Slept Together By Accident.
At Rexam Medical Institute, Gwen was fuming.
'That bitch,' Gwen muttered silently as the nurse walked in. She was already tired. She and Brian had been in the hospital since the wee hours. She badly wanted to sleep, but how could she? Noelle never showed up!
Brian could not ask his in-laws to look after Benson either because that would only reveal how he had spent the night with her and not at his marital home.
Gwen’s parents weren’t at home either. They were out of town.
Since Noelle had not shown up, Gwen had tried to convince Brian that their housemaid should look after Benson. However, the latter refused. Earlier, he said, “We can’t leave our son in this state. If not Noelle, then we have to take care of him.”
“I’ll try to call Noelle again,” Brian said before stepping out of the room.
The nurse had checked Benson’s vitals and, after taking notes, he poured a red liquid into a medicine cup.
“Ma’am, kindly have the patient drink his medicine. This is an antiviral oral medication,” the nurse explained.
Gwen frowned. She said, “Okay.”
She stood up and accepted the medication.
Benson was half awake. Gwen walked over to his side and said, “Baby, you need to drink your medicine.”
“I don’t want to,” Benson replied softly.
“But you have to. How can you get better if you don’t?” Gwen reasoned.
The boy was wearing his oxygen mask. He sat up slowly with Gwen’s help. Then, with his shaking hands, he slowly drank his medicine. But he took so much time.
When he was done, Gwen urged him to drink water, and he did, just a little.
After that, he coughed. It started as a small cough, but it became violent… until—
“Llll!” Benson threw up on Gwen. Not only did he vomit his medication, but he also threw up dark acid!
Gwen was wearing designer clothes, and now they were ruined!
“Oh, my God! Disgusting!” Gwen’s eyes filled with fury. She shook Benson and scolded, “Why did you throw up on me? Do you know how much my dress cost? You can't even hold your medicine down?”
Benson was still coughing. Having been shaken by Gwen, he began to cry. "Daddy! Daddy!"
Brian happened to walk back in and saw Gwen’s actions.
“Stop it!” Brian scolded. “He is just a boy, and he is a sick kid! It’s normal for him to throw up when he’s sick!”
Gwen stomped her feet. She also cried, pointing to herself. “This is the Chanel dress you bought me in London. Now I smell like puke!”
“That’s nothing compared to what Benson is feeling right now!” Brian snapped. “Clean yourself up and ask the nurse to get someone to clean the floor.”
“Dad,” Benson wept in Brian’s arms. “Where’s Mommy? She usually takes care of me when I’m sick.”
“Calm down. It’s not good for you to keep crying,” Brian said, rubbing Benson’s back. “Let’s clean you up, and you’ll need to drink your medicine again.”
“But I want Mommy,” Benson cried.
“I don’t know what happened to your mom. I can't reach her, but I’m sure she’ll be here soon. She always comes for you. She loves you more than anything in the world,” Brian said.
Gwen rolled her eyes, watching the scene. She thought, 'Noelle, you better hurry, because if you don’t show up soon, I will make Brian teach her a lesson.'
How dare she not take care of Benson right now?
Of course, they did not know that Noelle was never showing up for Benson ever again.

Meanwhile, back at the Vander’s estate.
“Silas.”
“Silas.”
Serena’s voice softened. She spoke carefully. “I think Brian just felt obligated to take responsibility. From what I know, they slept together by accident seven years ago.”
Silas did not know why, but his heart raced. He asked, “They slept together by accident?”
“Yeah, they were attending an AI conference in a hotel here in Rexam, and she said she was so drunk and they slept together,” Serena explained. “Because of that incident, she got pregnant, and so Brian took responsibility. They got married!”
Silas’s world collapsed.
Seven years ago.
Noelle was drunk.
At an AI conference.
Wasn’t that conference the same night as the business summit when he—
His thoughts trailed off, unable to contain the loud pounding in his heart.
If that was the case, Noelle’s missing son is—
“Why are you so pale?” Serena asked.
Silas couldn’t speak.
His whole body was shaking from anger!
Instead, he walked back inside and watched Noelle sip on the soup.
When Noelle put the bowl back on the bedside table, she asked, “Is there something wrong?”
After Silas approached her, something—a force of some kind—pulled Silas down to his knees. His chest felt so heavy that a tear rolled down his face.
Without warning, Silas embraced her tightly.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Noelle,” he said. “Please forgive me. I did not mean for any of it to happen.”
