The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 245

Gwen’s Entry.

“Congratulations ahead, Gwen,” one of her friends, Lucy, greeted. “I’ve checked the competition, and your entry to the Local AI Trials is one of the best.”

“Aww.” Gwen hugged her friend. “You are too sweet. I can’t beat VanderMed Technology, though.”

Lucy leaned back, raising an eyebrow. “Well, they are a big company, Gwen. That’s okay. You’ll get there.”

“Yes, your entry sounds very promising,” Soren, Lucy’s boyfriend, commented.

“Thank you again. It’s still a prototype, but I plan to complete it before presenting it in France,” Gwen explained.

“Gwen! I came here to support you!” Another friend of hers arrived. It was Daisy.

Of course, being in the same field, Gwen had also seen some of her old college classmates, as well as professors who used to look down on her.

Now, they can only watch as Gwen would start her journey as a recognized, rising AI engineer in Rexam.

“Thank you for coming to support us,” Brian said, standing beside Gwen, proud.

He should be, because she was introducing the world’s very first universal AI translator and coordinator. She called it OmniSync Core.

Brian put his arm around Gwen, adding, “She’s been working really hard on this software.”

“I’m sure she’ll get the recognition she deserves,” Logan Redford, Brian’s best friend, said with a smile. He winked at Gwen, adding, “I bet OmniSync Core will be better than NOBRI.”

“It definitely will,” Gwen said, rolling her eyes. She always hated being compared to Noelle’s work.

Gwen received more and more recognition, and she basked in it until Logan whispered in Brian’s ear, “Noelle is here, by the way. She is now working for the Vanders. I think she is co-representing their entry.”

Hearing Logan, Gwen frowned. She never understood why the Vanders supported Noelle. What did they see in her? She was just as good as Noelle—no, even better—but why were they so adamant about working with her on their medical equipment? Were they blind?

“Don’t worry, Gwen,” Brian said. “You’ll gain credit for our entry. That’s when Serena and Silas will start to take you seriously. It’s just that they have worked with Noelle for a while now.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, please gather at the conference hall for the awarding ceremony,” one of the organizers called everyone’s attention.

They were at Rexam Grand Hotel, where booths had been set up around the second floor of the property. It was already past four in the afternoon. AI enthusiasts and venture capitalists surveyed the booths for potential investments, while judges evaluated each entry.

When Gwen and Brian, along with their friends, entered the conference hall, many recognized them. Gwen automatically circled her arm around Brian’s and raised her chin. Murmurs echoed around them.

“Gwen Porter and Brian Kingsley really look good together.”

She hated Noelle even more, recalling the way Edward Kingsley treated her and Brian.

Soon, the program began. The MC called the companies that had qualified for the local trials. This was meant to be the initial trial for the business summit in France.

“First place goes to VanderMed Technologies!” the MC announced. “And to present their entry, let us welcome Serena Vander and Noelle Rowan.”

Everyone clapped their hands, except for Gwen and her group.

Gwen rolled her eyes and said, “This is technically Serena’s work. Noelle probably just added a few lines of code to enhance it. She really did not do much for the massage chair.”

But much to her dismay, during the presentation of the massage chair, a significant amount of technical credit was given to Noelle.

The massage chair looked like something out of a spaceship. It was large and sleek, with a curved, reclining frame that cradled the entire body. Smooth panels wrapped around it like a protective shell, while adjustable segments supported the neck, back, and legs.

Serena played a video of the trials conducted within their company in the background. She said, “This was last week. Our massage chair could already perform the requested massages, but it needed enhancement.”

“This is Noelle Rowan,” Serena introduced. “She’s our new AI engineer for all our medical equipment. She enhanced the chair’s core algorithm. Our massage chairs can now adjust their strength and stretch range based on a user’s body weight.”

Serena once again motioned to the screen behind her. “We showed you how our massage chairs worked last week. This time, we want volunteers to experience our enhanced massage chair. Any volunteers?”
