The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Eric’s muttered words made William’s heart jump, and he lunged forward without thinking. His hand shot out toward the back of Eric’s neck in a swift chopping motion.

He’d promised Arthur he would protect Lexie and keep her true identity hidden no matter what.

If her identity were to get out, Nelson would track her down in no time. And once Nelson had Lexie, he’d definitely use her to threaten Austin.

Right now, Nelson was using some secret method to keep Amya’s android alive, and he was just waiting to find Austin’s weakness so he could exploit it.

So, whether it was for personal reasons or for the bigger picture, William couldn’t let Lexie’s identity slip. Eric saw the attack coming and quickly stepped back, blocking William’s strike with precision. William, what the hell’s wrong with you?Eric snapped. Why are you attacking me out of nowhere?

William didn’t answer. He just kept coming at Eric with more attacks.

Eric dodged and weaved, his movements sharp and practiced. Are you insane?he shouted. What’s your problem? So I figured out that artificial female bot’s real identitywhat’s the big deal?

William’s eyes flickered with conflict as Eric blocked his path, but determination quickly took over.

Eric, I made a promise to Dr. Cole,William said, his voice low and steady. I swore I’d keep Lex safe and hide her true identity no matter what. Now that you know who she really is, the safest thing for her is if you can’t talk.

Eric’s heart jumped. He thought, Just because I know her real identity? With the way William’s attacking me, is he actually trying to kill me?

William, you’re insane!Eric shouted. So what if I know that artificial female bot’s real identity? I’m not the type to run my mouth. Why would I go around telling everyone who she is? You’re way overreacting here!

I’m not overreacting at all,” William said coldly. Dead men tell no tales. Once you’re gone, Lex’s identity will be completely safe.

Murder filled William’s eyes as he stared at Eric.

Eric blocked William’s attacks with everything he had at his disposal. Still, he couldn’t help glancing desperately at Samuel standing off to the side.

Why are you only going after me and not Samuel?he demanded. He saw that artificial female bot’s face too. He knows her real identity just like I do. So why are you attacking me and leaving him alone?

Anyone who knows Lex’s true identity won’t be spared,William said, his voice icecold.

He shot Samuel a lethal glare, his eyes promising death.

Chapter 80

Just as William prepared to strike Eric again, Lexie pushed the door open and stepped outside.

Liam, what are you doing?Lexie asked, staring at William’s clawed hand in confusion.

Lex, these two know your identity,William said flatly. I need to kill them before they talk.

William’s words hit Lexie like a physical blow, and she froze. Wait, did I just hear that right? Liam wants to kill them to keep them quiet?she thought.

Liam, hold on. Aren’t you being a little impulsive here?she said. You can’t just kill people to silence them.

Exactly!Eric jumped in. Hillno wait, I should call you Lex now, shouldn’t I? You’re just an artificial female bot. You’re nothing but a lab experiment they grew in some petri dish. William, you want to kill us over some worthless test subject? Are you out of your mind?

Lexie’s eyes rolled so hard they nearly got stuck. Honestly, she was tempted to let go of William and let him rip Eric apart with one swipe of his claws.

Worthless? Are you kidding me right now?she thought bitterly. Never mind that I’m actually a real female— even if I were an artificial female bot, I’d still be a living being! But this asshole just said my life has no value. Unbelievable. Eric’s such a piece of garbage.

But as angry as she was, she couldn’t let anyone die. Liam, just calm down for a second, she said. “We can work this out. Samuel and Eric can promise not to expose us, right? That solves the problem.

No, Lex. Dead men tell no tales,William said coldly. They can only keep your secret if they’re not breathing.

Lexie was about to argue again when Samuel spoke up, William, I won’t tell anyone that Lex is an artificial female bot.”

He continued, She saved my life, and I haven’t even repaid that debt yet. How could I betray her like some backstabbing coward?

Besides, exposing Lex’s identity doesn’t benefit me at all, so I’d never do it. Please, just take a breath and let’s talk this through. There has to be a way we can resolve this peacefully.”

Eric said, Exactly! William, I’ve got no beef with you, and Lex is my roommate. That makes her my friend.

Even if she’s an artificial female bot, her identity has nothing to do with me. Why would I go around telling people about it? So come on, William. Just calm down for a second, and we can figure out how to handle this together.

Samuel and Eric’s words seemed to get through to him, and Lexie kept blocking his path, stopping him from doing something he’d regret.

William hesitated. His hand slowly dropped to his side, but his eyes stayed cold as ice when he looked at Samuel and Eric.

William said, Fine. I’ve got a foolproof way to deal with this, but I need your cooperation to make it work.”

Samuel and Eric exchanged a quick glance before they both spoke up, Alright, William. What’s your solution?

Yeah, just tell us. If it’s reasonable, we’ll go along with it.

William stared them down, and his voice turned colder. It’s simple. I’ll install oath bombs in both of you. You’ll swear you’ll never reveal Lex’s real identity.

Once you make that oath, if either of you breaks it and exposes her secret, the bomb will detonate instantly and kill you. So what do you say? Are you willing to take the oath bomb or not?
