“Open your eyes and take a good look at me! I’m way better–looking than the High Priest. Lex, look at me! I’m the prettiest one here, your sweetheart, your little happy pill.
“You can’t just ditch me because you lost your memory! You’ve already had my body, you know. If you don’t like me anymore just because you forgot everything,
“Then I… I might as well not live anymore…” Gary continued.
Listening to Gary’s voice getting more and more worked up, almost hysterical, Lexie felt like her head was going to explode.
Ugh, Gary’s voice is so shrill! It’s giving me a headache,‘ Lexie grumbled to herself.
She gently rubbed her temples, trying to ease the pain.
But Gary thought Lexie was feeling guilty because he’d struck a nerve, so he turned up the drama even more.
‘Lex, just think about it! You used to be totally obsessed with me, always sticking to me like glue, wanting to spend every single day together.
‘And you even said you wanted to have a whole bunch of little cubs with me!
‘Lex, you can’t just abandon me because you lost your memory! I’m yours now. If you don’t want me anymore, how am I supposed to live?
‘Lex, how can you be so cruel? How could you treat me like this? How could you let some seductive vixen from outside steal your heart away…” Gary said.
“Stop, stop, stop…” Lexie finally cut him off.
Lexie just sighed, feeling helpless, and said, “Since I saw the High Priest’s face, I guess I’m stuck with him now.”
‘And then what?” Gary demanded, his lips trembling with emotion.
Gary’s lips quivered, his face the picture of heartbreak.
“I’ll be with the High Priest, but… you, Gary, you’ll always be my little happy pill, my one and only, okay?” Lexie said, her voice soft and teasing.
“Really?” Gary asked in a pitiful voice, trying to hide his smile as he saw Lexie’s awkward face.
“Really,” Lexie replied.
“Knew it! I just knew I was your favorite, Lex,” Gary said with a proud little smirk.
As he spoke, Gary leaned forward, pressing his whole weight onto Lexie.
Lexie started to fall back under his weight, but Gary caught her just in time and wrapped her up in his arms.
“Lex, I’m crazy about you! I’m your favorite, right?” Gary said, his voice dripping with affection.
As he spoke, Gary flashed a cocky, taunting grin at the unmasked High Priest, making sure Lexie couldn’t see him.
‘Hmph! Trying to steal my mate? Please. Does he even know who he’s messing with?‘ Gary scoffed to himself.

Chapter 160
‘I’m hands down the hottest nine–tailed fox in the whole clan!

When it comes to charm, no beastman from any clan can hold a candle to me. Even if he’s the High Priest, if he can’t flirt, tease, or out–seduce me, he’ll always be playing second fiddle,‘ Gary thought to himself.
Facing Gary’s smug grin, the High Priest didn’t even flinch. He just looked at him with that calm, almost bored expression, like he was watching a kid throw a tantrum.
The High Priest’s gaze was so chill and unfazed, it made Gary look like he was just some clown trying way too hard to steal the spotlight.
Under that steady, crystal–clear stare, Gary’s bravado totally crumbled, he was completely thrown off his game.
He shot the High Priest a sulky glare, then leaned in and planted a big, dramatic kiss on Lex’s cheek, his voice all sweet and whiny.
“Lex, it’s been ages since we last saw each other. Can I stay with you tonight? Please?” Gary asked.
“Sure!” Lexie said.
“No,” the High Priest said at the same time.
Lexie and the High Priest answered in unison.
Seeing Lexie’s puzzled look, the High Priest said calmly, “Lex’s still not fully recovered. You can’t stay in her room.”
“Why can’t I stay in the same room as Lex? If we bunk together, I can take care of her if she needs anything in the middle of the night,” Gary protested, sounding all innocent and aggrieved.
“High Priest, don’t tell me you think I’d do something to Lex, huh?” Gary pouted, feigning indignation and shooting the High Priest a teasing look.
Seeing the High Priest’s poker face, Gary immediately switched to an over–the–top tone.
He said, “Whoa, High Priest, I always thought you were Mr. Holier–Than–Thou! But who knew you had such a wild imagination?
‘I just wanna take care of Lex, okay? How could you even think I’d try something funny with her? That’s kinda messed up, you know!”
After that, Gary gave an exaggerated sigh and shook his head, looking all wounded and let down.
Seeing Gary acting all smug and cocky, the High Priest just shot him a bored look and replied in a deadpan voice.
“Little fox, you’re way overthinking this, he said.
Seeing the High Priest still acting all cool and indifferent, Gary was totally at a loss.
He could only turn to Lexie again, giving her his best puppy eyes.
‘Lex, just look at the High Priest, he…” Gary pleaded, his voice soft and pitiful.
But before Gary could get another word out, Lexie jumped in.
She said, “Gary, just do what the High Priest says, alright? I’m still not feeling great, I really need to rest up.
