So nobody really believed the High Priest when he said all the females would die from a virus and eventually be wiped out.

Everyone thought the High Priest was just joking around, but out of nowhere, after a meteor shower, the Clyssia Virus appeared.

The Clyssia Virus was completely unstoppable. Females died in waves, one after another. When everyone was totally helpless, that was when someone suddenly remembered the High Priest’s prophecy.

When everyone went to him for help, they hadn’t even reached the Snow Wolf Clan before news came that the High Priest was already dead.

After the new High Priest took over, he couldn’t do anything about the Clyssia Virus either.

When everyone begged him for help, he only said one thing.

To be honest, Gary’s first reaction was pure skepticism; he didn’t buy it at all.

After all, everyone living on Merfolk Island was the cream of the crop. Not only were they privileged, but their abilities were second to none.

People like them were the ones others admired, they weren’t the type to ever be caught up in some bloody calamity.

Right now, Gary was genuinely curious: who could possibly threaten them, or even get close enough to harm Lexie, with all the protection surrounding her?

Whether or not that bloody disaster would really hit in a few months, they had to make sure they were ready for anything.

With that thought, Gary started walking toward Arthur and Cristia’s room.

Some things were just better talked over with everyone.

In the medical bay, Arthur’s expression turned cold as he listened to Gary.

“Kaelis actually said that? He thinks we, and L.ex, are in for some bloody trouble?” Arthur said, frowning.

“That’s right. Arthur, you’ve got the broadest perspective here. Seriously, with the kind of status we have, who’d have the guts

Cristia, standing off to the side, instantly grew serious as he listened to Gary.

“Yeah, who could possibly hurt us? And more importantly, who could even get close to Lexie, with all the protection we’ve got around her?” Cristia asked.

Hearing Cristia’s question, Arthur racked his brain, but honestly, he couldn’t think of anyone who could actually threaten them.

Seeing Arthur fall silent, Kaelen, sitting nearby, couldn’t help but look serious too.

“Doesn’t matter if that bloody calamity really hits or not, since the High Priest said it, we need to be ready,” Kaelen said, his tone firm.

“Merfolk Island is our sacred ground. Unless I say so, nobody’s getting in, no outsiders, period.

“I’ll head out and set things up right now. Our people will take turns guarding the island day and night. Not a single soul gets past us, I promise,” he continued.

“I’ll get the Fox Clan on standby. They’re all elite, and with them quietly watching Lex’s back, I doubt anything bad will happen,” Cristia said.

“But even if something does go down, they’ll be there to step in and help,” he added.

“Alright, I’ll load Lex up with extra protection. And I’ll prep a few more treatment pods, just in case,” Arthur said.

“I’ll also set up some backup spots with folks I trust. If this place stops being safe, we’ll grab Lex and get out, we’ll have somewhere secure to land,” he added.

“Sounds good. Let’s get moving. Oh, and don’t forget to let Marshal Drake and Nelson know about this,” Gary said.

“Those two are sharp and always have a few tricks up their sleeves. With them on our side, maybe we can dodge this so- called bloody disaster without breaking a sweat,” he added.

“Alright, let’s split up and get to work. And remember, if that so–called bloody disaster really does strike in a few months…” Arthur said.

At this point, He fixed his gaze on Kaelen, Cristia, and Gary, his voice grave and commanding.

“You three are Lex’s mates. If anything happens to her, I expect you to protect her, even if it costs you everything.

“Any one of us here can die, but Lex must survive, no matter what. If we fall, the Aetherion Interstellar Zone won’t be affected in the slightest.

“But if Lex is lost, then all our hopes and future will be gone,” Arthur continued.

“I will,” Kaelen said, his voice steady and resolute.

“Even if it costs me my life, I won’t let anything happen to Lex,” Cristia vowed, his tone unwavering.
