The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 221

Buried Wishes.

“Nathan, Bianca, I have been meaning to ask you both,” Norman said while walking them out of the driveway. “The plaque here at the base was to honor Neal, but what if—what if we move his grave here? Have you seen the cemetery within the base? It’s a good place for Neal to rest.”

Norman hesitated before he mentioned, “I was even considering moving Rochelda’s grave.”

Nathaniel sucked in a deep breath. He looked down before glancing over at Bianca. His mother was obviously reluctant.

Norman was referring to his grandmother, Rochelda Vale Collins.

“Norman, we understand your intentions,” Bianca answered softly. “And we appreciate your efforts. We will think about Neal’s grave, but as for Rochelda, I think she is in her rightful place.”

“I’m sure you are aware that Rochelda met someone in her later years. His name was Cameron. He and Neal had a good relationship as well,” Bianca said. “Before Rochelda died, she had wished to be buried next to Cameron, and that’s what Neal did.”

Nathaniel nodded. From what he remembered, Rochelda never remarried, but she had a mutual relationship with a man named Cameron Turner. Rochelda and Cameron were two lovely souls who found each other in their late fifties.

Cameron was a widower and never had a child. He died of natural causes in his early sixties, and Rochelda followed two years later.

“The only reason Neal and Rochelda could not be buried in the same cemetery was that it was already full,” Bianca explained. “But we could not move Rochelda’s resting place either. To be with Cameron was a dying wish.”

“I—I understand,” Norman said, his voice shaking a little.

“Great-grandpa!” Sebastian suddenly ran out of the house and flaunted his new helicopter toy. “Thank you for my gift. Now, I think I want to be a soldier.”

Nathaniel nearly gulped at the idea.

His son? A soldier? While he respected the military, that was certainly the last thing he wanted for Bastin's future.

“Haha!” he tried to laugh it off, but he saw the gleam in Norman’s eyes.

The old man was looking forward to the idea.

Norman ruffled Sebastian’s hair and said, “I will personally save a spot for you at Northvale Military Academy.”

He looked up and smiled. “Even for Ali too. We will never know if she will also choose the same path as me.”

“Very funny, Grandpa,” Nathaniel said. It was his subtle way of saying he didn’t approve. He hoped Norman got it.

But Norman simply chuckled.

“You'd better head back,” Norman said. He turned to the soldiers and added, “Remember to drive safely. There’s heavy rain in Rexam right now.”

“Grandpa, thank you for accommodating us. It’s been a lovely stay as usual,” Serena said, walking behind Alisa. She hugged Norman, adding, “But we need to go.”

“I understand,” Norman said, rubbing Serena’s back.

Then the old man looked down at Alisa. He caressed her cheek and said, “You are my most beautiful great-granddaughter.”

Alisa giggled and smiled brighter. “Bye, great-grandpa.”

Nathaniel and his family hopped in the SUV quickly, but just as they settled, Serena revealed, “Something has happened to Noelle—something about her husband.”

Serena put on her seatbelt and added, “Silas called and wants to talk to you about investigating Brian Kingsley and Gwen Porter. I have this strange feeling and want to get there soon.”
