With her hands shaking from the cold, Lexie barely managed to fumble around in her storage space for a crystal core, groping in the pitch dark before finally slotting it into a small device.
n an instant, the darkness around her was pierced by a faint light. Lexie grabbed the lamp and looked around, only now ealizing she was sprawled out on a narrow ledge jutting from the cliff face.
The spot she was in had just enough space for her to sit, and the sheer, frozen drop loomed right behind her.
The blizzard howled up from the bottom of the cliff, battering her with wind and snow, threatening to knock her right off he edge.
To keep herself from falling, Lexie instinctively edged toward the slightly wider part of the ledge.
As she slowly edged backward, her hand suddenly brushed against something furry, sending a jolt through her.
When she turned around, looming behind her was a massive snow wolf.
‘rom the looks of it, this was Kaelis.
Seeing Kaelis barely clinging to life, Lexie struggled to crawl over to his side and placed her hand under his nose, lesperately hoping to feel any sign of breath.
But the wind and snow were so intense, and her hands were frozen stiff, Lexie couldn’t feel a thing.
Is he even still breathing? Or am I just too numb to tell?‘ Lexie thought, panic rising in her chest.
Lexie carefully glanced over her shoulder at the pitch–black cliff behind her. The howling wind and snow roared in her ears, nd her body was frozen stiff, both from the cold and fear.
she tilted her head up, trying to see the top of the cliff, but it was so high and so shrouded in darkness that all she could feel vas snow whipping against her face, she couldn’t even make out how far the cliff stretched above.
Lexie scanned her surroundings, realizing that if no one came to rescue her, she wouldn’t last the night, she’d freeze to death before sunrise.
And it wasn’t just her, Kaelis, the giant snow wolf, was just as doomed.
Kaelis, Kaelis, are you still alive?” Lexie called out, her voice shaking,
‘Kaelis, wake up! We have to get out of here. If we stay here tonight, we’re both gonna freeze,” Lexie begged, panic creeping into her words.
Lexie stared at Kaelis, but he was totally out cold, not a single reaction.
Lexie was so cold she instinctively buried herself in Kaelis’s fur, it was the only warmth she could find, and it felt unbelievably comforting against her frozen body.
While she was huddled there, Lexie tried using her Optic Brain to reach Gary, but no matter how many times she dialed, there was absolutely no signal in this godforsaken place, she couldn’t get through to anyone.
Until Gary shows up, I just have to make sure I don’t freeze to death out here, Lexie told herself, forcing herself to stay
calm.
Just as Lexie was deep in thought, she noticed Kaelis’s body give a little stir.

Her heart jumped, maybe he was finally waking up! But when she leaned in to check, he was still dead to the world, totally
knocked out.
‘Well, that was pointless. Got excited for nothing,‘ Lexie grumbled to herself.
Just as Lexie was about to curl up in Kaelis’s fur again, she spotted what looked like the entrance to a cave hidden behind his massive body.
“Wait, is that a cave? Maybe I won’t freeze to death after all, Lexie thought, hope sparked in her chest.
Driven by this new hope, Lexie nudged and pushed Kaelis’s huge frame aside, finally revealing the cave entrance he’d been blocking.
After a real struggle, Lexie finally managed to crawl inside. Aside from some snow blowing in near the entrance, the cave was huge and, thankfully, dry.
Thank goodness, I finally have somewhere to hide from this blizzard,‘ Lexie thought, letting out a sigh of relief.
Kaelis was a snow wolf, he didn’t give a damn about the storm. But Lexie? She didn’t have a fur coat to keep her warm. Unlike Kaelis, I’m freezing my butt off here!‘ she thought, shivering.
Lexie checked out the cave with her lamp, and luckily, she didn’t spot anything creepy hiding inside.
The cave stretched way back into the darkness, but she wasn’t about to worry about whatever might be lurking deep inside right now.
Right now, her only priority was not turning into an icicle.
After checking out the cave, Lexie made her way to the entrance and gave it everything she had, trying to haul Kaelis inside.
But Kaelis’s beast form was just way too massive and heavy. Lexie struggled for ages, but he didn’t budge an inch.
Not knowing what else to do, Lexie instinctively reached into her storage space, just wanting to grab a blanket and throw it over Kaelis to block out the cold.
But whether it was because she was so flustered or her hands were just frozen stiff, she somehow fished out a round object instead.
Lexie looked down at the thing in her hand, having no idea what she was even holding.
She pressed the button, and with a flash of white light, two large robots and a tiny fuzzy creature suddenly appeared out of nowhere right in front of her.
Lexie just gawked at the two robots and the little furball that instantly started rubbing against her, she was so shocked she froze, not even sure what she was supposed to do.
“Who are you guys? Lexie finally managed to ask, her voice shaky.
She nudged the little furball that was snuggling up to her aside, then looked at the two robots standing in front of her with a puzzled look.
“Master, what’s wrong? Did you forget about us? one of the robots asked, sounding a little laut.
“Master, it’s been ages! Why did you only just let us out of the storage space now!
“Look at Fluffy, he’s been stuck in there for so long, he’s gotten all skinny from hunger, the other robor chimed in, sounding
a bit worried.
