Silas’s Fears.
Back then, Silas felt excited, realizing that he and Noelle had shared an intimate moment.
But he quickly recognized something was off about what had happened that night.
When Silas looked around the room, he realized he was in the wrong room!
His gaze landed on the second keycard on the bedside table, and he understood that it belonged to Noelle.
Silas analyzed the whole situation—the waiter giving him the wine, the intern, and the man he had bumped into.
Clearly, someone had drugged him, but what about Noelle? If the keycard belonged to that man, what did it mean?
Had someone tried to sabotage him and possibly Noelle too?
Rage filled his chest at that point. His first instinct was to investigate the matter. He left Noelle for only half an hour simply to alert the hotel.
He yelled at the hotel manager and their security staff and threatened to sue them!
Silas called the police and his lawyers and swore whoever was responsible would pay!
The truth was, he was more enraged that someone had tried to put Noelle in a difficult situation.
When Silas came back to the room, Noelle was gone.
He searched the hotel for Noelle, only to find her in Brian’s arms at the lobby.
Nothing seemed off between them, which left him confused.
‘Should I approach her?’
‘Should I tell her?’
‘Did she even realize it was me?’
At that time, Silas’s mind was racing, but with Brian next to Noelle again, he did not want to cause her trouble.
At the same time, his parents were worried about his situation. Sterling insisted on taking him to the hospital.
Tests were done, and the police investigated.
Janice, the intern, disappeared all of a sudden.
The waiter admitted that the wine had been given to him, but claimed he never knew it contained an illegal substance.
There was also an employee who went AWOL, and some surveillance footage was deleted.
It was a tragic mess.
Because the investigation dragged on, Silas was only able to send someone to look into the Kingsley family weeks later.
He learned the painful news: Noelle and Brian were getting married.
Did Noelle realize she had slept with another man? Silas never knew.
Was there a misunderstanding? Perhaps, Silas considered every angle.
Silas had earnestly thought about approaching Noelle—to tell her he was the one she slept with that fateful night. But at the same time, he didn’t want to be the one to ruin her happiness.
If the truth came out, her reputation could be dragged into the mess as well.
Deep inside, even if he resented Brian, he knew who Noelle truly loved.
If he told her the truth, she might think he was lying to destroy her relationship with Brian.
And Silas would rather lose her than become someone she despised.
Moreover, Noelle might hate him more for the night they had shared. He did not want that. He did not mean for everything to happen that night. Silas had lost control.
