As he spoke, Samuel’s vibe instantly turned fierce and intimidating. His eyes locked onto the beastman standing at the door.

In the next moment, he moved with lightning speed, grabbing Gary by the throat and lifting him off the ground.

HHow dare youhurt meGary gasped, struggling to breathe.

He clawed desperately at Samuel’s arm, trying to break free, but no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t move Samuel at all.

Samuel said, Why wouldn’t I dare? Gary, you never thought I’d wake up so soon, did you? Bet you expect someone to save me either.

Guess what? I’m still alive. Disappointed, aren’t you?

didn’t

Rage and disappointment flashed in Samuel’s eyes. He never thought his own brother would stab him in the back.

Samuel, please, just hear me out,Gary pleaded.

Samuel snapped, Enough! I don’t want to hear any more of your excuses. After what you’ve done, there’s nothing left to explain. You’re a traitor.

Back when you were just a nobody in the family, I was the one who brought you in and gave you everything you have now.

And this is how you repay me? Gary, how could you do this to me? I’m your brother. I’ve looked after you all these years, and you still had the heart to drug me and try to kill me?

With that, Samuel flung Gary across the room with a powerful motion.

Gary slammed into the ground, blood gushing from his mouth. His face twisted in fear and disbelief as he stared at Samuel, completely stunned by what just happened.

YYou dare do this to me? You’ll pay for this, I swear,Gary spat out.

He staggered to his feet, still shouting threats as he stumbled toward the door, desperate to escape,

Think you can run? Not a chance.” Samuel’s voice was icy and threatening.

In a flash, Samuel blocked Gary’s escape. A dagger had somehow appeared in his hand, its blade gleaming coldly under the light.

Don’t do this. We’re brothers,” Gary pleaded.

His face drained of all color as he stared at the dagger in Samuel’s grip, terror written all over his features.

Gary begged, Samuel, I was wrong. I’m sorry. I never should’ve tried to hurt you. I justI wanted to be the family heir, to live a life of power and privilege, to be someone important.

Please, just spare me this time. I swear, I’ll never dare to cross you again. Samuel, I’m begging you.”

Samuel had zero intention of showing Gary any mercy. Just like Eric said earlier, in a big family, if the heir was dead, someone else would step up, let alone just a regular member.

If Samuel let this backstabbing traitor go now, Gary would definitely stab him in the back again.

If Samuel wanted to end this once and for all, Gary had to die tonight.

Just as Samuel was about to snap Gary’s neck, William’s voice rang out from behind him.

William said, Hill, this is their family drama. It’s not really our place to watch this play out. Come on, head back to your room. I’ll help you clean up.

Okay,Lexie replied.

let’s

William made it pretty clear. He didn’t want Lexie to see any blood, and honestly, she wasn’t interested in watching it either.

Growing up, Lexie had seen a lot thanks to her dad, but gory family drama was never something she wanted to stick around for.

Once Samuel heard Hill had gone back to her room, he squeezed just a bit harder. There was a faint crack, and Gary collapsed to the floor, wheezing for breath. He stared at Samuel, his eyes full of terror.

Samuel said, Gary, I didn’t kill you. You’re my brother. I just can’t bring myself to go that far.

But from now on, whatever happens to you in this family, I’m out. Don’t expect me to help, and don’t even think I’ll get involved.

From now on, you’re on your own. You better watch your own back.”

With that, Samuel turned and walked away without looking back.

As Samuel walked away, Gary’s heart sank like a stone. After betraying Samuel today, Gary knew there was no way the big shots in the family would ever trust him again.

People in these big families were experts at kissing up to the strong and kicking the weak when they’re down. Just to get on Samuel’s good side, they’d go out of their way to ruin him.

Just thinking about it made despair twist Gary’s face. He knew he’d screwed up big time todayso bad there was no coming back from it.

But it was way too late for regrets now. Everything was way past saving, and he was powerless to change a thing.

What now? What the hell am I supposed to do?Gary muttered to himself.

But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t think of a single way out of this nightmare.

Back in the room, as soon as Lexie saw Samuel walk in, she hurried over, her eyes full of concern. Hey, are you okay?

Samuel replied, I’m good. Just took care of a traitor, no big deal. Already got someone coming to fix your door.

If you’re not busy, how about I treat you to dinner?

Wait, we’re not allowed to just go out whenever we want, right? Where can we eat then?Lexie asked.

Let’s just go to the cafeteria. The food’s actually pretty decent. Wanna join me, Hill?Samuel said.

Of course. But let’s bring William too. He’s my best friend,” Lexie said.

Samuel added, Alright, let’s bring him along. Let’s grab Eric too.

We’re roommates now, so we’ll be spending a lot of time together. Let’s have a good meal tonight just to get to know each other better.

With that, Samuel called out toward Eric’s room.

Eric, you’ve been hiding and spying on us for ages. We’re heading out. If you want to join, just come out,Samuel said.

As soon as Samuel finished, Eric came out of his room.

As soon as he stepped out, he gave Lexie a complicated, intense lookso direct it made her feel super awkward.

Without thinking, Lexie instinctively edged closer to Samuel, trying to dodge Eric’s stare.

Seeing her reaction, Eric blinked. His Adam’s apple bobbed. He looked like he wanted to say something, but the words just wouldn’t come out.

He’d been lurking behind the door, secretly watching the crazy scene that just went down.

Honestly, he’d only wanted to see Samuel bite the dust, and maybe even laugh at his downfall. But what he never saw coming was Samuel, who was supposed to be dead, suddenly coming back to life right there in Hill’s embrace.

Seriously, Eric never saw that coming.

When Lexie instinctively shrank away from his stare, Eric shifted his gaze, looking a bit uncomfortable. He turned around and said, his voice neutral. Let’s go.

With that, Eric turned and walked out. As he left, Lexie tugged at Samuel’s sleeve and whispered, Hey, do you

know Eric well?
