Faced with his daughter's blunt question, Mr. Donald shifted uncomfortably.
Seeing her husband's guilty expression, Mrs. Donald frowned sharply. "Arthur, are you really still giving them money?"
"I knew his father for years. I was just helping them out privately..."
"Are you out of your mind? Why are you still bailing them out? If Caleb's father hadn't dragged you into his shady business deals, we wouldn't have lost so much money in the first place! The entire Langdon family is rotten. When are you going to learn your lesson?"
Listening to her father, Nova's gaze turned somber.
It was exactly the same as her past life.
Because he had been friends with Caleb's father, Mr. Donald had secretly funneled money into The Langdon Corporation, keeping the doomed company afloat for an extra six months!
Mrs. Langdon had ruthlessly exploited her father's kindness, using it as leverage to trap her into marrying Caleb.
In the end, the Langdons acted like parasites, draining The Donald Group dry. Once her family was completely stripped of their value, Caleb tossed them aside like trash.
That was the reality of the Langdon family. That was Caleb.
"Dad, you need to pull the funding immediately. I've heard the Langdons are completely underwater and owe a massive amount of debt. If their creditors find out we've been backing them, they'll show up at our door."
Hearing the word 'creditors,' Mr. Donald's face drained of color. Anyone in the business world knew that those kinds of debt collectors were ruthless.
Nova pushed harder. "Besides, you saw how Caleb acted tonight. He clearly despises the idea of us helping them. If he hates it that much, why should we bother?"
Mrs. Donald nodded in firm agreement. "Nova is right. Caleb is an ungrateful brat who treats our daughter like dirt. We owe them absolutely nothing."
Mr. Donald finally sighed and nodded. "You're right. I'll make the calls the minute we get back and cut off all funding. I won't let those parasites drag us down with them."
