Chapter 12
Austin, sitting off to the side, watched as Lexie sat straight, her eyes fixed ahead, barely daring to breathe.
With a helpless sigh, he could only patiently try to reassure her.ex, I don’t eat people.”
“Huh?” Lexie blurted out, startled.
Hearing the words “eat people“, she instinctively edged away.

Lexie thought, ‘Speaking of which, I still have no clue what kind of beast form Austin had. Ezra said they were all beastmen, each with their own beast form.
‘As the marshal of the Aetherion Empire, does Austin have his own beast form as well?
‘Is his beast form dangerous? Could it actually eat people?‘
Just remembering those weird–looking animals she’d seen on Dora Planet made Lexie even more nervous about what kind of beast form Austin might have.
Seeing Lexie shrink away from him in fear, Austin let out a silen sigh, feeling a bit helpless.
He finally spoke up, “Lex, I’m the marshal of the Aetherion Empire. My duty is to protect our home and the empire. No matter what, I would never hurt an artificial female bot.
“Now that there are no real females left, you female bots are the empire’s most precious treasures. Each of you carries an enormous responsibility, so believe me, you’re safe with me. I won’t hurt you.”
“Really? That’s such a relief,” Lexie replied.
As soon as Austin promised not to hurt her, Lexie felt herself relax.
Hearing Lexie’s answer, Austin couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, but he still went ahead and finally got to the reason he’d come today.
“Lex, you’re not claimed by anyone right now. So, once we get to Dophi Planet, have you thought about where you’ll go?” Austin asked.
“Well, um…” Lex hesitated, her voice trailing off.
Lex thought, “This is really a headache. I’m just someone who ended up in this world, and I barely know anything about this place.
When we finally get to Dophi Planet, how am I supposed to know where to go or what to do?‘
Lexie looked like she wanted to say something but couldn’t get te words out.
Seeing his chance, Austin suggested, “Lex, I know a place that might be perfect for you. Want to hear about it?”
“Sure, I’m all ears, Lexie said.
Austin explained, “Right now, you don’t have a master. Without master, you don’t have any ID.
“Without an ID, you can’t even stay on Dophi Planet.
“Lex, if you don’t mind, you could let me be your master for now You’d be my bot, and you could use my identity to get by on Dophi Planet.

“I’ll make sure you have a place to stay, a job, and get a monthlylary and some extra benefits.
“All you need to do is help out the beastmen in the army with their genetic problems whenever you have time.
“You already know how it works. Just a simple touch on their beatified body, and they can be cured.
“What do you think, Lex? Any thoughts?”
Honestly, Lexie could hardly pretend she wasn’t interested after hearing all that, but she did hesitate.
She asked, “Marshal Drake, if I let you be my master, does that mean you’d have the right to decide
my
fate?
“If you don’t need me anymore, would you just hand me over to someone else, or hurt me whenever you feel like it?
“Let me put it plainly–would you just kill me?”
Seeing the anxiety in Lexie’s eyes, Austin hurried to explain, “Oh Lex, artificial female bots are under the protection of the Aetherion Empire. Even though you were created in a lab, you’re treated just like any other citizen.
“No one, not even a bot’s master, has the right to hurt them. If anyone deliberately hurts an artificial female bot, the empire will make sure they’re punished.
“Lex, even as the marshal, I have to lead by example in these matters.

“That’s why you can trust me. No matter what happens, I won’t hurt you.”
After Austin’s explanation, Lex’s guard dropped a bit. Still, there were a few things she needed to ask about.
“If I find a life that really suits me someday, could I break our bond and go my own way?” Lexie asked.
“Absolutely, Lex. If you ever find a better place for yourself, just tell me. I’ll let you go,” Austin replied.
Hearing Austin’s answer, Lexie finally breathed a sigh of relief.
‘So for now, letting Austin be my master is just a stopgap, Lex thought. ‘It’s only temporary, nothing permanent.
‘Once I figure out how things work in this world and can protect myself, I can totally ask Austin to break off the master- servant thing.
But the most important thing was that she was terminally ill. Without any treatment, she had no idea how much longer she’d even be around.
So, letting Austin be her master for now didn’t make much of afference to her.
With that in mind, Lexie turned to Austin, taking in his handsome face. She reached out her hand and said in a sincere tone, “Marshal Drake, I’ll do my best to help you.”
Seeing Lexie reach out her fair hand, Austin was caught off guar for a moment. Then he reached out and gently took her
hand in his.
As Austin enveloped Lexie’s hand in his own, he couldn’t hide the shock in his gaze,
For an artificial female bot, her hand was unbelievably warm., Ju that simple touch sent an unexpected rush of energy through him, filling him with strength and a strange sense of comfort.

From Austin’s resolute words, Lexie felt a genuine warmth and sincerity, and a wave of comfort unexpectedly washed over
her heart.
She realized that she’d made the right call. Maybe this beastman really could bring some light and comfort to her final days.
She nodded softly, gratitude sparkling in her eyes.
“Thank you, Marshal Drake. You’ve helped me so much. I’ll do everything I can to repay you,” she said softly.
“Here’s to a good partnership,” Austin said.
“Agreed. Here’s to a good partnership,” Lexie replied.
Now that they’d finally talked things through, the smiles on their faces were finally genuine.
After that, Austin registered Lexie under his name, then gave her the Optic Brain he’d just set up for her. After that, she patiently walked her through how it worked.
