Chapter 119
“And you, Lexie, the reason Kaelen picked you isn’t just because you’re a female.

“The real reason is your extraordinary fertility. If you weren’t so fertile, you wouldn’t have gotten pregnant with his egg after just one night with him.
“With fertility like yours, those reclusive clans would be desperate to win you over. Why would they ever want to hurt you,” Nelson continued.
“Win me over? Ha! All they really want is for me to pop out babies for them! Why are you making it sound like some big honor?” Lexie shot back.
“Ugh, this is so freaking annoying!” Lexie grumbled.
Lexie stomped her foot, fuming. She never thought she’d end up being eyed by those reclusive clans just because she could have kids so easily.
Seeing Lexie all riled up, Nelson couldn’t help but add, “Lexie, now that you know how valuable you are, you know what you gotta do to stay safe, right?”
“What am I supposed to do? Find someone strong to have my back? After all this setup, let me guess, you want me to pick you, don’t you?” Lexie shot back.
“That’s right, you guessed it,” Nelson replied.
Hearing that, Lexie couldn’t help but ask, “Nelson, didn’t you say those reclusive clans are even stronger than the Aetherion Federation and the Aetherion Empire?
“If that’s the case, then you definitely can’t be the one to have my back,” Lexie said.
“Nope, you gotta pick me,” Nelson insisted.
“Then tell me, why should I choose you?” Lexie shot back.
Nelson smiled, then spoke in a gentle tone.
“It’s simple. I can protect you. Lexie, I’m not just the crown prince of the Aetherion Federation, I have other identities too.
“You’ve seen my beast form. I’m a mutated four–clawed giant python, with crazy strength and some pretty wild powers.
“Because my beast form is so unique, I level up way faster than anyone else. Honestly, there are hardly any beings in this galaxy who can even come close to me.
“Plus, my influence reaches every corner of the Aetherion Interstellar Zone. If I want something done, there’s nowhere 1
can’t reach.
“Those reclusive clans might be powerful, but they wouldn’t dare go against me. So, I’m the only one who can truly keep you
safe from them.”
“Geez, you really love to brag, huh!” Lexie couldn’t help but tease.
‘Seriously, this guy never stops hyping himself up,‘ Lexie thought to herself.
“Lex, I’m not just bragging, I’m telling you the facts. You’re insanely talented, and you advance way faster than anyone else.
“If that wasn’t the case, my gene disease wouldn’t be worse than everyone else’s.

“Look at Austin, we’re only a few years apart, and we both have gene disease. But even if mine is more severe, it shouldn’t be worse than his.
“So, trust me. Pick me.
“If you do, I promise I’ll protect you, no matter what,” Nelson said in all sincerity.
Meeting Nelson’s earnest eyes, Lexie let out a quiet sigh and replied seriously.
“Let me think about it, okay? This isn’t something I can just decide on a whim. I don’t want to rush into anything,” Lexie said.
Plus, since she and Nelson weren’t really that close, Lexie always kept her guard up whenever she was around him.
“Of course, take all the time you need. You’re stuck on this island for the next five months until the egg hatches.
“Use that time to really think things through. But if you still can’t decide after five months, and those reclusive clans catch wind of who you are…” Nelson warned.
“Lex, you’ve got your choices, and I’ve got mine.
“If you decide not to stick with me, then I’ll have to do what’s best for myself and pick my own side.
“And if that means I end up siding with those reclusive clans… well, you can guess what that would mean for you.
“Lex, that’s out of your hands,” Nelson said.
“Are you threatening me?” Lexie said, her eyes half–narrowed.
Hearing Nelson’s words, Lexie gave him a cold, guarded look as she spoke.
“It’s not a threat, just some advice. From the start, I’ve only wanted to talk benefits with you, not get personal.
“I get something out of this, and you get what you want too.
“For example, protection.
“We’re business partners because it’s good for both of us, so we should always look at things from a benefits angle.
“If you don’t pick me, I’ll do what’s best for me and find another path,” Nelson said.
Lexie sighed inwardly. Honestly, she had to admit Nelson, the crown prince of the Federation, was right.
He’d never said he liked her, right from the start, it was just business between them.
If he couldn’t get what he wanted from her, of course he’d just go find someone else. That was only logical.
The only reason she felt threatened was because she’d gotten this warped expectation into her head.
Ever since she’d ended up in this world, she’d always thought she’d be just like those transmigrated heroines, everyone would love her and everything would go her way.
