“High Priest, it’s getting late. We should head back, Kaelis said, standing off to the side.

He watched the dejected look on the High Priest’s face. Kaelis felt a pang of sadness too, but at least he could keep it together.
But seeing the High Priest’s sorrow, Kaelis couldn’t help but feel even more sorry for him.
The High Priest, a confirmed bachelor for ten thousand years, had finally figured out love. But before he could even taste the sweetness, he got a mouthful of heartbreak instead.
Seeing the High Priest so down, Kaelis didn’t dare crack a joke. He was afraid the High Priest might just deck him.
Besides, hadn’t he been out there with the High Priest in the snowstorm, sneaking a peek at the room where Lexie was staying?
Seeing Kaelis hesitate, the High Priest sighed inwardly, feeling resigned, and could only follow him away,
But instead of heading back to the Snow Wolf Clan’s sanctuary, High Priest shifted into his beast form, a massive snow wolf, and disappeared into the endless storm.
Watching the High Priest leave, Kaelis’s mood took a nosedive too.
If he’d known Gary was such a shameless charmer, he never would’ve brought that damn fox into the Snow Wolf Clan in the first place.

And now, just great, Gary had already swooped in and stolen his chance before he could even make a move. It was driving
him crazy.
Out in the raging blizzard, Kaelis didn’t feel the cold at all. He found a sheltered spot, shifted into his beast form, and just curled up in the snow to rest.
Now that the High Priest was gone, it was up to him to take over as the guardian for the Snow Wolf Clan.
After all, the Snow Wolf Clan had chosen to settle deep in the mountains for one reason, to protect their true master.
The High Priest had always said, as long as the beastmen of the Snow Wolf Clan were immortal and undying, they were bound to defend this land, no matter what.
Just as Kaclis was about to doze off in the snowstorm, a sudden movement in the howling wind made his cars twitch.
Snow clinging to his fur, he kept perfectly still, quietly watching the distant blizzard for any sign of trouble.
Meanwhile, all across the Snow Wolf Clan’s hidden corners, beastmen hunkered down under layers of snow, every eye fixed on where the wind was blowing in, muscles tense and ready.
Someone had broken into the Snow Wolf Clan’s domain.
The Snow Wolf Clan didn’t need looks, gestures, or even to speak at all to communicate
Their own signature scent was enough to let everyone know whatever was on their mind.
So even though Kaelis was lying silent in the snow, the beastmen hidden in the shadows got the message loud and clear
When he sensed an intruder, Kaelis sent out a message to his clan with just one thought Hide

Once they picked up Kaelis’s signal, the beastmen pressed themselves deeper into the snow, holding back any movement, becoming one with the blizzard and the snow around them.
Feeling his clan meld seamlessly into the blizzard, Kaelis lay motionless in the snow, his nerves stretched tight as a bowstring.
He waited, tense and silent, for the intruder. Anyone who could sneak into the Snow Wolf Clan’s territory without an invitation was definitely not average beastman.
Everyone in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone knew the Snow Wolf Clan flat–out rejected outsiders.
That was why even the Aetherion Empire and the Aetherion Federation wouldn’t even have thought about disturbing them unless it was a matter of life and death.
But now, someone had broken in during a raging snowstorm in the dead of night. Whoever it was, they clearly weren’t here with good intentions.
As the tension reached its peak, Kaelis’s eyes locked onto two beastmen with snowy white fur emerging from the blizzard. He was just about to strike when something unexpected happened.
In the raging snowstorm, just as those two white–furred beastmen started moving toward Kaelis, a sinister black force erupted from beneath the ground, coiling tightly around them. ‘
Before the intruders could even react, that black force morphed into razor–sharp blades, stabbing straight through their bodies.
When the blades pierced the intruders, not a single drop of blood stained the pristine snow.
As the black energy retreated back underground, all that remained on the white snow were two shriveled skeletons, completely drained of blood and flesh.
Kaelis’s face darkened as he took in the scene.
Stunned, he slowly rose to his feet and, step by step, approached the two shriveled skeletons lying in the snow.
Staring at the bloodless beastmen, Kaelis glanced up at the raging blizzard, regret gnawing at his heart.
Is that power underground getting too strong to contain?‘ he thought, anxiety creeping in.
The Snow Wolf Clan had always stood guard here, not just to keep outsiders out, but to make sure whatever was trapped underground never got loose.
But now, it felt like their hold on whatever was buried down there was slipping, they might not be able to keep it contained much longer.
If that thing ever got out, it would mean a whole new disaster for the entire Aetherion Interstellar Zone.
As Karlis stood deep in thought, staring at the bodies, he didn’t realize that a number of Snow Wolf Clan beaatinen had quietly gathered around him.
They remained in their beast forms, their expressions heavy as they stared at the bodies. They it all seen what went down
