The Last True Female (Lexie) (by Sylvia Vance) novel Chapter 89

Seeing that she just couldn’t reason with the little ninetailed fox, Lexie had no choice but to split him up. from Tumblebeast.

Lexie made a little nest for Tumblebeast at the foot of the bed, and another for the fox at the head. Finally. peace was restored.

That night, as Lexie drifted back to sleep, the shell that Merman King Kaelen had given her started making a faint noise again.

Seeing the shell act up, Cristia, the ninetailed fox, knew that Kaelen, that flirty merman, was about to show up in Lexie’s room again.

But his body still hadn’t fully recovered. He was no match for Kaelen right now.

When Kaelen showed up, there was no way he could take him on.

Just as Cristia was debating whether to toss out the shell Kaelen had given Lexie, Tumblebeast shuffled over from its nest at the foot of the bed and approached the shell.

It sniffed the shell with its nose, and then, to Cristia’s utter shock, it turned around. Just as the shell opened wide, a long, muffled fart rumbled straight into it.

The next second, the shell snapped shut in an instant.

Seeing this, Cristia was so stunned he flopped down on the floor, laughing so hard he nearly passed out.

Just moments ago, he’d always thought Tumblebeast was a clueless oaf and couldn’t stand having it around. But he never would’ve guessed that this supposedly dumb beast could actually be pretty clever sometimes.

How did it even come up with the idea to fart into Kaelen’s shell?Cristia thought, still in disbelief. I wonder how Kaelen’s doing now. Did Tumblebeast’s stunt gross him out so much he coughed up blood?

Just picturing what had happened, Cristia laughed so hard he nearly passed out.

Just as Cristia was secretly cracking up, he glanced upand Tumblebeast was suddenly right up in his face.

Seeing it standing there, and remembering that outrageous stunt it just pulled, Cristia instinctively jumped to his feet and bolted away from it like his tail was on fire.

If this airheaded Tumblebeast tried that on me, I’d probably fume myself into a coma!Cristia thought.

Seeing Cristia react like that, Tumblebeast quietly took a step back, then curled up in its nest at the foot of the bed to sleep.

Once the beast left, Cristia finally breathed a long sigh of relief.

Thank goodness that beast didn’t pull that stunt on me,he thought.

But as for Kaelen, things probably weren’t looking so good for him

Meanwhile, Kaelen, who had been planning to use his soul shell to visit Lexie, was hunched over, puking his guts out after what just happened.

He kept throwing up until there was nothing left but acid in his stomach, then shot a venomous glare at the opening of the shell.

That stunt was definitely pulled by that pesky fox, Cristia,Kaelen fumed. There’s no one else around Lexie anyway.

Right now, Kaelen just wanted to storm out of the shell, barge into Lexie’s room, grab that damned fox by the scruff, and beat the crap out of him.

Then, while he was still weak, finish him off for good.

But as Kaelen approached the shell, the memory of that nasty fart totally traumatized himhe was left scarred for life.

That damn fox Cristia is just way too dirty.

What if I go in and that fox farts again? I’d be disgusted to death!he thought.

After hesitating for what felt like forever, Kaelen just couldn’t muster up the guts to go back in and see Lexie.

Whatever, it’s fine. I’ll just wait it out.

In a few days, once this whole thing stops haunting me, I’ll go see Lexie again,he told himself.

He’d spent the night with Lexie yesterday, and now he couldn’t help but wonder if his seed had taken root in herif she was already carrying his child.

Thinking of Lexie, Kaelen tugged open his collar. Right there on his chest, the merman totem appeared, clear and unmistakable.

As the Merman King, he could only ever choose one mate for his entire life.

Once he formed a mate bond with a female, at the very moment the contract was sealed, not only would he share half his life with her-

He’d even have to shoulder some of her pain, taking it on himself.

That was the duty of every male merman, and honestly, it was something Kaelen truly wanted to do for his beloved.

Lexie had no clue about what went down that night. The next morning, she got up, brought Tumblebeast along, and hurried off to freshman boot camp.

Today’s freshman boot camp wasn’t about lugging tires anymoretoday, it was all about rock climbing.

Standing at the base of the mountain, Lexie looked up at the cliff that was practically a ninetydegree wall.

Her knees were shaking so bad she could barely stand.

This thing was insanely high and steep. Climbing it with her bare hands? No way. Even if someone dangled a rope and tried to haul her up, she’d still chicken out.

Lexie was totally freaked out, but everyone else acted like that crazyhigh cliff was no big deal.

While Coach Serenus was pulling Lexie onto the aerial craft, tons of students were already climbing up cliff with just their bare hands.

After all, if anyone lost, he’d have to face a punishment.

Following Coach Serenus up to the mountaintop, Lexie wobbled over to the edge and glanced down.

Just one look and her knees nearly buckledshe was so freaked out she could barely stand.

This is way too scary.

If I fell from here, I’d be a goner, she thought.

But seeing the coaches posted all around the cliff, plus the aerial crafts trailing right behind the students, ready to jump in at any second, Lexie realized she was probably just overthinking it.

After all, if she could think of it, there was no way the instructors hadn’t already thought of it too.

Since the other students were still inching their way up the cliff, Lexie had nothing better to do, so she took Tumblebeast and wandered off to mess around somewhere.

There was a dense forest up on top of the cliff. Since all the students were training here, Lexie figured the woods had to be safe.

Plus, she had her defensive shield on. If anything sketchy happened, she could just make a quick getaway with

Tumblebeast.

Lexie thought about checking in with Serenus, but he looked swamped. Since she was only going to wander nearby, she just told a familiar instructor where she’d be, then headed into the woods with Tumblebeast.

There were branches jutting out all over the place in the forest, so Lexie didn’t want the beast to go too fast.

The two of them just wandered deeper into the woods at a slow, easy pace, like they were out for a casual stroll.

After making their way through the dense woods, Lexie and the beast finally emergedand right before their eyes was a vivid emeraldgreen lake.

The lake was enormous, encircled by trees on every side. Bathed in sunlight, it resembled a giant emerald

embedded in the earth.

The surface sparkled brilliantly, as if countless jewels were leaping and dancing across the water.

The sight of that sparkling emerald lake instantly lifted Lexie’s spirits. She gave the beast a friendly pat and
