The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 17

Chapter 17

If anyone heard Lexie cry in pain, her real identity would be exposed.

She wasn’t an artificial bot. She was a real human, fighting a deadly disease.

Her whole body ached, and the pain was too much to handle.

In the midst of that agony, Lexie kept chugging down nutrient fid.

She kept repeating to herself, Just drink the nutrient fluid, the pain will stop.

She kept chugging nutrient fluid until her stomach was stretched to its limit, and when the nausea hit her like a tidal wave, she had no choice but to rush to the bathroom and retch violently.

Lexie lost track of time, lost in the haze of pain, but when she finally coughed up a mouthful of blood, her agony dulled a bit.

Staring at the crimson stain in the sink, Lexie knew that her condition was spiraling out of control.

If this kept up, she doubted she’d last more than a few days.

So before death came knocking, she had to use that treatment pod to try and fix her body.

Even if it meant risking her secret being exposed, she had to give it a shot. Because right now, nothing scared her more than dying.

That night, Lexie gritted her teeth and powered through the pain. By the time morning came, her body felt noticeably better.

She blinked awake, her eyelids heavy as lead. She lay there for a while, gathering her strength. Once she felt steady enough. she freshened up and made her way to Arthur’s lab.

As soon as she stepped inside, Lexie noticed the lab was packed with way more patients than usual.

While Lexie was curiously observing the incoming patients, Arthur called out to her. Lex, you look terrible today. What’s going on? Are you feeling sick? Come on, lie down in the scanning pod. Let me run a check on you.

When Arthur reached out to guide her toward the scanning pod Lexie’s nerves shot through the roof. She shook her head hard, refusing to go anywhere near it.

Lexie thought, I know exactly what that pod does. It picks up every little thing wrong with your body. If I get in there, it’ll totally expose that I’m not a bot, but a real human.’

If that thing reveals my secret, who knows what will happen? Wat if I end up on some lab table, getting sliced up and poked at like a science experiment?

To be honest, after jumping off that cliff and dying once already Lexie was more scared of death than ever.

Seeing Lexie shake her head so insistently, Arthur had to stop, ging her a puzzled look. Lex, what’s up with you today? You look seriously pale. Something’s gotta be wrong with your body, right?

Relax, I’m the top doc in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone. I treat both humans and artificial female bots.

Just hop into the scanning pod. Once I run the scan, I’ll take can of whatever’s going on.

Lexie replied, Thanks, Dr. Cole, but I’m okay. I just pulled an all nighter on my Optic Brain, so my head’s a little fuzzy this morning. Just a little rest will be enough.

Really?Arthur studied Lexie’s ghostly pale face and bloodless bs. Something about her just didn’t sit right with him.

From his experience, Lexie’s symptoms would only show up in males.

But Lexie was just an artificial female bot. He couldn’t figure out how she have symptoms only real females got when they were sick.

Still, he was sure that it was impossible for Lexie to be a real fenle. The Clyssia Virus made sure no female could survive out in the world.

With that in mind, Arthur let it go. He grabbed a compact medical device from the side and handed it to Lexie.

He instructed, Here, Lex. Just press right here on the device. When the blue light shows up, point it at your body.

This is the newest model. It works for both females and artificial female bots.

Take it to the lounge and treat yourself. Once you’re feeling better, come back out.”

Okay, thanks, Dr. Cole,” Lexie replied.

With that, she took the compact medical device and headed off the lounge.

Following Arthur’s instructions, Lexie aimed the blue light at herself. As soon as it touched her skin, a wave of comfort washed over her, and she couldn’t help but close her eyes, savoring the feeling.

She could clearly feel all that restless discomfort inside her body slowly melting away under the gentle glow of the blue light.

It felt so good that Lexie almost wanted to stay lost in that sensation forever, never wanting to snap out of it.

After a long moment, when the blue glow from the device finally faded away, Lexie let her eyes flutter open.

She focused on how she felt inside and realized that all the pain and discomfort had vanished. In its place was a lightness and comfort she’d never known before.

Staring at the device in her hand, Lexie felt a wave of pure relief||

Lexie thought, still amazed, The medical tech in this Aetherion Interstellar Zone is honestly off the charts. I don’t know if this little device can actually heal my incurable disease, but just having it take away the pain for now is a miracle in my book.

She pulled herself together, and as she stepped out of the loung with the medical device in hand, she nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw Austin standing right there at the door.

Marshal Drake?Lexie blurted out.

Arthur said you weren’t feeling well. What’s wrong? Why don’t you have him check you out?Austin asked.

I’m good, Marshal. Just spent way too long on my Optic Brain 1st night and didn’t get much sleep,Lexie said.

Really?

Yeah.”

Lexie met Austin’s sharp gaze, feeling a pang of guilt.

Here, take this,Austin added.

Uh, what’s this?Lexie asked, puzzled.

Austin explained, It’s a compact medical device the military use Keep it on you. It’ll be useful. And these are crystal shards. They’re used to power it.

Lex, since I’m your master now, it’s on me to keep you safe.

Oh, and keep some virtual money. We’ll be landing on Dophi Planet in a few days. Dophi Planet is super lively. I bet you’ll love it once you see it.

It’s for you to buy whatever you want. I have no idea what you’re into. Just take the money and treat yourself. Don’t bother saving it for me. I’ve got more than enough.”

Oh, thanks, Marshal Drake,Lexie replied.

No big deal, but there’s a catch. My shoulders are killing me. Guess there’s something wrong with my body. How about you give me a quick massage? We’ll call it your way of paying me back for the meds.”

Alright, Marshal Drake. Have a seat. Let me work on your shoulders,” Lexie glanced up at Austin, who was a whole head taller than her, and spoke with extra enthusiasm.

Seeing Lexie trying so hard to please him, Austin’s mood instantly lifted for no reason at all.

He sat down in the chair and, without a second thought, took off his shirt, baring his solid, powerful shoulders.

When his bare shoulders came into view, Lexie immediately no ced two odd bumps sticking out. She blinked, genuinely puzzled, and blurted out, Marshal Drake, what are the bumps on your shoulders?
