The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 267

At that point, her heart was fluttering strangely.

Xavier guided her to the room next to Joan’s. He said, “Is it okay if we share a room? I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time.”

That was true. They had been very close back in college. During trips and even overnight study sessions, they often shared a room—sometimes with Serena, but other times, just the two of them.

“I’ll prepare a bath for you. While you are in the tub, I’ll whip up some noodles to make you feel better,” Xavier said.

Alice had a long, warm bath. She almost fell asleep, but Xavier knocked on the bathroom door. “You done?”

“Done!” Alice exclaimed.

“Need help?” Xavier asked.

“A little,” she admitted.

Xavier walked in carrying a towel. He handed it to her and closed his eyes. “Rest assured, I won’t take advantage.”

She just laughed as she got up. Alice even held his arm as she exited the tub for balance. After wrapping herself with a towel, Xavier helped her out of the bathroom.

“I have a shirt and shorts?” he chuckled at what he had offered.

He actually gave her a pair of boxer shorts, plus his long-sleeved shirt.

Alice made a face, and he laughed harder.

“Let me shower." He pointed to the noodles and said, “Eat.”

Alice wore Xavier’s shirt and boxers. Then, she warmed her stomach with the noodles. As she did, she did not miss the moans and groans from the other room.

“Seriously?” Alice muttered.

The longer she listened, the louder the sounds seemed to echo through the walls. For a high-end penthouse, the walls were surprisingly… uncooperative when it came to keeping secrets.

“Ah!”

“Yeah, right there!”

“Keep your tongue on my clit.”

“There!”

Alice, “...”

She blushed and grabbed her phone. She texted Joan: [Keep it down, girl!]

But Joan’s moans only grew louder. Obviously, she had no time to read her texts.

“Yes!”

"I'm coming! I'm coming!"

“Fuck me! Fuck me hard!”

Xavier exited the bathroom just in time to hear his cousin’s scream. He made a face and said, “That’s just wrong.”

Alice covered her ears, but they were no help. Instead, she lay on the bed and covered her face with a pillow. “I’m embarrassed.”

Soon, she felt the dip in the bed. Xavier was beside her. “You feel better?”

“A little,” she said, still hiding under the pillow.

“Well, let’s just try to sleep,” he suggested.

There was a lot of kissing, ass-grabbing, breast-suckling, and moans.

Moans from the other bedroom and moans from the TV.

Get it? There was a lot!

Alice’s core tingled. Worse, she began to imagine doing these naughty things with Xavier. 'Fuck! What the fuck!'

She hadn’t realized it yet, but she had moved closer and closer to Xavier, and the same could be said of him.

Alice turned to Xavier and caught him staring at her.

She froze.

Without his glasses, Xavier looked incredibly handsome, and even more so when he gulped, and his Adam’s apple bobbed.

Alice had always admired Xavier as more than a friend, but she had always held herself back, knowing he had feelings for Serena. But now that Xavier had moved on, she wondered if it was an opportunity worth exploring.

She did not know how long they were staring at each other, but she also felt the intensity of Xavier’s gaze.

Neither of them moved at first.

But neither of them pulled away either.

His gaze dropped to her lips.

And that was all it took.

Before she knew it, they both went in for a kiss.
