The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 284

Right Here... With Me.

“Mr. Thorne, we have inspected Doctor Hermione’s home. She had lots of printed images of you from news reports and magazine features,” the soldier in charge of the case shared.

“Her phone has many of the same images of you. She even has notes of your businesses and high-level executives’ contact information who are working for you. Her email history shows attempts to contact your offices as well,” the soldier added. “It’s safe to say her attempt to hurt your wife was… about you.”

Serena made a face upon hearing that. She glared at Nathaniel and scolded, “Be careful now. Being a gentleman isn’t always that great.”

Nathaniel leaned back in his seat.

They were in Serena’s office. Nathaniel was working there. At the same time, he was helping her with the paperwork.

“The doctor is pleading for forgiveness,” the soldier reported.

“There will be no forgiveness. She tried to have my child aborted and pressured Serena into getting surgery. Who knows what could have happened during the surgery? She doesn’t deserve to be a doctor,” Nathaniel answered firmly, his jaw tightening.

Silas happened to be there as well. He wanted to hear the soldier’s report. He frowned and said, “I have also met Hermione before. I can’t believe she was that vicious!”

“Well, that’s over now. We can just focus on the wedding,” Serena said.

That was because Serena and Nathaniel’s wedding was due in two weeks and would be held at The Rexam Luminara Hotel.

Nathaniel had rushed it, especially after learning she was pregnant. In fact, if it were up to him, he wanted Serena to sign the marriage certificate before the wedding itself. But to Serena, it was only a few weeks’ difference. She wanted the signing of their marriage certificate to be meaningful.

A knock on the door interrupted their conversation.

Noelle walked in, announcing, “Great news. The lawyer called. My divorce has been finalized.”

Silas stood up, grinning like a fool. He and Noelle embraced before he spun her around in Serena’s office.

“I guess this means there’s going to be another wedding,” Serena suggested.

Noelle flushed as she pulled away from Silas. She did not say anything.

Although it was already agreed that they would marry, Serena understood. Silas should initiate. However, she wasn’t worried. She knew her brother was planning something.

“Of course, we will get married.” Silas took Noelle’s hand. “Not just for Theo, but for us. I simply want to give way to my sister a little bit.”

Noelle smiled. “I agree. Serena and Nathan should have their moment.”

The Rexam Luminara Hotel.

Late in the afternoon, the entire family attended the food tasting for Serena and Nathaniel’s wedding. The Hartleys were there too, including Xavier.

“Wow, this chicken is the best!” Sebastian said.

“Yeah, I like it too,” Theo said, beaming.

“Really?” Alisa asked. She hesitated, but then Theo put a piece of chicken onto her plate. “Go eat it, Ali.”

They were eating sautéed chicken breasts in teriyaki sauce. It was new to Alisa, and for kids like her, trying new food was always a challenge.

Alisa ate her food. When the flavors exploded in her mouth, she smiled. “It’s yummy! Thank you, Theo.”

Theo suddenly hugged Alisa and Sebastian. The kids were seated next to each other. “I really missed you guys.”

The adults laughed. Noelle said, “Theo? You still see your cousins every day.”

Although Noelle and Silas had moved to their penthouse, Celine still picked Theo up after his homeschool program. For now, he continued his lessons at home, but he would attend a regular school in the coming school year.

“All the food is amazing,” Alice said. “Congrats, Serena and Nathan. I’m sure the wedding will be spectacular.”
