The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 203

Noelle Rowan.

“Thanks for dropping me off,” Serena said, kissing Nathaniel’s cheek. “You are going to take the kids to playgroup?”

“Mmmm,” he said, pulling Serena closer for another kiss.

A chuckle escaped her lips. She tried to push him away, but the man insisted.

They shared two quick pecks before Nathaniel said, “After the playgroup, I’m taking a chopper to Greyhold this afternoon. I won’t be back, but I will call tonight. Then, I’ll see you at the redesignation ceremony.”

Fort Greyhold was due to be renamed. The ceremony had been postponed for some time because of their busy schedules. This weekend, it was finally happening, and Nathaniel was looking forward to it.

The ceremony would not only commemorate his father, Neal, but it would also serve as Nathaniel’s official introduction to important military officials as Norman’s grandson.

“Okay,” she said, smiling. “I need to go. I’m going to be late for work.”

“One last kiss,” he begged, pulling her closer again.

His face looked so mischievous that Serena could not help but laugh.

Still, in the end, Serena could not say no to this handsome man. Who wouldn’t want to kiss him anyway?

After sharing one long kiss, they pulled away, breathless. Serena groaned, “I should have gotten up early to get a ride from my brother.”

Nathaniel simply chuckled. “Goodbye. I love you.”

She just smiled.

Nathaniel’s gaze darkened. He ordered the soldier who was driving them that day, “Lock the doors. My wife is not leaving this car until she says she loves me back.”

Serena, “...”

“Must we do this with witnesses?” she muttered.

Nathaniel remained unmoved.

Serena sighed. “Fine. I love you too. Happy?”

His eyes thinned further. “That wasn’t convincing.”

Serena narrowed her eyes. “You’re impossible.”

Nathaniel leaned back, clearly unimpressed.

Serena sighed before leaning over and kissing him again, slower this time.

When she pulled away, she murmured, “I love you. Very much.”

“Sure,” Silas said, deciding on the blue and lavender tie. He turned to her. “How do I look?”

Serena raised a brow and asked, “You look just like me?”

When Silas’s eyes narrowed, she laughed. “You look handsome as ever, Brother. I hope one day you will find your true love.”

It did not take long for the first meeting to happen.

Serena arrived a little late in the conference room, but that was okay. They were the client of HelixPoint, and it was their pleasure to be working with VanderMed Technologies.

“Good morning, Serena,” the project manager greeted with a smile.

Serena’s eyes brightened. Finally, Noelle Rowan was back. She hoped that whatever misunderstanding she had with Brian had finally been resolved.

Noelle was truly talented in AI technology. Aside from being brilliant, Serena had always thought she was beautiful. The only thing was that Noelle never cared much for sophisticated fashion. She usually wore simple long-sleeved blouses with A-line skirts.

Still, her long strawberry-blonde hair alone was enough to make people turn their heads.

Serena sometimes admitted she was slightly jealous of Noelle. Noelle’s career had always been fully devoted to AI technology, whereas Serena had to broaden her scope because her family’s business was rooted in the medical field.

Nonetheless, their shared passion for AI was what brought Serena and Noelle together during the creation of Vanguard. So, she really didn’t like how Noelle got fired.
