romantic bone in his body.
‘How could Lexie ever fall for someone that boring?‘ Kaelen thought, feeling a mix of frustration and disbelief.
Kaelen thought, ‘Sure, I haven’t spent much time with Lexie, if one could even call it that.
‘But come on, I’m not exactly ugly, right? At least I’m definitely better looking than that Austin guy.
‘And let’s not forget, I’m funny, charming, and I actually know how to make a female feel special.
‘With all that going for me, Lexie still fell for that stiff, poker–faced Austin who doesn’t know the first thing about romance.
Just thinking about it made Kaelen feel all kinds of sour inside.
If he could, Kaelen would love nothing more than to smash Austin’s face in with a slap and make sure that shameless bastard never tried to hit on his female again.
Just as things were getting tense and Lexie was about to slap Kaelen again, Austin, who had been standing quietly behind her, finally spoke up.
“Lex…”
“M–Marshal!”
Seeing Austin standing right behind her, Lexie froze on the spot.
‘Wait, isn’t this Kaelen’s turf? He just said no one else could get in here except him,‘ Lexie thought, totally confused.
‘So what the hell is going on? Why is Austin here?
‘How long has he been standing there? Did he see me freaking out and attacking Kaelen just now?
‘And did he hear me freaking out at Kaelen about being pregnant?
‘If he didn’t, that’s fine. But if he did, does that mean there’s really no chance for me and Austin anymore?‘
Just thinking about all that, Lexie couldn’t even think about smacking Kaelen anymore. She pushed herself up off Kaelen. scrambling to her feet, then frantically straightened out her rumpled clothes and messy hair, totally at a loss for what to do.
Once her clothes were finally sorted out, Lexie nervously glanced over at Austin, her heart pounding in her chest.
Just as their eyes met, before Lexie could say a word, a snarky voice cut through the air.

Look at her han är lifeless, and so messy it looks like a bird’s nest.
LLERYD
And her face? Nothing’s in the right place, her features are all wonky, skin’s dry as sandpaper, and her body’s a total train wwe shot, bow–legged, chest as flat as a pancake, stubby neck, and a mouth that could swallow a fist.
Bead–on she’s barely human From the side, she’s a mountain. From the left, she’s a ghost. From the right, she’s some wild,
Damn dude, how did you even end up crushing on a female this ugly?”
After tearing that whole ram trashing her, Lexie whipped her head around to see who was running their mouth. Standing there was a beastman, smoking hot, with a face that could make anyone jealous.
Lexe was so stunned by his look of utter contempt that it took her a moment to recover.
She jabbed a finger at her own nose, totally floored, and thought, ‘No way, he can’t be talking about me, right?‘ Then she stauntered out, “Y–You… are you talking about me?”
Who else? Use those little eyes of yours and take a good look, can you spot any beastman here uglier than you?” Gary looked Lezár up and down with obvious disdain, then curled his lip and scoffed.
