Chapter 114
“No, I was just scared you wouldn’t want to be with me. I was feeling insecure, that’s why I did it,” Kaelen said.
“Feeling guilty gives you a free pass to do whatever you want? I mean, I like the money in the bank too, but if they won’t give
it to me, does that mean I can just rob a bank and blame it on feeling guilty?” Lexie shot back.
“Lex, you don’t have to rob anyone. I’ve got plenty of money. Just say the word, and it’s all yours,” Kaelen replied.
Lexie was so furious she jabbed a finger at him, but for a second, she couldn’t even find the words to respond.
‘He’s really going to be the death of me,‘ Lexie thought, feeling exasperated.
“You… ugh! I can’t even deal with you right now,” Lexie said, shaking her head.
She jabbed a finger at Kaelen, who wore a guilty, sheepish look, and honestly, Lexie had no idea how to even talk to him at this point.
‘He’s going to drive me crazy, Lexie thought, fuming.
Lexie was so mad she couldn’t even speak, just glaring at Kaelen. He shuffled forward, slow and awkward, nervously tugging at her sleeve as he tested the waters.
“Lex, can you not leave me?” he asked in a small voice.
“Ha! So you can kick out Marshal Drake and Dr. Cole, but I can’t leave?” Lexie shot back.
“Fine, I won’t kick them out, okay?” Kaelen replied quickly.
“Hmph!” Lexie snorted, still fuming.
Just as Kaelen was about to say something else, Gary, who had been standing off to the side with his arms crossed, said with a
sneer.
“Coward,” he scoffed.
“Who are you calling a coward, you damn fox?” Kaelen snapped, his temper flaring.
Hearing Gary call him a coward, Kaelen instantly lost it.
Gary snapped, “I’m talking to you! What, you can’t understand my words? Kaelen, come on, you’re the Lord of the Ocean, King of the Merfolk.
“And you’re not even bad–looking yourself. So what’s up with your taste? How could you possibly fall for such an ugly female?
“Just look at her, skinny arms and legs, thick waist, like a frog trying to get into boot camp. Her face is all chubby, like some fat hag, or a big potato waiting to be chopped up.
“She’s that ugly, so what do you even see in her?
“If she wants to leave, just let her go! Groveling for a fat, ugly female like that, isn’t that disgusting?”
Before Kaelen could even say a word, Lexie immediately got pissed.
This jerk just won’t quit, huh? First he calls me ugly, and now he’s at it again, Lexie fumed.

Chapter 114
“What did I ever do to him? Did I eat his family’s rice or steal all his money? Why’s this loser gotta come at me like this?‘ she thought.
Thinking that, Lex glared at the nine wet, sea–soaked tails swishing behind Gary and started roasting him on the spot.
“Oh, look at you, Mr. Fox, thinking you’re all that. Go jump in a river, your fancy fur turns you into a soggy mess. You strut around like everyone’s obsessed with you, but honestly? You’re the scum of the earth, king of the creeps.
“Just look at yourself, all wimpy and skinny, nothing like a real sly fox, more like a scared little rodent.
“And don’t even get me started on your looks, cherry nose, a face full of scars, belly like a bloated frog, legs like a pig.
“Short neck with a chin that sticks out, and that huge butt dragging a tail behind you.
“Ugly freak, call me ugly one more time and I’ll drag you so hard you’ll wish you’d never messed with me.”
“You…” Gary was so mad he could barely get a word out.
Gary was so pissed he nearly toppled over.
‘She’s gonna drive me insane, Gary thought, seething.
“Ugly female, nobody loves you, you sad sack!” Gary snapped.
Lexie fumed and said, “Give me a break! I’ve got plenty of people who care about me. Unlike you, pathetic and nasty, no wonder nobody wants to be around you.
“Seriously, what did I ever do to you? Why are you always coming after me? Is your brain just sloshing around with fish bubbles or something?
“You think you can mouth off at me and I’ll just sit here and take it? Not a chance! Ha, what a joke!”
Gary was left speechless by Lexie’s roasting. He turned to Cristia, his face twisted with anger.
“Cristia, seriously? You actually like this shrew?” he snapped.
“Shut up, Gary. You started this,” Cristia said, his voice firm.
“Lex is just a female, and you keep calling her ugly over and over. If you can insult her like that, so why can’t she fire back at you?
“Gary, Lex is my bonded mate, the one I’m going to spend my whole life with. I don’t care what your reasons are for hating her, but as your own brother, I can’t let you treat her this way.
“Lex is kind, brave, and strong. She’s better than any female out there. I like her, I love her, and that’s all that matters.
“You need to learn to respect people, not just judge them by their looks. Lex has her own strengths, maybe you should try to see them,” Cristia continued.
“She’s so ugly, I don’t even care if she’s got a heart of gold,” Gary sneered.
“Gary!” Cristia yelled, his anger boiling over.
Seeing Cristia was genuinely pissed, Gary had to bite his tongue and back off, even if he was still steaming inside.
Cristia shot Gary a look of pure disdain, then walked over to Lexie, his tone sincere.

Chapter 114
“Lex, I want to apologize on Gary’s behalf. Hope you can let it slide just this once. I swear he won’t pull this again.” he said,
Lexie looked at Cristia, her eyes a mix of helplessness and warmth. She knew he really cared about her, or he wouldn’t have stood up for her like this.
But honestly, that beastman Gary really had a mouth that begged for trouble.
Lexie took a deep breath, then gave a small, wry smile and spoke softly.
“It’s fine, Cristia. I’m not bothered by it. He’s just an ugly fox, not worth my time.
“I’m pretty easygoing, I just treat whatever he says like hot air and move on.”
“Ugly female, you…” Gary growled, about to go off again.
“Gary!” Cristia jumped in before Gary could lose it again.
“Cristia, don’t forget, I’m your own brother! How can you take her side instead of mine?” Gary protested, jabbing a finger at Lexie, his face twisted with frustration.
“Gary, let me spell it out for you, Lex isn’t some outsider. She’s my bonded mate,” Cristia said, his voice firm and unwavering.
“Hmph! I’m still your own brother!” Gary shot back, his face full of resentment.
He glared at Lexie, his neck stiff with anger, but finally shut up.
“Cristia, don’t bother with him. He’s just a little fox, I really don’t care what he
says.
“Besides, he insulted me, and I already fired back twice as hard. You don’t need to get worked up over him, Lexie said, her tone calm and unbothered.
Hearing Lexie say that, Cristia finally relaxed. He shot Gary a warning look.
“You heard her. Lex is letting it slide this time. But if you ever mouth off to her again, don’t expect me to go easy on you,” Cristia warned.
