The moment Lexie heard Ryker ask her to help Amya, she felt completely off balance.
Lexie thought, ‘Wait. What is Ryker even thinking? He wants me, an artificial female bot, to save a real female? Does he even hear himself? That makes absolutely no sense!
Ryker asked, “What’s wrong, Lex? You don’t want to help her?”
Lexie said, “Me? Ryker, I’m just an artificial female bot created in a laboratory. And now you want me to save a real female? Do you think this idea even makes sense?”
Ryker replied, “We know it doesn’t make sense. But Lex, we have no other choice. If we had any other wouldn’t have asked you to save Ms. Reyes.”

Hearing that, Lexie felt a sharp pain in her head. Honestly, she really wanted to refuse. After all, she couldn’t even take care of herself.
Lexie had a terminal illness, and her body ached so badly at times that she thought she might not even make it. With her fragile condition, she didn’t know how long she could survive.
Yet, facing Ryker’s request, no matter how unwilling she felt, Lexie had no choice but to agree. After thinking it over carefully, she nodded in agreement.
The reason Lexie agreed, besides being unable to refuse Ryker, was that Amya was currently in the medical bay.
There was a treatment pod there. As long as Lexie stayed with Amya, Lexie could always find a chance to use the pod to treat her own terminal illness.
Following Ryker to the medical bay, Lexie opened the door and immediately saw Austin, who looked pale and exhausted. Austin’s handsome features were drawn and tired. Upon hearing the noise, he instinctively looked toward Lexie.
When Austin saw that it was Lexie, he tried to pull himself together and strode toward her. “Lex, from here on, I’m leaving it in your hands.”
Seeing the exhaustion in Austin’s eyes, Lexie asked with concern, “Marshal Drake, are you alright?”
Austin replied, “I’m fine. Lex, I’ve already informed Arthur. He’s in a nearby galaxy and will arrive here in two days. So for these two days, I’ll be leaving Ms. Reyes in your care.”
“Alright. I’ll stay with her the whole time.” Lexie nodded.
Seeing how drained and weary Austin looked, Lexie couldn’t bring herself to refuse. Besides, it was only two days, which was nothing for her.
More importantly, Lexie knew she had to make the most of these two days to use the treatment pod to heal her own terminal illness.
Austin said, “Lex, don’t worry. No matter the outcome, I won’t drag you into this mess. Trust me. I am your
master, and I will protect you.”
Under Lexie’s shocked gaze, Austin stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her. Though he let go after a moment, the brief hug made Lexie’s heart race uncontrollably.
She knew Austin had no other intention–he was simply comforting her–but she couldn’t stop her heart from fluttering. Her face warmed with a shy blush.
Seeing the flustered look on Lexie’s face, Austin stepped closer and looked at her, saying in a soft voice, “Lex, I’m really going to need your help for the next two days.”
At that, Lexie hurried to explain, “It’s no trouble at all. I mean it.”
“Lex, when things settle down, I’ll take you out for a walk. Let’s get some fresh air together.
“Alright. Marshal Drake, you also need to take care of yourself. Maybe by the time I’m done looking after Ms. Reyes, she’ll be fine.”
“Well, let’s hope so.”
Hearing Lexie say that, Austin forced an exhausted smile at her. But he couldn’t resist the urgings of the guards beside him and hurried off once again.
Watching Austin leave, Lexie thought he was nothing like the CEOs in the romance novels she had read, who always seemed to have endless time for love.
Austin, as the Marshal of the Aetherion Empire, seemed to let work take over every part of his life. He was a full–on workaholic.
Lexie thought it was a shame that he was practically married to his work. She figured she wouldn’t be able to date him.
With a long, inward sigh, Lexie followed the guards‘ directions and made her way toward Amya’s room.
When Lexie pushed open the door, she was greeted by a lavish room. Soft pink curtains swayed gently in the breeze, giving the space a dreamy, fairytale–like atmosphere.
Exquisite oil paintings adorned the walls, each radiating an air of artistry. The plush bed was covered in velvet bedding, with a few cute stuffed animals scattered across it. Every corner of the room carried a faint, soothing fragrance that made Lexie feel at ease.
Lexie glanced around at the room’s decorations. Even someone like her, who didn’t know much about luxury, could feel the weight of wealth in this space. She thought, ‘This place just smells like money!
Scanning the room, Lexie didn’t see Amya anywhere. She cautiously stepped inside and knocked on the doors of the various compartments one by one.
When Lexie reached the dressing room, a clear, melodic female voice came from inside. It was Amya.
“Ms. Reyes, I’m Lexie Goodwin, the robot assigned to take care of you. May I come in?” Lexie asked.

Amya replied, “Yes, come on in.”
Once Lexie got the permission, she pushed open the door and stepped inside. The moment she did, her eyes fell on Amya, sitting at the vanity.
Amya sat there, meticulously going through her skincare routine. She didn’t pay any attention to Lexie, fully absorbed in perfecting each step of her makeup routine.
Lexic, standing by the door, watched Amya’s refined routine and thought, ‘Honestly, I’m impressed by Ms. Reyes.
‘No wonder people say beauty takes effort. Seeing her skincare ritual really drives that point home. Just this entire skincare routine alone–if I made it halfway through, that would be impressive!
By the time Amya finished her full routine, she looked even more stunning. Without exchanging a word with Lexie, Amya stood up and walked toward her massive walk-in closet.
What followed left Lexie in disbelief. Amya pulled out gown after gown, trying each one on and then taking it off again. Amya repeated this for such a long time that Lexie felt like she might fall asleep just from watching.
After what felt like an eternity, Amya finally settled on a dress she liked. Only then did she stop.
Seeing her finally make a decision, Lexie breathed a quiet sigh of relief and thought, ‘Finally, Ms. Reyes stopped. Forget whether changing clothes is tiring for Ms. Reyes; just watching her is exhausting enough for
me!‘
Lexie thought she could finally speak to Amya now that Amya had picked out her outfit. But instead, Amya lay down in some unfamiliar machine and fell asleep.
Lexie thought, ‘Great. With Ms. Reyes like this, I probably won’t get a single word out of her all day, let alone get her to help me with my treatment‘
With Amya asleep, Lexie had no choice but to wander around the room, bored and restless.
