Even though they were sprawled out in their beast forms on the snowy ground, their hind legs were braced and powerful, front paws clawing at the earth. Every part of their bodies was tensed, ready to explode into action at any second.
Their eyes flashed cold and sharp in the darkness, locked onto the direction of the strange noises drifting through the blizzard.
The odd sounds coming from the storm sent a jolt of warning through Kaelis’s mind. He instantly sensed something was off, and his whole body went rigid with tension.
Gary shot a look at the other beastmen, signaling them to get ready. His own muscles tightened, prepared to face whatever enemy might show up.
The noises in the wind and snow grew louder, something was definitely getting closer. Kaelis and the other beastmen held their breath, nerves taut, waiting for the moment to strike.
Amid the tense silence, a cloud of black mist tore through the blizzard, sharp and deadly like the Grim Reaper’s scythe, hurtling straight toward the beastmen of the Snow Wolf Clan.
“Everyone, get ready! We fight!” Kaelis barked.
At his command, beastmen of the Snow Wolf Clan who’d been lying low in the snow sprang to their feet in an instant.
They stood poised to strike, low, menacing growls escaping their mouths.
It sounded like they were hyping themselves up for the fight, or maybe sending a clear warning to whatever enemy was about to show up.
Just as the black mist, swept along by the raging blizzard, surged toward Kaelis and his pack, the battle erupted in an instant.
Right then, Gary, who’d been standing by the window, instantly picked up on something.
He snatched up the mask from the side and slipped it onto Lexie’s face, saying in a deep, urgent voice.
“Lex, activate the shield. Protect yourself,” he said.
Gary’s sudden move left Lexie totally bewildered, snapping her out of the cozy moment in an instant.
Seriously? What’s up with him all of a sudden?‘ Lexie thought, completely confused.
Just as Lexie reached for the mask, ready to ask what was happening, a scream from outside made her whole body tense up
in an instant.
She turned toward the sound, and in that split second, she saw a beastman of the Snow Wolf Clan ensnared by a thick. suffocating cloud of black mist.
The next moment, right before Lexie’s stunned eyes, the once–powerful beastman was tossed onto the snow by the black mist, now nothing but a bare, fleshless skeleton
Seeing that, Lexie was so shocked and terrified, she couldn’t stop shaking.
Is this the nightmare the Snow Wolf Clan has been facing all this time? Lexie thought, still in disbelief.
As Kaelis and other beastmen fought desperately against the black mist, Lexie watched in horror, especially when she saw two more of their clan get snatched away by that deadly fog. Fear gripped her so hard she clung to Gary’s hand, seeking

comfort.
Noticing Lexie’s fear, Gary squeezed her hand back, his voice soft, trying to comfort her.
“Lex, don’t be scared. I’m here. I won’t let those monsters hurt you,” he said.
“I… I…” Lexie stammered, her voice trembling.

sentence.
This is just… unbelievably terrifying,‘ Lexie thought, her heart pounding wildly.
Lexie’s voice shook as she stammered, “W–what… what is that?”
‘Bloodthirsty beast,” Gary answered grimly.
Lexie watched, trembling, as the black mist outside tangled with Kaelis in a vicious fight. Her voice barely above a whisper, she asked, “Bloodthirsty beast? What is that thing?”
‘It’s…” Gary began, his tone heavy.
ust as Gary was about to answer Lexie, maybe their voices startled the black mist outside.
Suddenly, the mist gave up fighting outside and went straight for Gary and Lexie.
Seeing this, Kaelis quickly broke away from the fight and threw himself in front of Lexie, his eyes fierce as he stared down he black mist barreling toward them.
Kaelis, be careful!” Gary held Lexie tightly, shielding her as he urgently called out the warning.
As Gary pulled her back, Lexie snapped out of her shock. Seeing Kaelis step protectively in front of them, a wave of warmth looded her heart.
But that feeling vanished in an instant, replaced by cold fear as the threat before her made her go pale.
The black mist shot forward with terrifying speed, reaching Kaelis in the blink of an eye. In the midst of the raging blizzard,
I morphed into a gigantic skeleton, jaws gaping wide, razor–sharp fangs bared as it snapped straight at him.
Kaelis, watch out! Gary, go help him!” Lexie cried out, her voice shaking with panic.
Seeing Kaelis struggling against the black mist, Lexie couldn’t help but shout, her heart pounding in fear.
No way. My only job is to keep you safe, Gary said, his grip tightening protectively around Lexie.
Lexie’s heart pounded as she saw Cary holding back, while the black mist had already coiled itself around Kaelis’s legs. squeezing tighter every second.
One wrong move, and Kaelis would be nothing but a cold, empty skeleton, just like those poor souls before him.
‘Gary, Kaelis is gonna die! Please, you have to help him, do something, now! Lexie pleaded, her voice shaking with fear.
Before Gary could even make a move, the black mist had already wrapped around Kaelis, lifting him into the air as he struggled desperately.
Lexie watched in horror as Kaelis writhed in pain, looking like he could become a soulless skeleton at any moment
