Arthur said, “Tell me, William, can you swear allegiance to Lex?

“If you can, kneel down now and take the oath to her. If you cannot, I will kill you right away.

“After all, Lex’s identity is top–secret. Besides me, not even your brother knows who Lex really is.”

“If it were not for what happened today, and my fear that no one could truly protect her every step of the way, I would never have revealed Lex’s true identity to you. William, the choice is yours to make,” Arthur added.

Upon hearing Arthur’s words, William looked intently at Lexie’s face. He hesitated for a moment before asking, “Dr. Cole, is it true that besides you, only I know Lex’s real identity now?”

“That’s right,” Arthur said.

William said, “Very well, then I am willing to swear.

“I am ready to dedicate everything I have to serve Lex faithfully forever, until the moment my life ends.

“If I ever dare to break this oath, may I, William, fall into the abyss and die, never to return to the embrace of the Sky God.

As he spoke, William dropped to one knee right in front of Lexie. His fingers transformed into sharp claws; he scratched his forehead until it bled, then let the blood drip onto the back of Lexie’s hand.
