Arthur scoffed, “Dare they? Do they really think I’m just some regular doctor, or that the Cole family is easy to mess with?

“Besides, with how protective Lex is of me, if anyone actually tries something, all she has to do is say the word and it’s over for them.

“Even if they want to scheme against me, once Lex steps in, would they really still have the guts?

“And honestly, everything I’m doing is for the future of the Aetherion Interstellar Zone. With Lex’s status, she’s destined to be this place’s one and only salvation.

“With all the chaos between the Aetherion Empire and the Aetherion Federation, whatever happens to them, I honestly don’t care. But one thing’s for sure: no matter how bad things get, Lex can’t get dragged into this

mess.

“Alright, I’ll stop here. Serenus, there are still a lot of people keeping tabs on me. Just follow the route I gave you and get off Bolrasai Planet.

“Once you’re off Bolrasai Planet, don’t even think about going back to Lyson Planet. That’s your hometown, and after you left with Lex, anyone with half a brain could guess where you’d go.

“Remember, you have to do exactly as I say and stick to the route I set. Once I’ve shaken off these watchers, I’ll come find you and Lex. Got it?”

“Alright, alright, enough with the lecture,” Serenus said, sounding impatient.

He quickly hung up–he really didn’t want to listen to Arthur any longer.

‘Arthur’s beast form is a raccoon. It isn’t much to look at, but his skills are nothing short of impressive.

‘Both Kaelen and I are far from powerless. So why did Arthur see us as nothing but pawns to be used?

‘Still, being seen as useful by Arthur–being worth using–turned out to be my luck after all.

‘Otherwise, I never would have met Lexie.‘

When Serenus got to Lexie’s room, William had already finished packing her stuff and brought Serenus back with him.

“Let’s get moving,” William said. “Arthur wants us off Bolrasai Planet ASAP.”

Hearing that, Serenus glanced back at Lexie, who was trailing behind him.

Lexie was now wearing a new disguise–a mask that gave her brown hair and dark eyes, making her look like a nondescript little beastkin.

Standing next to the tall and imposing William, her tiny frame barely drew any attention.

Seeing Lexie in her new disguise, Serenus walked right up, grabbed her hand, and was about to head out with her.

“Let’s go,” he said. “Safe or not, you can’t stick around here anymore.”

Lexie didn’t even think about saying no.

But just as the three of them reached the door, Samuel Tucker and Eric Thorne came rushing back and blocked their way.

“William, where are you guys headed? Take us with you!” Samuel called out

“Yeah, we’re all in the same dorm! You can’t just bail and leave us behind!” Eric added.

Seeing the cryptic smiles on Samuel and Eric’s faces, William instinctively stepped in front of Lexie, shielding

her.

“We’ve got something to take care of. What do you two think you’re tagging along? Move aside, we’re leaving.” William said, his tone firm.

Samuel and Eric exchanged a glance, then without saying a word, pressed a metal badge into William’s hand.

William took the badge and looked closely at it. When he recognized the emblem, his eyes widened in shock.

“Are you guys with Arthur?” William blurted out.

“You got it,” Samuel replied.

“Obviously,” Eric chimed in.

The way Samuel and Eric said it, like it was the most normal thing in the world, made William and Serenus trade glances—the shock was plain as day in both their eyes.

“Wait, Samuel, aren’t you the heir to the Tucker family? Since when did you start working for Arthur?” William asked.

“Yeah, Eric, aren’t you the heir to the Thorne family? When did you end up as one of Arthur’s people too?

“If you’re with Arthur now, does that mean you’re giving up your spot as the future head of your family?” Serenus asked.

Samuel was the first to speak, then Eric chimed in.

“It’s simple. The Tucker family and the Thorne family have always been working for Arthur,

“Years ago, Arthur set us up here on Bolrasai Planet as his pieces on the board.

“Whenever Arthur needs us, we stick to the oath we made and do whatever it takes for him.

“Even if it means laying down our lives.”

Samuel’s explanation left William and Serenus stunned, but without absolute certainty, they weren’t ready to take their word for it.

Just to be safe, William pulled Lexie behind him and video–called Arthur.

“Arthur, are these two idiots really your people?”

He pointed the camera at Samuel and Eric, who were still blocking the doorway, giving them a wary look.

“That’s right, they’re with me. William, Samuel and Eric know Bolrasai Planet better than you.

“You and Serenus should take Lex and leave with Samuel and Eric. If anything happens, do everything to protect Lex and keep her hidden.

“Also, don’t forget to bring Lex’s purple fox and that little furball. Make sure you don’t leave them behind.”

“Got it,” William replied.

Now that Arthur had confirmed Samuel and Eric’s identities, William wasn’t about to waste any more time.

“Alright, you’re legit. Let’s get out of here, now,” he said.

With that, William crouched down and scooped Lexie up in one arm. As for the little fox and Tumblebeast, he just told them to follow along on their own.

‘They’re just a couple of dumb pets anyway. If they get lost, whatever,‘ William thought to himself.

But as soon as William started walking out with Lexie in his arms, the purple fox hopped right onto Tumblebeast’s back, hitching a ride.

William gave the fox a look, not sure whether to be amused or annoyed, then strode out with Lexie in his arms, following Samuel.

Samuel and Eric took them along hidden routes, so discreet that they didn’t run into a single patrol the whole

way.

It was clear Arthur had mapped this out ahead of time, avoiding busy areas and cleverly sidestepping any possible surveillance.

William clutched Lexie close, moving with steady purpose, his eyes sharp and alert for the slightest movement around them.

The purple fox and Tumblebeast trailed along–one leading, one following. They looked chill, but their tension was obvious.

As for Serenus, he kept to the back, eyes darting everywhere, worried sick that someone might try to snatch Lexie away at any moment.

They made it to the Bolrasai Planet port without any trouble. Samuel fished out the starship keys and hurried Lexie onto the ship.
