Chapter 72
Eric opened his mouth. “You…”

Someone with purple eyes said, “Forget what just happened. Just remember, the genetic test says Hill is nothing but a regular little beastman.
“Don’t mess with him, and don’t even think about getting close. Keeping your distance is the most important thing you should do, got it?”
“I… I see,” Eric said, his voice flat.
He stared blankly into those purple eyes, his face empty of emotion.
“Good. Give me her hair,” the guy with purple eyes commanded.
At the order, Eric moved stiffly as he pulled Lexie’s hair from his spatial button and handed it over.
Even though Eric felt a pang of reluctance in his heart, the moment his eyes met those mesmerizing purple ones, he found himself powerless to resist and handed the hair over anyway.
After taking the hair from Eric, the guy spoke in a commanding tone, “Good. That’s it. Take this and go back.”
Obeying the order, Eric put the exchanged hair back into his spatial button, then moved stiffly, like a puppet, step by step toward the school.
Once Eric was gone, the guy with purple eyes glanced at the hair in his palm, rolling it between his fingers before heading off down a side path toward the school.
When Eric jumped back into the dorm through the window, Lexie was still fast asleep. The fox curled up in her arms, found a cozy spot, and fell asleep.
As the purple fox drifted off to sleep, meanwhile, Eric stumbled back into his room, still in a daze. It was only when he saw the familiar dorm that he snapped out of it, staring blankly at his surroundings
Eric thought, his mind foggy, ‘Wait a second, wasn’t I just outside the school? How did I end up back here without even realizing it?‘
‘Didn’t I take Hill’s hair to get his DNA tested? What was the result? He’s really just a beastman
‘No, that’s not right. I’m pretty sure the result wasn’t supposed to be that.
‘But somehow, in my mind, the result is clear Hill is just a beastman.
Eric still had his doubts. He took Lexie’s hair out of his spatial button and looked it over in his hand.
The hair was stiff, almost like little steel wires. It was prickly and unpleasant to touch.
Staring at the hair, Eric refused to give up. He put it back into the gene detector and ran another test, just to
be sure.

The result was the same: Hill, the one he thought might be a female, really was just a beastman.
Eric thought, ‘Looks like I was just overthinking things.
‘Thanks to that damn Clyssia Virus, every last female is gone. How could there possibly be a female left, let alone one pretending to be a beastman right beside me?
‘Guess I really was just dreaming.‘
With a frustrated sigh, Eric tossed the hair onto the floor. But just as he was about to stash the gene detector back into his spatial button, he suddenly hesitated. For some reason, he bent down and picked the hair up again.
Honestly, he had no idea why he bothered.
His brain felt scrambled, and with his thoughts all over the place, he didn’t trust himself to make any choice right now.
Because acting on impulse like that would just be reckless.
Even though Hill turned out to be just a beastman and not a female, he and Eric still shared the same dorm
room.
Since Hill could cure beastman gene diseases, Eric figured it was smart to stay on his good side, in case he ever needed a favor.
Lexie had no idea what Eric was planning. Early the next morning, all she could feel was something squeezin her neck so tightly, like it was almost choking her.
Even worse, there was a heavy pressure on her chest, nearly suffocating her.
With some effort, Lexie managed to pry her eyes open, only to find her vision blocked by a mass of purple fluff.
Still dazed, she absently brushed the purple fur aside with her hand.
‘Oh, it’s a purple tail,‘ Lexie thought. ‘Wait, a tail?‘
Feeling the heavy weight pressing down on her chest, Lexie reached out and shoved the fox off to the side.
As she slowly sat up in bed, she finally got a good look at the fox.
The nine–tailed fox, which used to be no bigger than a kitten, had somehow grown overnight to the size of a small puppy.
‘Seriously, did my fox sneak out and eat fertilizer or something last night? How did it get so much bigger in just one night?‘ Lexie thought, totally baffled.
Still stunned, Lexie hugged the fox to her chest and gave it a thorough once–over, checking it out front every angle.

Lexie thought, ‘Yep, it’s definitely the same fox I rescued. But how the heck did it get so much bigger overnight?
‘Did it catch some freaky illness or something? Is that why it’s growing so fast?
Still puzzled, Lexie snapped a photo of the fox in her arms with her Optic Brain and posted it on the Interstellar Net, asking for help.
[My purple nine–tailed fox suddenly got a lot bigger overnight. Anyone know why? Any experts out there? Please help!]
After posting her question online, Lexie glanced at the fox, which was still fast asleep even after her petting She gently set it aside, tucked it in with the blanket, and then headed off to the bathroom.
When she came out after washing up, she saw the fox was still sound asleep. She gave its head a gentle pas before heading out.
“Hill, we gotta check in at the admin office today and grab our school uniforms while we’re at it.” William said
“Uniforms?” Lexie asked.
The moment Felix brought up uniforms, Lexie’s eyes
lit up like stars.
She just couldn’t resist it. The school’s uniforms were military–style, and the cut and style were totally her vibe.
When Arthur let her pick a school, half the reason she went with this one was those awesome uniforms.
Now that William mentioned they were getting our uniforms today, Lexie’s eyes practically sparkled with excitement.
She exclaimed, “Liam, come on. I was itching to get those uniforms yesterday already. You seriously have clue how cool these military–style uniforms look.
“They’re so good, even the biggest loser would look like a total stud in them. Let’s hurry up and be the first t grab ours.”
