Hearing Lexie say that, Tumblebeast spun around in front of her, but Lexie still couldn’t figure out where its feet were.

It doesn’t even have feet, so how is it so fast?

Just as Lexie was still puzzling over it, the beast suddenly shot forward like a cannonballwith a loud bang, it crashed right into the lake.

Holy crap! Fluffy, aren’t you afraid you’ll drown jumping into the lake like that? Get your butt back here, now!Lexie yelled.

Watching the beast floating on the water, Lexie was frantic to pull it out. But it was way too far from the shore, and she was scared of water, so she didn’t dare get any closer. All she could do was stand on the bank and shout at it.

But no matter how much Lexie yelled, the beast just wouldn’t come back. It just kept floating there, looking totally unbothered.

Seeing it acting so shameless, Lexie was so mad she grabbed a small stone and chucked it at it.

But she missed.

When the stone splashed into the water, the beast didn’t even budge. Instead, a massive fish exploded out of the lake.

Waitscratch that. It wasn’t a fish at all, but a snake with actual claws.

Lexie freaked out and stumbled backward the moment she saw that giant snake rise from the water.

Snakes were her absolute nightmarejust seeing one made her legs turn to jelly.

She was so terrified, she barely managed a couple steps before her legs totally gave out and she just dropped to the ground.

Holy crap, help-

Before she could even finish shouting for help, the terrifying snake suddenly morphed into a beastman with a human upper body and a snake’s tail.

He had claws growing just below his waist, making him look downright terrifying at a glance.

Seeing this, Lexie couldn’t care less about whether this beastman was handsome or notshe just wanted to run for her life.

Wait a second, how could there be a partially beastified beastman inside the school’s training grounds?Lexie thought, her mind reeling.

Most importantly, this beastmanonly partially beastifiedlooked absolutely terrifying.

Just as Lexie tried to run, before she could even get up, the beastman grabbed her ankle, locking her in place.

His hand was icecold, covered in a layer of fine, packed scales.

Lexie recoiled in disgust at the cold, scaly grip around her ankle.

Let go of me!

Lexie struggled desperately, using every ounce of strength to wrench her foot out of the beastman’s icy grip.

But the beastman was unbelievably strongno matter how hard she fought, her ankle remained firmly trapped in his grasp.

What do you want from me? Let go! If you don’t, II’ll call for help!

Her voice had a hint of crying. She’d never faced anything like this before, and right now, she was scared out of her mind.

The beastman didn’t respond. He just stared at Lexie, his gaze holding a mix of curiosity and playful interest.

His stare was raw and unfiltered, making Lexie’s skin crawl. She had no clue what this beastman wantedshe just wanted to bolt and get as far away as possible.

Too bad, there was no way out for her.

Are youHill Cullen, the merfolk beastman?

Yeah, you know me?

Lexie kept trying to yank her foot back, glancing over to see Tumblebeast floating on the watersuddenly, it shot toward the beastman’s tail like a cannonball.

If that beast can knock this guy out, I’m making a run for it,Lexie thought, her heart racing.

Too bad, that was just wishful thinking.

Just as the beast blasted toward the beastman’s tail, it was like the guy had eyes in the back of his head or something.

He didn’t even bother to turn aroundjust flicked his tail and launched the beast clear across the lake, sending up a huge splash.

Fluffy! You bastard, if you killed it, I’m not backing downI’ll take you on!Lexie shouted, her voice trembling with rage and fear.

Without thinking, she grabbed a big rock and hurled it straight at the beastman’s forehead.

She figured with his beastman body, he’d dodge it in a heartbeat. But to her shock, he didn’t even try to move -he just let her hit him.

The rock smashed right into his forehead, splitting his skin and sending blood streaming down his cheek.

After smashing him with the rock, Lexie didn’t dare throw another one. All she wanted was to get awayshe wasn’t trying to kill anyone, and she definitely didn’t want to get in trouble for it.

But she couldn’t bring herself to let go of the rock, afraid the beastman might hurt her if she did.

Just as Lexie was frozen in panic, the beastman finally spoke.

He wiped the blood off his face with a careless swipe, then said in a surprisingly gentle tone,

Your Tumblebeast isn’t dead. I barely used any strength. It’s just floating there, probably knocked out cold.

Hill, I came to find you because I need your help. You can see itmy lower half has already started to beastify.

If it gets any worse, and I fully beastify, I’ll lose my mind and turn into a wild animal.

And when that happens, I’ll die.

I don’t want to die, but I also can’t stand anyone seeing me like this. So please, Hill, I’m begging youcan you use your healing powers to help me out?

Please, I’m desperate. I’ll make it worth your while.

Lexie glanced at Tumblebeast still floating nearby, pushing down all her swirling thoughts. She forced herself to sound calm and cold.

I don’t need anything from you. Let go of me, and fish my Fluffy out of the lake.

If it’s fine, I’ll help you. But if you killed it, forget about me helping you. Not a chance.

Seeing how firm Lexie was, the beastman looked a bit uncertain and asked, testing the waters,

So, uhif I let you go, you won’t just bolt, will you?
