“No way. Even if they had a million guts, they wouldn’t dare lay a finger on Marshal Drake,” Arthur said.
“Why?” Lexie asked.
“What?” Arthur replied.
“I mean, why wouldn’t they dare touch Marshal Drake?” Lexie clarified.
“Lex, do you know how Marshal Drake managed to become Marshal of the Aetherion Empire while still so young?” Arthur asked.
“I don’t know,” Lexie replied.
Lexie shook her head, completely honest.
“Lex, do you know anything about Austin’s background?” Arthur asked.
“Uh… no,” Lexie replied.
She’d been so caught up in her romance with Austin that thoughts about his background or family history never even crossed her mind.
With his cool, striking presence, every gesture radiating maturity, and his unwavering focus at work, Austin was simply magnetic.
He had Lexie so completely absorbed in their relationship that not even for a moment did she wonder about his background or where he came from.
She’d never asked Austin about where he came from, and honestly, the thought of digging into his past had never even crossed her mind.
To Lexie, Austin was simply Austin, the man who was always by her side, giving her warmth and strength.
Plus, Austin never volunteered anything about his own story, and Lexie had her own secrets she kept close to her chest.
That was exactly why she always steered clear of anything to do with origins or family history.
But now, seeing Arthur’s serious face as he asked about Austin’s past, Lexie found herself suddenly curious about the man she’d fallen for.
“Dr. Cole, can you tell me? I really want to know what Marshal Drake’s story is,” Lexie said.
Arthur met her curious gaze and answered softly.
“Lex, Marshal Drake was born in a Genesis Pod, engineered with the genes of both the previous General of the Aetherion Federation and the Marshal of the Aetherion Empire,” Arthur explained.
“He’s got both royal blood from the Aetherion Federation and the Aetherion Empire. His parents gave their lives for the entire Aetherion Interstellar Zone.
“After they died, since Marshal Drake grew up in the Empire, it was only natural for him to step into his father’s shoes and
become the Marshal.
“His parents died fighting for everyone in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone, and every single person there owes them a debt

they can never repay.
“That’s why, after Marshal Drake’s parents passed, a rule was set in stone across the whole Aetherion Interstellar Zone
“No matter how much the Federation, the Empire, or those powerful clans fought and schemed, one thing was clear nobody was allowed to lay a finger on Marshal Drake.
“If anyone ever dared to hurt Marshal Drake, they’d instantly become the sworn enemy of everyone in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone.
That’s exactly why I’d rather believe someone’s just managed to trap Marshal Drake than even consider that something bad could’ve happened to him, Arthur said.
Lexie stared at Arthur, completely stunned.
‘Marshal Drake’s background is really that unbelievable? Both his parents were champions? she thought, her mind spinning
But what kind of battle could have claimed both their lives? she wondered, her heart aching for him.
But now wasn’t the time to ask. All she could do was wait
She had to wait for William and Nelson to get her word, hopefully, that Austin was okay.
So Lexie waited anxiously, and by the time morning rolled around, the news finally came in from the Federation.
Just like Arthur said, there was no doubt about it, Austin had really been trapped
Turned out, the one who’d caught him was Kaelis, the leader of the Snow Wolf Clan
Kaelis had the ability to read minds, and when he met Austin, he peeked into his thoughts and discovered Lexie.
Obsessed with getting Lexie, Kaelis locked Austin inside an illusion he created using some kind of device.
After Nelson teamed up with William and Serenus to rescue Austin, they had planned to nab Kaelis, the leader of the Snow
Wolf Clan
But Kaelis was just too clever for them
Before Nelson could even get close, Kaelis read their minds and made his escape early.
Now that Austin was out of danger, even Ryker Griffin, his loyal right–hand man, was safe and sound
When Lexie got the news, she finally felt like she could breathe again, the worry that had been gripping her heart eased up at Last.
When Austin called her himself to let her know he was safe, Lexie’s tears finally spilled over, she just couldn’t hold them back anymore.
“Austin, thank god you’re alright. You have no idea. I’ve been worried sick about you these past few days. When I talked to the guy who was pretending to be you, I could tell something was off about the way he spoke.
“I never would’ve imagined you’d actually be in danger, Lexie choked out, her voice trembling with emotion.
On the video call. Austin saw Lexie trying so hard not to cry. His heart ached for her, but even more, he was deeply touched by how much she cared about him.
