But when I was on the brink of death. Lex, it was you who pulled me back. If it hadn’t been for you, I wouldn’t be standing here now,he added.

Lex, you didn’t just save me, you saved Gary, and you saved our whole NineTailed Fox clan.

You rescued our entire clan, so honestly, no one deserves to hold this staff more than you do.

Hearing this, Lexie gripped the affan her hand and turned to meet Cristia’s gaze, her eyes full of confusion.

Cristia, just like Gary said, I’m not goodlooking, I’m not easy to get along with, and I don’t have any real skills, she said.

Other than the fact that I’m a female, what is it you actually like about me? Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn’t go for someone with my kind of personality.

I know my own worth, trust me.”

Lex, you saved my life,” Cristia said.

Hey, don’t tell me you think you have to repay me just because I saved you. Seriously, if the one who saved you was some old, ugly beastman, would you still feel like you owed them anything? Lexie replied.

No, I wouldn’t. But Lex, you’re a female. You saved me and looked after me for so long.

Spending all that time together, I just couldn’t help but fall for you.

If you really want to know what it is I like about you

Honestly, I can’t even explain it. Whenever I see you, I just feel happy, like my whole mood lifts.

If you want me to spell it out, the truth is, the person I like is you. That’s all there is to it.

As for you saying you’re not gifted or beautiful, honestly, that stuff just doesn’t matter to me at all.

Lex, you saw it yourself today, in our NineTailed Fox clan, nobody’s ugly. Just look around.

And about talent, I’ve been around long enough to pick up everything I was supposed to, and even stuff I probably shouldn’t have.

But even after learning all that, none of it ever made my life feel any more exciting.

Lex, before you came into my life, I honestly thought it would always be all duty and no spark.

But after meeting you, it’s like you brought light into my world.

Your smile, your words, every little thing you do, they’re like warm sunshine, brightening up the darkest corners of my life.

Now, I find myself looking forward to every single day, just because I can’t wait to see you, to spend time with you.

You brought color into my life and gave it real meaning. I’m not just some robot, just going through the motions and carrying out responsibilities anymore.

Lex, you gave me a new lease on life. You made me find joy and hope in living again, Cristia answered.

Chapter 132

After hearing Cristia pour his heart out, Lexie pressed her lips together awkwardly, not quite sure how to react.

Honestly, his words made her feel selfconscious and embarrassed, because she really didn’t think she was as great as he said she was.

Before she ended up in this world, Lexie was just your average girl, sure, she had a little cash, but she was basically just another face in the crowd, nothing special.

But now, hearing Cristia praise her like that, Lexie couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed, but also secretly pleased.

See? I’m not totally useless after all, right?she thought to herself.

What was that saying again? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Looks like I’m Cristia’s dream girl now, she mused.

Just as Lexie was secretly enjoying the moment, Gary’s next comment made her instantly furious.

Pfft! Lexie, as if you’re anything to look at. Cristia is just buttering you up. Do you really think you’re all that? Look at you, getting all full of yourself,Gary scoffed.

Get lost, you stupid fox! I love hearing compliments, deal with it! I didn’t ask you to butter me up, so back off,Lexie shot back.

After shooting Gary a glare, Lexie, under Gary’s disapproving stare, grabbed Cristia’s hands and acted all mushy on purpose.

Cristia, I like you too. I’ll admit, I’m pretty superficial, I just like that you’re hot, you’ve got a great body, you never lose your temper, and you’re ridiculously sweet, she said.

Lex, I swear I’ll work on being even more your type. If I get even hotter, will you love me more?Cristia said with a playful

wink.

Heh, you’ll get a ten out of ten from me,” Lexie shot back with a mischievous laugh.

Honestly, with Cristia’s dropdead gorgeous looks, how could Lexie not be head over heels for him?

Meanwhile, Lexie and Cristia were all loveydovey, while Gary was sulking in the corner, looking like he’d just swallowed a lemon.

He’d always been butting heads with Lexie, but it wasn’t like he actually hated her. It’s just that from the very start, they’d been bickering nonstop, and now he had no idea how to swallow his pride and make peace with her.

What really got under his skin was seeing Lexie’s face go back to being plain and ordinary. It just pissed him off to no end.

After he gave her the fox bead, her face had gotten way prettier. But in no time at all, it was back to looking just like before.
