The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 75

Chapter 75

Lexie set a plate of freshly cooked food in front of Serenus, then quickly took the seat across from him, flashing him a playful smile.

Seeing her like that, Serenus, who had been about to start eating, paused. He put down his fork and looked up at her, asking, looking confused, Hill, why are you staring at me like that? Is there something you want to ask me?

Wow, Mr. White, you’re really sharp. You really can read me,” Lexie said, her grin widening.

Hill, just tell me what you need. If it’s something I can help with, I’ve got your back, Serenus said, his tone serious.

Lexie scratched her cheek, feeling a bit awkward at how sincere he was.

She began, Well, it’s no big deal. It’s justyou know we’re starting boot camp tomorrow, right?

Could you be my instructor and, maybe, go a little easy on me?

I’m not exactly built for hardcore training. If I have to keep up with everyone else, I don’t think I’ll make it.

Serenus, who had been sitting up straight, couldn’t help but let out an amused smirk at her request. That’s it? Nothing else?he teased.

Yep, that’s it. Is that okay?Lexie replied, looking at hi

expectantly.

Of course, no problem at all. Hill, you can count on me. Tomorrow I’ll be your instructor, just like I won’t push you too hard,Serenus said warmly.

After all, getting assigned as her instructor was the whole reason he was here.

you

Hearing his promise, Lexie finally felt her heartbeat settle. She could breathe again.

asked, and I promise

This is honestly the best thing ever, she thought, relief washing over her.

With

any other instructor, there was no way she’d last even three days, let alone three months.

Now that the weight was off her shoulders, her appetite returned in full force. She pulled out a bunch of highgrade nutrient fluid vials and, in just a few moments, downed more than a dozen of them. Serenus and Samuel, sitting nearby, were both left completely stunned.

This is highgrade nutrient fluid! Normally, one vial is enough for a beastman. How can someone as petite as Hill drink over a dozen at once and not even look full?Serenus and Samuel both wondered, totally baffled.

But that wasn’t even the craziest part. What happened next left them even more shocked.

Lexie polished off a heaping plate of food all by herself, finishing it in no time at all.

His appetite is just unbelievable, they both thought, staring at her in disbelief.

Samuel, who had no clue about Lexie’s real identity, just couldn’t hold back his curiosity anymore. Her insane appetite was blowing his mind.

Hill, are you seriously a beastman from the merfolk clan?Samuel blurted out.

Yeah, I am. Why?Lexie replied, looking genuinely puzzled.

Seeing her confused look, Samuel couldn’t help but ask again, still in disbelief, Wait, do all merfolk beastmen eat as much

as you do?

Well, I can’t speak for the rest of my kind, but my own appetite definitely grew after I came here,Lexie said, scratching her cheek.

Back before she ended up in this world, she ate like anyone else. But ever since she crossed over, it was like her stomach turned into a black hole. No matter how much she ate, she was never full, and she couldn’t gain weight.

Since regular food just didn’t cut it, she always had to start with a dozen or so vials of highgrade nutrient fluid just to take the edge off before she could actually eat a meal.

Arthur had even run all sorts of tests on her because of her crazy appetite, but every result came back totally normal.

So as long as it wasn’t hurting her, he just let her cat as much as she wantedno complaints, no questions.

But with Serenus and Samuel both staring at her in shock, Lexie started to feel seriously selfconscious.

Here, Hill, drink this premium nutrient fluid Dr. Cole specially prepared for you. You really haven’t eaten enough today. It’s not healthy,William said, handing her the vial.

Lexie took the vial, feeling Serenusand Samuel’s wideeyed stares bore into her.

At that moment, she truly felt like a walking black hole.

She finally made it through the rest of the meal under their stunned gaze, only to walk out of the cafeteria, and straight into an even more awkward scene.

There was Harry, standing shirtless right outside, flexing his muscles directly at her. She was dumbfounded.

Seriously, what the hell is this?she thought, totally baffled.

Why is this bear beastman showing off his muscles to me out of nowhere?she wondered, even more confused.

His whole upper body was bare, muscles bulging everywhere. She honestly didn’t see the appeal.

It doesn’t just look excessive. It’s downright unsettling, she thought, feeling a chill run down her spine.

Lexie was frozen in place, completely stunned, when a sudden gust of wind whipped past her.

The next moment, Serenus booted Harry, the bear beastman who’d been showing off his muscles, clear across the hallway.

As a cadet, running around halfnaked, causing a commotion, and ignoring the rules. Have some discipline!Serenus snapped, his voice ringing with authority.

His eyes were sharp as knives. Harry immediately straightened up, no longer daring to show off.

With Serenusicy tone ringing in his ears, Harry hung his head, too scared to look up. His voice had a slight tremor as he spoke, II’m sorry. I was just trying to mess around with Hill. I swear, that’s all.

Serenus snorted coldly. Messing around? You think running around shirtless and showing off your muscles at a military academy is messing around? All you’re doing is proving you have zero respect for order here.

If I ever catch you shirtless in front of Hill again, pack your things and get lost. Don’t wait for me to kick you out.

As an instructor, I never keep students who refuse to follow the rules.”

Sir, I won’t ever do it again,Harry stammered, his voice shaking.

With Serenusicy glare fixed on him, Harry was so freaked out that he could barely string a sentence together.

Well, then get out of here, now!Serenus snapped, his tone cutting.

I’m leaving right now,Harry blurted, scrambling away in a panic.

Watching him scramble away in a panic, Lexie turned and felt the intimidating vibe coming off Serenus. Instinctively, she tried to hide behind William.

Oh my god! I never thought Mr. White could be this terrifying, she thought, her heart skipping a beat.

When Serenus turned around and caught the shock in her eyes, it hit him. He’d really gone overboard just now.

He realized his outburst had genuinely startled her.

After all, she was just a delicate little female.

Just as Serenus was about to say something, Lexie grabbed William’s hand and blurted out, her voice full of urgency, Uh, see you tomorrow, Mr. White. We gotta go try on our uniforms now.

Alright, see you tomorrow,Serenus replied, his tone softening a bit.
