The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 433

This was the debt Julian was collecting on behalf of Giselle.

...

Inside the hospital's underground morgue.

Two metal gurneys were parked side by side in the center of the room.

Glaring fluorescent lights beat down from above. Two stark white sheets draped from head to toe, concealing the broken remains of what had once been lives.

Just hours ago, the Xavier family had been whole.

Now, all that was left were these two freezing stretchers.

Nora's black clothes were stained with blood. Her arms hung stiffly at her sides, the broken bones in her fingers and palms pulsing with a piercing, dull ache that crawled all the way up her nerves.

She couldn't even muster the strength to reach out, lift the white sheets, and look at her parents one last time.

Nathan stood on the opposite side of the gurneys.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he was taking massive, heavy breaths, his chest heaving violently.

He stared intensely at the two white sheets, his hands gripping the metal rails of the gurney so tightly that his knuckles turned a ghastly white.

He lifted his head, his gaze shooting straight across the stretchers to land on Nora.

Nora met his eyes.

She was waiting for his outburst.

She was waiting for him to lunge at her, scream curses, pin all the blame on her, and accuse her of murdering their parents.

Nathan's jaw clenched.

The young man's fists were balled up, the sheer force turning his joints a terrifying, pale blue.

He parted his chapped lips, the veins in his neck bulging.

He looked at Nora's pale, emaciated, bruised face and her completely crippled hands.

But the vicious curses caught in his throat, choking him so badly he couldn't breathe.

He wanted to blame it all on her.
