As Austin left, Nelson, standing off to the side, spoke in a low, serious voice.

“Arthur, if you ever need anything, just let me know. Since Lex is a female, if there’s anything I can do, I’ll help you out.”

“Thank you, Your Highness,” Arthur replied.

Whenever Arthur was around Nelson, he always kept his attitude respectful but distant. He knew Nelson well, he was the very definition of a sophisticated self–serving type.

Even though both Nelson and Austin held high positions, they couldn’t be more different in how they dealt with people and problems.

So when Nelson offered to help, Arthur thought to himself, I know exactly what Nelson’s offer really means.

These are Lex’s children, Arthur thought.

Kaelen blinked at him, totally baffled. “Arthur, there are only three eggs. How could there be four babies? Are you messing with me or just sleep–deprived?”

Arthur, still buzzing with excitement, pointed at one of the eggs. “No, seriously! In this egg, there are actually two little female mermaids, hugging each other tight.”

“What did you just say?” Kaelen blurted out, staring in shock.

As Arthur explained, Kaelen stared at the biggest egg, his eyes practically sparkling with excitement.

“Wait, you mean there are actually two little females in the biggest egg?” Kaelen asked, his voice trembling with excitement.

“That’s right, there really are two little female mermaids in this egg. Kaelen, don’t think I’m showing favoritism, but having two hatchlings from one egg is crazy rare.

“And since they’re both getting their nutrients from the same egg, seriously, you’ve got to be super careful with them. Treat them like the most precious thing in the world, don’t let anything happen to them, okay?” Arthur said.

“I will, I promise I’ll take the best care of them. Arthur, they’re our babies, Lex and mine.

“Not for anything in the world would I let anything happen to them,” Kaelen replied.

Kaelen was absolutely over the moon when he heard there were two little ones in the biggest egg-

‘Oh my god! Ever since I inherited the merfolk legacy, I’ve never, ever heard of a merfolk king hatching two babies from one egg. Kaelen thought, his heart racing with excitement.
