Seeing Lexie with her head down, avoiding his gaze, Austin couldn’t help but think maybe she didn’t like him anymore.

But just a short while ago, Lexie had actually confessed to him, she’d told him she liked him.

Austin thought to himself, ‘Why is it that now, after everything we’ve gone through to finally reunite, my Lex doesn’t like me anymore?‘

“Lex, last time we talked, you said you had a surprise for me when we met. Well, I’m here now, where’s my surprise?” Austin asked, trying to sound lighthearted.

“The surprise… it kind of turned into a scare,” Lexie replied.

She gently touched her still–flat belly, her tone edged with a bitter regret.

‘I’m already carrying someone else’s baby,‘ Lexie thought to herself. ‘Of course, what was supposed to be a surprise has turned into a scare.

Noticing the bitterness in Lexie’s voice, Austin stepped closer, gently taking her hand in his.

“Lex, something seems off with you. Can you tell me why?” he said gently.

Feeling the warmth of his hand, Lexie looked up at Austin’s face. She bit her lip, a little embarrassed, and said, “Austin, last time I told you I had a surprise for you.

“The surprise was actually about who I really am.

“I wanted to tell you that I’m not a female bot, I’m a real female.

“I thought that meant I finally deserved to be with you.

“But now… I don’t deserve to be with you anymore…”

“Lex, why would you say that? You’re okay, aren’t you? Why can’t we be together?” Austin asked, his voice laced with confusion and worry.

“Because… because I’ve formed a mate bond with Kaelen and Cristia. And not only that, I’m pregnant with Kaelen’s mer egg,” Lexie said, her voice trembling.

“When it happened, I honestly thought I was just dreaming. But the truth is, I was so clueless I convinced myself it was all just some crazy fantasy.

“See? Now I’m paying the price for being so stupid. I’m pregnant with Kaelen’s mer egg, and I guess I’m about to be a mom, whether I like it or not.

“Someone like me… I’m just not good enough for you anymore, Lexie continued.

Austin’s eyes narrowed at her words. He sighed inwardly, then crouched down so he was eye–level with Lexie.

“Lex, it doesn’t matter to me if you’ve formed a mate bond with someone else, or if you’re having another beastman’s kid.

“All I care about is whether you still have me in your heart. If you do, can we be together?

“I want to look after you, and your baby, too.

“Is that alright?” he asked softly.

Lexie looked at Austin, her mind spinning, she honestly had no idea how she was supposed to respond.

Kaelen blurted out, “Hell no, that’s not okay! Why should my mer egg ever recognize that idiot Austin as its beast father?

“I’m not dead, and I’m not useless. I can take care of my female and raise my own mer egg just fine.

“I’m Kaelen Tideborne, the Merman King! The whole ocean in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone is my turf. I call the shots here, so why would I let that fool Austin try to steal my girl right under my nose?

“Austin, get out of here! Leave my island, now!

“If you don’t scram, I’ll end you myself.

“And the rest of you, get lost, too!”

Seeing Austin trying to snatch his female, Kaelen was instantly pissed. Now that Lexie was carrying his mer egg, he was about to become a proud beast father, no way was he letting anyone mess with that.

And just when things were finally going his way, a bunch of annoying bastards dared to set foot on his turf, trying to steal his girl right in front of him.

This island was buried deep in the ocean, here, Kaelen was the god of the sea.

If anyone had the guts to snatch Lexie from him, he didn’t give a damn who they were. Marshal of the Aetherion Empire, Crown Prince of the Aetherion Federation, none of that mattered to him.

If anyone tried to take her away, he’d make sure they never left this place alive.

Kaelen’s murderous vibe was so intense, nobody in the room could ignore it.

Even Lexie felt it, loud and clear.

She stepped up and gave Kaelen a smack right on the head.

“Kaelen, what’s with the sudden attitude? You’re totally freaking me out! And why are you trying to kick Austin Drake and Dr. Cole out?

“They came to take me home. If you keep this up, I’m leaving with them right now.

“Seriously, this is just nuts! If you hadn’t dragged me all the way out here, do you really think I’d be stuck in this dump?

“This place? I don’t even want to stay here!

“Austin Drake, Dr. Cole, let’s get out of here!” Lexie called out.

As she spoke, Lexie strode forward, determined to leave.

But before she could even take two steps, Kaelen grabbed her hand, stopping her in her tracks.

“Lex, didn’t I already tell you? You’re pregnant with a mer egg. Until it hatches, you can’t leave the ocean.

“If you try to leave now, and the mer egg loses the ocean’s energy, both you and the egg could be in serious danger.

“Trust me, you really don’t want to risk that.

“So you can’t go yet, you have to stay here until the mer egg is born.

“No matter what, I have to make sure you and the mer egg are safe. If anything happened to either of you, I wouldn’t want to

live anymore.

“So, Lex, please, I’m begging you, don’t go, okay? Don’t leave me, please?” Kaelen pleaded, his voice trembling with desperation.

Right now, Kaclen was clutching Lexic, his face desperate and pleading, gone was the deadly Merman King who’d just been ready to tear Austin and the others apart.

Seeing Kaelen like this, Lexie tried to yank her hand free, but he just wouldn’t let go. Frustrated and pisserl off, she snapped. “Kaclen, I am not about to be your baby mama, I’m not popping out your mer egg!

“I haven’t even had a real boyfriend, so why the hell should I be stuck having your mer egg?

“If I could, the second I get off this crappy little island, I’d get this mer egg aborted, no hesitation.

“Let go! I’m leaving, so just let me go already!”

When Kaelen heard Lexie say she didn’t want their mer egg, he got really anxious.

“Lex, do you really hate me that much? You don’t even want our baby anymore?” Kaelen asked, his voice trembling with desperation.

“Our mer egg isn’t just mine, it’s yours too! It only takes five months for a mer egg to hatch.

“After five months, they’ll be ready to come out. When that time comes, I’ll help you hatch them out of their shells.

“Lex, I’m begging you, please, don’t hurt them,” Kaelen pleaded, his voice cracking with desperation.

“If you just keep them, I swear, I’ll give you anything you want.

“Money, power, status, even a life that lasts forever…

“Whatever you ask for, it’s yours, just please, don’t hurt our baby, okay?” Kaelen continued.

Seeing Kaelen looking all pitiful, Lexie let out a sigh, feeling totally helpless and a little annoyed.

“Kaelen, I don’t care about money, power, status, or living forever. None of that stuff matters to me at all.

“The thing that really gets to me is how you lied to me,” Lexie said, her voice trembling with anger.

“You only got me pregnant because you tricked me, this mer egg isn’t here because I loved you or wanted it. It’s not something I ever wished for,” she continued, bitterness clear in her words.

“And that’s exactly why I hate the egg… and honestly, I hate you too.

“Kaelen, if you really liked me, you should’ve been upfront and pursued me honestly! How could you resort to such dirty tricks just to get me pregnant?

“That’s way out of line!” Lexie snapped, her voice shaking with anger.
