Chapter 122
Even though they didn’t really get it, seeing how much Lexie depended on Austin made Kaelen and Cristia not dare say a bad word about him.
Ever since they showed up, they’d been watching Kaelen and Lexie stick together like glue.
Compared to them, Lexie’s reliance on Austin made them insanely jealous.
Austin said, “Lex, these are the latest games from the Aetherion Empire. You can play them to kill time. And these clothes were custom–made for you, tailored to your old measurements.
“They might not fit you later, but don’t worry, I’ll have new ones made for you when I get back.
“Oh, and since you’re a female, I figured you’d like some shiny little jewelry.
“These pieces were all picked out just for you, so feel free to wear them whenever you want. Also, your body’s different now, so you’ll probably get hungry more often.
“Ryker already got you some high–grade nutrient fluid in different flavors, and a bunch of snacks and fruit.
“Go ahead and enjoy them for now. I’ll have someone bring you more later.
“Oh, and after I leave, Arthur won’t be going anywhere. He’ll stay with you the whole time. As for everything else, I’ll take care of it as fast as I can.
“Lex, I know what Arthur’s worried about, and I get it. But don’t worry, I won’t let you down.
“Once I’m back, I’ll handle everything that could get you into trouble. I won’t let you get caught up in any
messes.
“Oh, and Lex, wear this Optic Brain. The tracker and defender are way better, so it’ll keep you safer.
“And take this too, it’s an automatic protection device. If anyone tries to mess with you, just toss it and it’ll protect you.”
Watching Austin fuss over her like this, Lexie didn’t find him annoying at all. In fact, she thought he was so cute and real.
She loved spending time with Austin, and she loved being taken care of by him.
She liked relying on him, trusting him, even just quietly being by his side made her happy.
But just like Austin had told her, to make sure she’d have a safe and peaceful life, he had to go back and take care of everything with the Aetherion Empire and the Federation before her mer egg was born.
“Austin, when are you leaving?” Lexie looked up and asked.
“Tomorrow,” Austin replied.

“So soon?” Lexie said, her voice tinged with disappointment.

Hearing the disappointment in her voice, Austin reached out and gently ruffled her hair, his tone soft and reassuring.
He said, “Lex, if I don’t go back soon, your identity could get exposed. For your safety, I have to make sure everything’s under control.
“But I’m not going alone, Nelson’s coming with me so we can deal with all that crap together.
“And that bionic human, Amya, she’s been dead for a while now. We kept her death a secret just to give Nelson a hard time.
“But with how things are now, I guess I have to let him off the hook this time.”
“Bullshit! You posted all my bionic lab data on the Interstellar Net, and now you say you’re letting me off easy?
“Ha! Austin, you really have the nerve to say you’re letting me off easy,” Nelson shot back.
“You had it coming. You pulled all those shady stunts just to mess with me, why should I feel bad about it?” Austin retorted.
After giving Nelson a cold glare, Austin turned back to Lexie, his eyes softening as he spoke gently.
He said, “Lex, don’t worry. I’ll make sure Nelson leaves with me. With him gone, you can really feel at ease here.
“Whether you want to be with him or not, that’s totally up to you. No one can make you do it, not even me.
“Once I’ve sorted everything out, I promise I’ll come and take you home myself.”
“Alright, I’ll be waiting for you to bring me back,” Lexie replied softly, her voice full of longing.
Lexie gripped Austin’s hand tightly, reluctant to let go.
When Lexie woke up the next morning, Austin had already taken Nelson and left.
Not seeing them around so early, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
‘They’d only just arrived, and now they’re already gone… Lexie thought, feeling a bit empty inside.
Seeing Lexie looking so down, a chilly voice called out.
“Hey, ugly female! It’s still early morning! What’s with the sour face already? Ugly as you are, that look makes it even worse,” Gary sneered.
“Oh, like you’re some kind of beauty, you dumb fox,” Lexie snapped back, clearly annoyed.
Lexie shot Gary a glare, noticing he was strutting around shirtless so early, and fired back, still fuming.
Gary said, “Of course I’m good–looking. Ugly female, have you checked out this body? Look at these abs, and

“You better take a good look today. Maybe if you keep staring, your little fish babies will pick up some of my good looks.
“Even if they don’t end up as gorgeous as me, at least they won’t be as ugly as you, that’s for sure.”
Lexie shot back, “Look who’s talking! You and your whole family are the real ugly ones. Why are you still hanging around so early, you idiot?
“Seriously, people I actually want around are gone, and the annoying ones just won’t leave. What a drag.”
Gary didn’t care at all about Lexie’s disgusted glare, acting like it didn’t bother him one bit.
He said, “Ha! I’m not leaving, so what are you gonna do about it? Go ahead and get pissed, see if I care. I’m staying right here just to annoy you.”
Lexie shot Gary a death glare, the kind you give someone who’s just begging for trouble.
Honestly, this guy was way too good–looking for his own good. ‘Why couldn’t fate just make him a silent, pretty face instead of a loudmouth?‘ Lexie grumbled to herself.
Seriously, just looking at that face made her want to throttle him.
Noticing Lexie staring him down, Gary shifted his stance, flexing his muscles right in front of her, grinning like he owned the place and showing off like he was the hottest thing around.
He said, “So, what do you think? Pretty impressive, right? Bet you’re drooling. Too bad, someone like you could never hope to land a guy with a body like mine.”
Listening to Gary brag, Lexie eyed his bare chest and those baggy pants he wore just to make his muscles

Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She fished out a bottle of ice water from her storage space, then batted her eyes and put on her best lovestruck fangirl act, turning to Gary with a voice as sweet as honey.
“Oh wow, Gary, you look absolutely incredible!” she gushed, laying it on thick.
“Obviously,” Gary said smugly, smirking with pride.
He stretched out his arms, showing off his ripped muscles from behind for Lexie to admire.
“Since you’ve got such a great body, can I touch your abs?” Lexie cooed, batting her eyes at him.
“Touch my abs? Ugly female, are you trying to seduce me?” Gary shot back, a wicked grin on his
