So with Kaelen deliberately tempting her with his gorgeous body, Lexie figured since this was just a dream anyway, she might as well be the queen of her own fantasy.
With that thought, Lexie stopped holding back. She hooked her arms around Kaelen’s neck and flipped him over, pinning him beneath her as her hands started exploring his body.
Watching Lexie lean over him, Kaelen’s eyes flashed with triumph, but the look disappeared as quickly as it
Game.
He wrapped his arms gently around Lexie’s waist, and a satisfied smirk tugged at his lips. But when he spoke, his voice took on a rare, pitiful tone.
“Lex, you’re the one making the first move here. If you have your way with me, you’d better take responsibility.
“You need to know that we mermaids are incredibly loyal. If you abandon me after this, I definitely won’t survive it.”
Lexie smiled, “Don’t worry, honey. I will take responsibility for you. Come visit my dreams every night from now on, and I’ll take real good care of you.”
Seduced by Kaelen’s beauty and completely losing her sense of reason, Lexie would agree to anything at this point.
“It’s just a dream,‘ she thought. ‘When I wake up, none of this matters. No consequences, no responsibility, nothing.’
So she decided to just enjoy herself while it lasted.
The night deepened around them. Moonlight rippled across the water’s surface, casting shimmering patterns that danced over their intertwined bodies beneath the sea. The glow wrapped them in something beautiful and hazy.
Time slipped by. The moon climbed higher in the sky, and soft sounds drifted up from below the waves- breathless and intimate. Everything felt romantic and perfect, like something out of a fantasy.

The next morning, Lexie jolted awake and sat up in bed. She stared blankly at the wall for a long moment before frantically checking herself over.
Her clothes were still on, and nothing felt different about her body. She was home in her own bed, so that meant last night had just been a dream–a very vivid, very inappropriate dream.
“Why the hell did I dream about that?‘ she thought, pressing her hands to her burning cheeks. ‘And why did it have to be about Kaelen? I’ve only met the guy once. Is this because of that stupid mate bond we made?‘
That had to be it. The bond was messing with her subconscious, making her dream about him all night long in ways that made her want to bury herself under the covers and never come out.

Chapter 79
“When did I become such a pervert?‘ she wondered, mortified. ‘Or is Kaelen just that ridiculously hot?
Lexie thought back to last night’s dream, and her face flushed hot with embarrassment.
She was usually pretty reserved, but Kaelen had looked so damn good in that dream.
It was just a normal thing that happened to women everywhere, she told herself. It was only a dream, and dreams didn’t mean anything.
She hugged her blanket and tried to convince herself that everything was fine when William’s voice came from outside her door.
He asked, “Lex, why’s your little fox out here?”
“My fox?” She glanced down at the fox bed on the floor. Empty. Her little fox was gone.
Lexie frowned and thought, ‘What’s going on? I fed the little fox last night and put him back in his nest. The door and windows are both closed, so how did he get out?‘
Whatever. She could figure that out later. Right now, she just needed to get the fox back inside.
She climbed out of bed and headed for the door. The moment she pulled it open, she found William, Samuel, and Eric standing right there in front of her.
The three men in the living room all turned to look at her at once.
Their eyes met, and William, Samuel, and Eric froze completely.
They just stared at her face, and for a moment, none of them seemed to know what to do.
Lexie didn’t notice anything strange about their reactions at all.
Her whole attention was fixed on the little fox cradled in William’s arms.
She couldn’t explain it, but somehow after just one night, her baby fox looked like he’d grown bigger.
Lexie was still holding her little fox and sizing up the situation when William finally snapped out of his shock. “Lex, your face?”
“Huh? What about my face?” Lexie met William’s frantic, stunned gaze and touched her cheek, her expression one of confusion.
William didn’t bother answering. He just pushed her back into the room and slammed the door shut.
His extreme reaction made Lexie’s stomach drop. Something was wrong. She rushed to the bedroom mirror.
The reflection staring back at her showed her real face–the one without the realistic mask. That part didn’t surprise her. What surprised her was how different she looked after wearing that mask for just a little while.
Her skin glowed with a dewy radiance, and her eyes sparkled with new life. Her figure had become more alluring, and she looked like a flower on the verge of blooming–captivating and irresistible.

Chapter 79
“What the hell is going on?‘ she thought. I definitely didn’t look like this yesterday. Is it because I spent all night having those dreams about the Merman King, and now iny hormones are out of control?
The thought made her feel worse about everything.
And what made it even more terrible was that Samuel and William had both seen her face just now.
Her face was naturally seductive, and even an idiot could tell she wasn’t a young beastman just by looking at
her.
And then William had shouted her real name in his shock. ‘So my cover’s blown on the first day of school? Lexic thought. ‘Great. Just great.
She heard voices outside her door.
Eric said, “Wait, is Hill’s real name Lex? And that face we just saw–that’s her real face, right? She looks like an artificial female bot. I mean, look at how pretty she is. There’s no way she’s a beastman.”
Samuel stared at Lexie’s closed door, his shock giving way to realization. “Lexie? Why does that name sound so familiar?”
Samuel’s eyes widened. “A few weeks ago, Prince Nelson put out a secret warrant. He’s been looking for an artificial female bot named Lexie. The bot in that warrant looks exactly like Hill, and the names match, so that
means-”
He trailed off, but they all understood.
Their roommate, Lexie, was an artificial female bot.
“She’s not a beastman at all,” Eric muttered. “No wonder her healing abilities were so strong–way stronger than any Mermaid beastman could manage. And her aura always felt so calming, and she never acted as rough as beastmen do. Of course. It all makes sense now.”
