Chapter 129
At that moment, he completely forgot about Gary and stepped forward, his gaze intense as he looked at Lexie’s face. Under his heated stare, Lexie couldn’t help but blush.
Just as Lexie was so embarrassed she wanted to crawl into a hole, the Grand Elder’s expression changed in an instant. He switched from stern to warm and friendly in a split second.
He stepped forward, motioning for Cristia to crouch down, then respectfully held out his hand for Lexie to take.
Once Cristia agreed, Lexie awkwardly slid off his back, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
As soon as she landed, everyone’s attention instantly shifted to her.
Honestly, having so many good–looking guys staring at her all at once made Lexie feel super shy.
Even though she was feeling shy, she still had things she needed to take care of.
“Um, Grand Elder?” Lexie said.
“Your Highness, please go ahead,” the Grand Elder replied.
“You don’t have to call me Your Highness. My name’s Lexie Goodwin. If you don’t mind, just call me Lex,” Lexie said.
“Of course, Your Highness,” the Grand Elder replied.
Facing the Grand Elder’s burning, excited gaze, Lexie sighed inwardly, then asked hesitantly, “Um, Grand Elder, could you let Gary off just this once, considering my position as a female?”
The Grand Elder looked at Lexie, his eyes full of curiosity. “Lex, are you pleading for Gary because you like him and want to make him your mate?”
“Huh? No, no, that’s not it,” Lexie blurted out, frantically waving her hands.
Lexie shook her head quickly, making it clear she wasn’t interested in Gary that way.
“If you don’t like Gary, then why are you standing up for him? He broke the clan’s rules, so he should be punished,” the Grand Elder said, sounding confused.
“But if you do like him and want to make him your mate, then for your sake, I can bend the rules and let him off this time.
“But if you don’t like him, then I can’t just let him off the hook for breaking the clan’s rules.
“If I let him go today, then everyone will start ignoring the rules, and there won’t be any order left in the fox clan.
When Lexie heard the Grand Elder say that, she instantly realized he was basically hinting that she should take Gary as her
mate.
But no way, that was never gonna happen. She and Gary just didn’t click.
With that mouth of his, she’d never survive dealing with him.
Just as Lexie was racking her brain for an answer, the Grand Elder kept going.

“Lex, Gary’s no slouch. If he wasn’t strong, he never would’ve managed to kick Cristia out of the clan leader spot,” the Grand Elder said.
“And let’s talk looks, he’s one of the most handsome foxes in the whole clan.
“He’s got a lot going for him. If you like him, you could totally make him your mate.
“Our fox clan is known for being loyal. If you take Gary as your mate, it’ll only bring you benefits, no downsides at all.”
When the Grand Elder finished, Gary, still kneeling, shot Lexie a look full of hope without even realizing it.
But Lexie was so overwhelmed she didn’t even notice.
“Um, Grand Elder, I’ve already formed a mate bond with Cristia, so I probably can’t make another one with Gary, can I?” Lexie said, sounding a bit flustered.
“Sure you can! Why not? Your Highness, you’re unique, if you want it, nothing’s off limits.
“Take Cristia, take Gary, if you want, you can pick any beastman in the whole fox clan to be your mate,” the Grand Elder said, his tone full of encouragement.
Lexie let out an awkward little laugh.
After hearing the Grand Elder say that, Lexie forced a smile, and her gaze awkwardly met Gary’s.
When she caught the hopeful yet awkward look in Gary’s eyes, just as she was about to say something, she could clearly see him mouthing something rude at her.
Lexie could totally tell Gary just mouthed ‘ugly female‘ at her. What a dead fox.
‘Unbelievable! Here I am trying to save his sorry fox hide, and this punk is still badmouthing me,‘ Lexie grumbled to herself.
‘Great, just great, Lexie thought sarcastically.
Suddenly, as if a lightbulb went off in her head, Lexie’s expression changed in an instant. She turned to the Grand Elder, looking a little embarrassed.
“Um, Grand Elder, I do want to take Gary as my mate, but… he’s just too young,” Lexie said, trying to sound apologetic.
“Too young? Your Highness, Gary and Cristia are about the same age. He’s a grown man, he’s definitely not too young,” the Grand Elder replied, looking a bit puzzled.
“No, it’s not about his age. It’s just… his little brother is kinda on the small side. I saw it myself, definitely not impressive, and honestly, it looked super fragile,” Lexie said, trying to sound serious but failing to hide her awkwardness.
“I dumped a whole bottle of ice water down his pants, and he totally freaked out. If I hadn’t handed him the medical device in time, Gary would probably be joining the girls‘ club by now,” Lexie added, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Ah…” Gary blurted out, completely stunned.
“Lexie, you’re talking crap! You ugly female, stop making up nonsense!” Gary yelled, his face flushed with rage.
As the Grand Elder struggled to process what he’d just heard, Gary’s furious voice echoed through the room.
“Lexie, you’re making stuff up!” Gary shouted, his face turning red with anger.

“Hey, I’m not making anything up! Every word I said is the truth. Tell everyone, didn’t I just dump a bottle of ice water down your pants yesterday, and you almost switched teams right then and there?
“And as for whether your so–called little brother is actually small, talk is cheap. Unless you wanna prove it to everyone right now, nobody’s gonna believe you!” Lexie shot back, her tone dripping with sass.
“You!” Gary sputtered, so furious he could barely get the word out.
Lexie’s words made Gary so mad he was practically hopping with rage.
Is she seriously expecting me to whip it out in front of everyone? If I actually did that, there’s no way I’d ever live it down!” Gary thought, his face burning with embarrassment.
‘But if I don’t prove it, then everyone’s gonna think I really am tiny,‘ he fumed, feeling even more frustrated.
