Chapter 78
Kaelen looked at the realistic mask on Lexie’s face and frowned slightly. He didn’t like it. The mask disappeared instantly, revealing her true face.
He studied her features carefully, and the more he looked, the more satisfied he felt.
“Not bad at all, he thought. ‘I really know how to pick a mate. She’s beautiful.
But he could make her even more beautiful.
After all, he was incredibly handsome himself, so it wouldn’t make sense for his mate to look ordinary.
Mermaids were famous throughout the galaxy for their beauty, and he was the Merman King. Of course, he had ways to make his mate even more stunning.
Something occurred to him, and Kaelen slowly leaned down. He brought his lips close to hers and kissed her gently.
The moment their lips met, the mermaid totem that had been resting quietly on Lexie’s chest suddenly came alive. It moved up along her neck and traveled across her face.
Wherever the totem passed, it carried some kind of magic. Lexie’s face had been pretty before, but now it transformed into something ethereal and breathtaking.
When Kaelen’s lips left hers, the glowing marks that had been moving across Lexie’s face faded back to their original place on her chest.
And somehow, her face had become even more beautiful.
Lexie’s skin now looked clearer, almost luminous. Her lips were soft and pink, like rose petals.
The subtle changes transformed her features from simply pretty to strikingly delicate.
Kaelen stared at her face with apparent hunger in his eyes. He reached out and traced her lips with his finger, and his multicolored eyes burned with determination. ‘She has to be mine,‘ he thought.
He wanted to take Lexie back to the ocean with him right now, but he knew she was a land creature.
If he dragged her underwater without preparing her first, she wouldn’t survive.
So he had to wait until he figured out a solution.
But he wasn’t worried. Once he finished building that paradise in the middle of the ocean, he’d bring his mate home. He was sure of it.
For now, though, he’d collect a little interest on what she owed him.
Kaelen was the Merman King, and taking what he wanted was in his nature.

Chapter 78
He loved Lexic, and he’d give her everything his status, his power, even his life
But his love came with obsession. He wasn’t stupid enough to think that loving her meant letting her he happy with someone else. That was ridiculous.
The happiness he wanted had to be something they created together.
Kaclen leaned closer and said in a low voice, “Lex, give yourself to me, and I’ll give you half of my lifespan. We’ll live together and die together. Deal?“Silence.
Lexie just kept sleeping peacefully.
“If you don’t say anything, I’m gonna take that as a yes,” Kaclen murmured. “Okay?”
Kaelen reached out and gently traced Lexie’s sleeping face, and he knew what he was doing was a little underhanded.
But he also knew he wasn’t exactly a good person, not after he’d bound himself to Lexie as her mate without her permission in the first place.
They were mates now, so it wouldn’t hurt to take their relationship a step further.
With that thought, Kaelen waved his hand, and a massive shell materialized in the empty room.
He gathered the sleeping Lexie into his arms and carried her inside.
Lexie drifted in that space between sleep and waking, and she found herself submerged in the ocean.
A breathtakingly beautiful face appeared before her–one she recognized. It was Kaelen, the Merman King, who had bound himself to her as her mate.
She stared at that stunning face, and her gaze drifted down without thinking, landing on his lean, powerful
waist.
“Kaelen’s got a pretty powerful waist,‘ she thought hazily.
Her mind felt foggy and distant, but the sight in front of her was too tempting to resist. Completely forgetting any sense of restraint, Lexie reached out and let her hand explore his waist. “Well damn, babe, you’ve got quite the slim waist going on here!”
“You think so? Do you like it, Lex?” Kaelen’s face drew closer, dreamlike and impossibly beautiful.
Lexie stared at that gorgeous face and felt her thoughts scatter completely. All she could think was that this man was hot as hell, and she wanted him.
Besides, she could breathe underwater right now, which meant she had to be dreaming. If she were lucky enough to dream up a man this beautiful, she’d be an idiot not to make a move. She wasn’t about to waste this perfect dream.
Lexie’s hands moved to Kaelen’s waist and pulled him closer. In the next moment, Kaelen melted against her like he had no bones left in his body, and he let her do whatever she wanted.

Chapter 28
She looked down at Kaelen resting so obediently in her arms, and her hands kept exploring his body. She couldn’t help but ask, “Wait, I’m literally all over you right now, and you’re not even gonna fight back a little
“No way! I’m yours now, Lex. You can do whatever you want to me. I like it,” Kaelen said.
His words hit her hard, and the shy look on his face made it worse. Lexie’s brain short–circuited right then and there.
She stared at the temptation in her arms and swallowed hard. Her voice came out uncertain. “Look, if i actually make a move here, you can’t back out later, okay?”
“I won’t back out.” Kaelen leaned in close to her car, and his voice dropped to something soft and intimate. “But Lex, what exactly do you want to do to me? I’m really looking forward to it.”
His voice was so gentle it practically melted in the air. The way he drew out the end of each word felt like tiny hooks pulling at something inside her, and his tone lilted up just slightly at the end.
His warm breath brushed against her ear when he spoke, and that sensation alone turned Lexie’s mind to complete mush.
