The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 214

Renaming Ceremony.

“Daddy!” Alisa ran the moment she saw Nathaniel from a distance.

She went at it so fast that even the soldiers were not able to chase after her. Guests and other military personnel within the crowd had to move aside to give way to Alisa.

“Ah, my little princess.” Nathaniel stretched his arms toward the little girl, and after she leaped into his arms, he spun her around.

“Me too! Me too!” Sebastian followed after.

Nathaniel ended up carrying the twins, spinning them around like they were on a carousel.

The kids were laughing while they held on to him for dear life.

“Ahhh! Daddy, stop!” Alisa screamed.

“Keep going! Keep going, Daddy!” Sebastian said. “Haha!”

Nathaniel finally stopped, kissing the kids on both cheeks. “I love you, and I miss you guys.”

“Is he the children’s father?” Noelle asked.

Only then had Serena noticed that Noelle was standing next to her. With a smile, Serena replied, “Yes, that’s Nathan. My ex-husband.”

Noelle smiled back. “They are really close.”

Serena nodded. “They connected so easily. I’m beginning to think the twins came with a built-in ‘dad detector.’”

Noelle’s brows drew together. “I guess kids can sometimes be much closer to their father.”

“No, it’s not always,” Celine chimed in, realizing where Noelle was going with the conversation. “I’m sure you raised your son well, Noelle. If there’s something we don’t understand right now, the truth will reveal itself in time.”

Celine moved forward first, greeting Nathan. Bianca and Sterling followed, walking past Serena and the others. After that, Nathaniel came up to Serena.

“Love, we will be seated at the very front,” he said, motioning to the front rows of the tiered bleachers, the kids still clinging around his waist.

They were in an open field with a grandstand that provided seating for guests and prominent military figures.

Serena made a face and looked down at the kids.

Sebastian and Alisa were like lost babies who had just found their father. They had puppy eyes and pouting lips.

“What can I say, the kids love me,” Nathaniel joked, leaning closer to kiss Serena’s lips. “But I miss my most favorite person the most.”

Serena flushed, but she hugged him anyway. After more than a day in the camp, Nathaniel smelled faintly of metal, leather, and the outdoors. He was like a man who had already blended in with the soldiers around him.

“Wow,” Noelle remarked. “You guys are so sweet.”
