"The Xavier business is completely ruined."
Mrs. Xavier let out a tragic, hollow laugh over the phone. The wind was picking up, howling into the microphone and creating a piercing static.
Nora instantly sensed something was wrong.
That rushing, biting wind sounded entirely too open and freezing. It was impossible to hear that inside the sealed corridors of the ICU.
"Mom! Where are you? Don't scare me! Are you with Nathan?!"
Nora screamed in panic, sheer terror welling up in her eyes.
"Why is the wind so loud? Don't do anything stupid! Wait for me!"
"I'm on the roof of the inpatient building," Mrs. Xavier replied calmly.
"Nora, Mom can't hold on anymore."
"I've never suffered such humiliation in my life, and I couldn't protect you or Nathan... This is all my fault."
"Your dad is gone, the Xavier family's life's work is destroyed, and we can't even find a place to stay in The Metropolis. The whole world is cursing our family. I can't live like this."
"No! Mom! The plagiarism claims are fake! I was framed! Those news stories are just people trying to ruin me! Mom, listen to me, just wait for me!!"
"I know you were framed... You're my daughter, how could I not know? I know you're a good kid, and you've suffered so much at the Hayes family these past few years..."
Nora was sprinting down the street, tears blurring her vision, her voice so shrill and desperate that pedestrians turned to stare.
"I'm coming to you right now! Please listen to me, come down from there!"
Nora sobbed, her face drenched in tears. "You still have me, you still have Nathan! Our family can leave The Metropolis and start over somewhere else! Please, just leave me one family member!"
An empty taxi slammed on its brakes by the curb.
Nora yanked the door open and stumbled into the backseat.
"Metropolis Central Hospital! Hurry! Please, drive as fast as you can!"
Nora screamed at the driver, her voice tearing.
"I have nothing left! I only have you! Don't leave me behind! I'm almost there! Wait for me! Please wait for me!"
She kept the phone pressed tightly against her ear.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
