Samuel could hear the doctors talking about just tossing him into a body bag. He could also catch Eric’s words to Lexie.

At that moment, the reality of his situation hit him harder than ever. He realized that, aside from himself, no one really cared if he lived or died.

Just when Samuel had given up all hope and accepted his fate, he never would have guessed that this little beastman, someone he’d never even met before, would risk everything to help him, care about his feelings, and protect his dignity.

Even at the very end, Lexie was willing to cry for him and ended up saving his life.

Such kindness and heartfelt sincerity made Samuel feel a deep sense of gratitude and left him truly shaken.

He realized that, in this unfamiliar world, he wasn’t alone after all.

Hill’s arrival was like a warm ray of light, lighting up the bleak world Samuel’d been trapped in.

Samuel took a deep breath, feeling the softness and warmth of the precious person in his arms. An unshakable determination welled up inside him.

He knew that from this moment on, no matter what came their way, he’d shield this gentle little beastman from all harm, and he wouldn’t let anything hurt Hill.

Hill, thank you. You saved me when I was at my lowest. I mean it. Thank you,” Samuel choked out.

His words trembled as he hugged Lexie so tightly, like he wanted to merge her into himself, desperate not to let go.

Lexie could barely catch her breath from Samuel’s fierce embrace, but she didn’t try to break free. She just quietly leaned into him, letting his warmth and strength wash over her.

She knew that right now, Samuel needed her more than ever.

She gently patted his back, not really sure what to say to comfort him. After all, he’d just come back from the brink. It was only natural for his emotions to be all over the place.

Seeing Samuel so emotional, Lexie froze for a second, then gently patted his back. Not really sure what to say, she awkwardly forced out a line.

Samuel, you broke my dorm door just now. Make sure you fix it for me later, okay?Lexie said.

Samuel didn’t say anything at first. But after a moment, a soft laugh rumbled from his chest as he kept holding her tight. Hill

Yeah, I’m here,” Lexie replied softly.

You really are one cute beastman,” Samuel said.

I know, but I’d rather you say I’m handsome,Lexie joked.

Honestly, with the fake face she had now, she really did look adorable.

When Lexie owned up to it without a hint of embarrassment, Samuel couldn’t help but grin even wider.

He gently loosened his hold on Lexie, stepped back, and bent down so their eyes met on the same level.

He said, Hill, from this moment on, you’re my best friend. Whenever you need me, I’ll show up for you, no matter what. I’ll stick by you, always.

And I’ll prove it with my actions, my friendship with you is as real as it gets.

Same here. So, from now on, we’re officially best friends, right?Lexie giggled, her eyes bright with excitement.

When Lexie reached out her hand, Samuel grabbed it tightly, his grip firm and full of resolve.

Absolutely. From now on, we’re best friends. So, my awesome friend, since I kinda wrecked your door, what kind do you want me to put in?Samuel teased.

Hmm, something cute, and definitely tough. At least strong enough that nobody can bust it down with one swipe,Lexie shot back, grinning.

You got it! I’ll fix it up for you right away,Samuel promised.

Just as Lexie and Samuel were sharing a smile, a smug, mocking voice rang out from the hallway. Oh, my dear brother. I never thought you’d just up and die like that!

Guess what? Now that you’re out of the picture, I get to be the heir. Seriously, your death is the best thing that’s happened to me.

Hearing that smug, nasty voice, Lexie shot Samuel a worried glance without even thinking.

Seeing the stormy look on Samuel’s face, she was clear he recognized who was out there.

Since the guy called Samuel brother, he had to be Samuel’s family. But even if they weren’t close, shouldn’t a brother at least not be this happy about his sibling almost dying?

Even if they both came out of Genesis Pods, with the same blood running through their veins, was there really zero family feeling between them?

While Lexie was still trying to figure things out, Samuel moved to shield her, instinctively guiding her over to William’s side, making it clear he wanted William to keep her safe.

William picked up on Samuel’s signal instantly. He casually shifted closer to Lexie, ready to jump in if anything happened.

The guy outside didn’t seem to notice anything was off inside the room. He just kept running his mouth, totally oblivious.

Don’t worry, Samuel. I’ll make sure to take good care of the family business and of course, yourpets,he

said.

The word pets made Lexie’s brows furrow slightly.

She didn’t know the ins and outs of Samuel’s family, but when she heard that guy mention pets, something about it just rubbed her the wrong way.

As soon as Samuel heard that voice, his gaze hardened, and his fists clenched, betraying the fury and resentment boiling inside him.

But he knew this wasn’t the time to act on impulse. He had to keep his cool. For the sake of everything at stake, he couldn’t afford to lose control.

Right then, the guy outside finally picked up on the weird vibe in the room. He shoved the door open and walked straight in.

When he walked in and saw Samuel standing smack in the middle of the living room, his smug grin froze on his face.

YYou’re not dead?the beastman stammered, his voice full of shock.

He gawked at Samuel, who looked totally fine, absolutely floored.

Nope, I’m still alive and kicking. You look pretty disappointed, Gary. What’s wrong? Are you didn’t use enough poison on me?Samuel sneered.

WWhat? Samuel, what are you talking about? When did I ever drug you?Gary stammered.

As soon as Samuel said that, the Gary’s face went pale with panic.

worried you

Samuel shot back, You didn’t drug me? If you didn’t slip me that gene regression drug, then how do you explain me suddenly beastifying and nearly dying for no reason?

If someone hadn’t saved me today, I’d be nothing but a corpse in a body bag right now.

Guess you got cocky a little too soon, Gary.
