The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 157

Really? But High Priest, I always feel like my mind is a total blank. I have no clue about anything happening around me,Lexie said.

And it’s not just that. I feel completely lost when it comes to normal life. I can’t even name any of these gadgets around me, and I’m dying to check out everything, but I just don’t have the guts, she added.

This sucks, honestly,Lexie muttered, frustration clear in her voice.

Hearing Lexie say that, the High Priest gently helped her into the scanning pod, then ran a gentle scan on her with his fair hand.

Once the scan was complete and he saw that her body was back to normal, he finally breathed a deep sigh of relief.

When Lexie gave birth to those three mer eggs, Arthur used the treatment pod to make sure the whole process was painless and smooth.

Whatever method Arthur used to get those eggs out, there was one thing he knew for sure.

Back then, Lexie was at her most fragile.

And with all the chaos going on, every injury her mate had ended up getting transferred to her.

Arthur healed those wounds as fast as he could, but even after they closed up, the pain was still there, how could her body possibly take it?

When he brought Lexie back from the Merfolk Island, her unique scent lingered for days.

Worried it might affect the beastmen of the Snow Wolf Clan, the High Priest had her stay with him deep in the snowy mountains for a few days, away from everyone else.

Only after her scent finally faded did he feel safe bringing her back to the Snow Wolf Clan.

But during those few days alone together, Lexie’s scent ended up giving the High Priest a surprise he never expected.

It turned out that the scent Lexie carried after giving birth could actually heal his gene disease.

As the High Priest of the Snow Wolf Clan, he’d carried the memories and powers of all the previous High Priests since the day he was born.

But because his abilities were so overwhelming, his gene disease was even worse than what most beastmen had to deal with.

Back then, his gene disease nearly drove him to the brink, life felt like a living hell.

Afraid he might hurt innocent people during a flareup, even as the High Priest of the Snow Wolf Clan, he didn’t dare live with his own people.

He’d always thought that in a few decades, when his gene disease couldn’t be cured anymore, he’d raise a successor to take over as High Priest.

And then, he’d finally return to the earth and let his soul move on.

Longevity was the last thing he wanted.

With that damned gene disease making his life a living hell, what good was a long life anyway?

But what really surprised the High Priest was that just a few days alone with Lexie ended up making such a difference.

During those days, he did feel the pull of her scent, but thanks to his powerful abilities and strong selfdiscipline, he was able to keep himself in check.

So even with Lexie’s gentle fragrance lingering around him, the High Priest could stay composed and unaffected.

What he hadn’t expected at all was that, even though Lexie spent most of those days asleep, her subtle scent somehow made him grow more and more fond of her without him even realizing it.

His growing affection for Lexie made him reevaluate his own existence, giving him a fresh perspective on the life he’d always thought was so dull and empty.

Even as the High Priest of the Snow Wolf Clan, he found that his heart could still race, his mind could spark with energy, and his emotions could blaze just as fiercely as anyone else’s.

Just when the High Priest’s crush on Lexie maxed out, something truly unbelievable happened.

After going several days without a single flareup of his gene disease, he gave himself a checkup, and to his utter shock, he was completely cured, just from spending a few days with Lexie.

Turned out, it was Lexie’s scent that worked the miracle and healed his gene disease.

Once his gene disease was cured, the High Priest finally felt at ease in his own skin, he was more alive than ever.

And when it came to Lexie, his crush on her had hit the max.

The High Priest knew it deep down, he’d fallen hard for this adorable female named Lexie standing right in front of him.

Sure, it all happened in a whirlwind, but feelings were feelings. Why bother hiding it or pretending he didn’t like her?

Because of the mask he always wore, Lexie had no clue about the heat burning in the High Priest’s eyes every time he looked at her.

As Lexie stepped out of the scanning pod, she watched the High Priest sitting across from her, prepping a dose for her. His mask kept his face hidden, and that chilly, aloof aura around him was hard to miss.

Lexie hesitated for a long moment, then finally blurted out a question.

Um, High Priest?she said.

What’s wrong, Lex?he replied.

When Lexie looked up and met the High Priest’s cool, crystalclear eyes, she couldn’t help but freeze, completely captivated.

Honestly, it was because his eyes were just breathtakingly beautiful.

With that ethereal, distant aura he always carried, his eyes were like a deep, icy lake, so clear, yet hiding a subtle warmth one could barely sense.

It felt like they could see straight into her soul, and she couldn’t help but want to lose herself in them.

The glimmer in his eyes was like the brightest star in the night sky, Lexie simply couldn’t tear her gaze away

She felt herself drawn in, as if those eyes could swallow her whole, pulling her into their endless depths,
