Christiar sat up slowly and looked at Lexie, who was sleeping on the bed. When he saw her peaceful face, something seemed to cross his mind, and he leaned down to kiss her lips.

The moment their lips met, a purple bead slipped smoothly into Lexie’s stomach.

As the purple bead settled inside her body, a foxlike mark appeared on Lexie’s chest.

Lex, that stupid merman put his pearl inside you and forced a mate bond on you,Christiar whispered. So now I’m putting my fox bead in your body too. It’ll push back against his pearl and protect you.”

He paused and traced a finger along her cheek. There’s just one side effectwe’ll have a mate bond now too. We’ll be mates.”

Lex, I don’t care that you’re not pretty,he continued softly. If you want to be beautiful, I can help you. We ninetailed Vulpes are the most gorgeous species in the Aetherion Interstellar Zone. That fish is nothing.

His voice dropped lower, taking on an edge. I’m injured right now, so I can’t beat him. But you waitonce I’m healed, I’ll turn Kaelen into fish jerky and make you soup from his skin and bones.

Christiar’s fingers tightened slightly on her shoulder. Lex, don’t fall for that merman, okay? When you wake remember one thingthe only person you love is me. Christiar||

up, just

He leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. Lex loves Christiar. Lex only loves Christiar. You understand that, right? Lex.

Christiar rubbed his temples as he watched Lexie sleep, exhaustion weighing on him like a physical burden.

His body hadn’t recovered yet, and he’d just used his illusion powers to alter Eric and William’s memories without permission.

On top of that, he’d forced the mate bond between them using his fox pearl, and now his body was completely drained.

He was exhausted.

Lex, I need to rest now,he whispered, his voice barely audible. You’re covered in my scent, and I’ve already disguised your face. Even if you go outside, no one will notice anything different about you.

He paused, gathering what little strength he had left. I have to sleep, Lex. But once my body recovers, I’ll take you back to my family and make you my official mate.

When that day comes, I’ll give you the most spectacular wedding ceremony. I’ll make sure everyone knows that you, Lexie, are my one and only mate, and you’ll spend the rest of your life with me.

Christiar’s hand trembled as he reached out to touch her cheek. You have my fox pearl inside you now, Lex. If you’re ever in danger, I’ll sense it immediately, and I’ll come to protect you no matter what.

His words came faster now, desperate. Just wait for me, Lex. Give me a chance to recover my strength.

You’re marked with my scent now, so even if someone suspects your identity later, they won’t dare think you’re a female once they smell me on you. You don’t have to be afraid of anyone discovering your true identity anymore.”

He let out a bitter laugh. Though honestly, you only have to hide because of me. If my body were at full strength, you wouldn’t need to fear some Crown Prince.

My family is more powerful than the entire Aetherion Federation. Once I recover, even Nelson will have to bow down and

call me his ancestor.

Christiar’s

eyes grew heavy, but he tonight to stay conscious a thement longer. Really, Lex, Fin not lying to you. You’re my only mate, and I would never deceive the person I love. Trust me Just wait for me?

Christiar looked at Lexie, lying in bed, and studied her sweet fac. After securing the mask properly on her face, he reluctantly climbed down from the bed and shifted back into his small fox form.

He was exhausted.

The moment Christiar transformed back into a fox, Lexie’s eyes snapped open. She sat up abruptly, staring blankly ahead as she tried to collect her thoughts.

After a long moment, she reached up and touched her face. Something felt off. She scrambled out of bed and rushed to the mirror, her heart pounding.

Relief flooded through her when she saw Hill’s face staring back at her in the reflection.

What was that dream?she thought, pressing her fingertips against her checks.

In the nightmare, her mask had slipped off, and Samuel and Eric had seen her real face. They’d figured out who she really was. And William had actually considered killing them to protect her identity.

She’d woken up in a panic right before it happened.

Lexie pinched her cheek, reassuring herself that the prosthetic mask was still in place and her secret was safe. But doubt gnawed at her. She needed to be sure.

She smoothed down her clothes and crept to the door, opening it just a crack.

When Lexie slowly pushed the door open and stepped out, her gaze immediately locked with William, Samuel, and Eric standing in the living room.

When Lexie saw the confusion in all three of their eyes, she froze in place.

Samuel and Eric, both looking equally confused, turned around at the same time and stared at Lexie standing off to the side.

The moment their eyes met, Lexie clearly saw confusion, shock, and disbelief written all over Samuel and Eric’s faces.

Eric seemed especially incredulous, and he quickly strode forward several steps until he reached Lexie’s side.

But the moment he got close to her, a sharp and dominating aura hit him like a wave.

That commanding presence felt like an icy blade, and Eric’s footsteps involuntarily faltered.

He lifted his head and studied Lexie’s face carefully. Something about her has changed, he thought.

But when he looked closer, he couldn’t pinpoint what was different.

After examining her thoroughly, Eric could confirm one thingLexie was definitely a beastman..

Whatever I saw in my head when I woke up in the living room must have been a hallucination,he thought.

Lexie’s aura was too sharp and powerful. There was no way she could be an artificial female botthat was absolutely impossible.

Just as Eric’s furrowed brow began to relax, Samuel stood behind him, staring together.

at Lexie with his eyebrows knitted tightly

They’d only been apart for one night. And Lexie’s aura turned so sharp and chaotic

now.
