Rochelle and Collin.
“How is she?” Celine asked.
Nathaniel stared into Celine’s eyes and said, “She’s about to deliver. Don’t worry, her doctors and I will take care of her.”
“Tell her we are all waiting outside,” Sterling said.
“Bianca just called," Celine shared. "She is on her way with the kids. Silas and Noelle are just wrapping up a few things and will leave for Velmon in a few hours.”
“I will tell Serena,” Nathaniel replied.
It was eight in the morning, and everyone was at the research institute.
Nathaniel walked back into the operating room after updating Serena's parents.
While the Thorne Neurological Sciences Institute was designed as a brain research and treatment facility, Nathaniel had converted one of its operating rooms into a delivery room. This allowed Serena to be confined and observed until her procedure, which was scheduled for two weeks later.
For almost two months, the pressure on Serena’s brain had been affecting her. Thus, her doctors all agreed for her to have the surgery shortly after giving birth.
Nathaniel put on a scrub suit and washed his hands thoroughly. When he approached his wife, the doctor said, “She’s under anesthesia. We’re about to begin the C-section.”
“Nathan, hold me,” Serena said, looking a bit drowsy.
“I’m here, love. You are doing great,” he said, leaning in to kiss her forehead. “You look so beautiful.”
Serena laughed. “You are lying. I probably look like shit.”
“No, love, you are the most beautiful woman in the world, and you are giving birth to my children,” he said, smiling.
“Baby boy Thorne is out,” the doctor announced, followed by a loud cry.
Nathaniel looked up, his heart racing as he watched his son being cleaned by the nurses.
It did not take long for one nurse to walk over to the couple, resting the baby on Serena’s chest.
“Oh, he’s so handsome,” Serena cried, caressing the baby’s head.
“He is breathing well and looks healthy. We’ll do a more thorough check in a bit. For now, we’ll place him on your chest,” the pediatrician said.
Another cry echoed in the air. The doctor announced, “Baby girl Thorne is out! She looks very healthy too!”
Nathaniel breathed a sigh of relief. A tear rolled down his cheek as the nurses rested their daughter on Serena’s chest.
Serena’s doctors tried to delay her delivery for the sake of their son, who was weeks behind in development. Thankfully, they pulled through, and both their babies were healthy.
“Thank God,” Nathaniel said, leaning down to kiss both babies’ heads. "We did it."
“Thank you, love, for helping me get through this,” Serena said, crying for joy while holding her twins. "They are just so beautiful."
“Well, do you have their names?” the pediatrician asked. “They look so adorable.”
Serena and Nathaniel looked at each other. It was Nathaniel who said, “Yes, it’s Rochelle Thorne and Collin Thorne.”
“Beautiful names,” the doctor said, smiling. “Well, it’s time for me to check on Collin and Rochelle.”
It took almost two hours before Serena was moved to her suite. Shortly after that, her family came in to visit with gifts and food for her to eat.
Even Silas, Noelle, and Theo, who had finally made it to Velmon, turned up. Only Alice and Xavier could not make it because they were the ones looking after the company.
And since the facility belonged to Nathaniel, the kids were allowed to visit. They came with Bianca.
“Where are my babies?” Sebastian asked the second he saw the room without them.
Alisa did not say anything, but her eyes scanned every corner of the room, clearly expecting to see her siblings inside.
Theo laughed, and the rest of the adults did as well.
“They are coming, Bastin,” Nathaniel said. “Don’t worry.”
While waiting for the new babies, Theo approached Serena and embraced her from the bed. He said, “It feels like I’m getting a baby brother and sister too.”
Serena smiled at Theo after pulling away. She said, “They will be like your brothers and sisters, like Ali and Bastin.”
Then she winked at him. “Don’t worry, when you are ready, your dad and mom will give you siblings too.”
Nathaniel laughed, and while Noelle flushed, he caught Silas’s confident smile.
