Chapter 92: The Couple’s Photo Booth

The Couple’s Photo Booth.

“Ahhh!”

“Nathan, stop-Ahh!” Serena screamed because Nathaniel and Ali purposely bumped into their car.

“Mommy! Get back at Daddy and Ali!” Sebastian ordered. He tried to take the wheel, but Serena urged him back down. It wasn’t safe for him to get up.

The kids had been to the theme park twice before, but this visit felt more experiential because they didn’t have to line up for the rides.

Milo and Clark, the bodyguards, also participated in the bumper cars, adding to the children’s amusement.

Serena and her family had never thought of closing an entire park for the twins. At best, they would go on weekdays. To them, it was unnecessary.

But Nathaniel did it… because he owed the kids so much.

Alisa stayed wrapped around Nathaniel through four rounds of bumper cars, smiling the whole way. Somewhere between the laughter and the rides, a few words slipped out of her.

After the bumper cars, they tried the easier rides. They went on the merry-go-round and took pictures while they were at it. Serena even offered to take photos of Nathaniel and the kids.

But as she did, she couldn’t help noticing the fine lines at the corners of his eyes, the genuineness of his smile, and the way his eyes seemed to glisten when he looked at the children. The faint stubble along his jaw, and the way it sharpened his features and made his smile look even more dangerous than it had any right to be.

It irritated Serena a bit because it reminded her of how attractive Nathaniel was.

She had already taken the shot, but she lingered on the camera frame a little longer.

“Serena? All good?” Nathaniel finally called.

“Yep! All good,” she said, handing his phone back.

After reviewing the photos, Nathaniel glanced at her, a faint smirk forming on his lips. “I’ll send you the photos later.”

When she frowned, Nathaniel laughed, looking even more handsome. “So you can have the pictures of Sebastian and Ali.”

“Right,” Serena said.

Soon, Bianca finally showed up. She became their official photographer as they rode the mini train and played the carnival games. They tried the balloon pop game, where Sebastian had a blast.

Ali especially loved the bubble wand station. They lingered there longer than anywhere else. Nathaniel didn’t try to direct her or rush her along; he simply watched as Alisa followed each bubble, as if the world had slowed just for her.

It prompted Serena to take photos of Alisa and Nathaniel, unknowingly smiling at how they silently bonded.

She hadn’t even noticed Bianca smiling at her. When Serena caught her gaze, she flushed, a bit ashamed at having been caught.

Bianca, on the other hand, just smiled. “We should always be happy for our children,” she said. “Sebastian and Ali look very happy.”

A tear threatened to fall from Serena’s eyes, but she smiled it away.

They all took an hour-long break for lunch. Nathaniel said, “Guys, we need to rest our feet and our bodies. After this, we’ll rest again on the river cruise.”

The park had a small river trail where children and adults could ride a slow-moving boat and simply watch the scenery along the way. Ali and Sebastian fell asleep, so Nathaniel asked the staff to let them stay on for as many rounds as possible to give the kids more rest.

After an hour on the boat, it was finally time to wake the twins. They stopped by a few souvenir shops first, and that was when Sebastian noticed a couple’s photo booth ride.

It was a mini roller coaster that glided through a tunnel-like course, carrying couples or small groups through several short sections where photos were taken. Screens embedded along the tunnel lit up with instructions on where to look and how to pose.

“Mommy, this looks fun,” Sebastian pointed out. The idea of having many pictures of himself and playing coy excited him.

When Alisa saw it, she nodded. She turned to Nathaniel and tugged at his shirt. “Daddy.”

She pointed at the photo booth ride.

Nathaniel crouched to Alisa’s level. He smirked and asked, “What do you want to tell Daddy? Can you say it for me?”

At first, Alisa made a face. Her nose flared, but she took a deep breath and said, “Daddy, I want that.”

“Okay then. Let’s go,” Nathaniel said, taking Alisa’s hand.

“Do you mind if I sit this one out?” Bianca said. “My butt hurts from sitting on the boat earlier.”

“Sure, Mom. Wait for us at the coffee shop,” Nathaniel answered.

“Is it okay?” Serena asked. “It’s a couple’s photo booth.”

The staff in charge overheard her and happily replied, “It’s okay!” He glanced at their matching shirts and add “You are a family!”

Serena didn’t think much of it, but later, she would somehow regret the decision to walk into that simple photo booth.

The ride didn’t take long. There were about ten stations. Most of the time, they stayed in the cart, smiling or making funny poses as cameras flashed. At certain points, mascots popped out-Cupid, cherub figures, or cartoon animal couples-while glowing heart decorations lit up the tunnel.

It was entertaining, and the kids enjoyed it, but Serena had never anticipated that the last station would require her to act beyond what she was prepared to do.

On their last stop, a mechanical female voice spoke, “Turn to the camera and share a couple’s kiss. Warning: No kiss, no exit.”
