He stared down at Janie Fisher, who was huddled in the corner, trembling violently, a flash of mockery passing through his eyes.
"Money? Do you honestly think you'll live long enough to spend whatever Pierce Corporation gave you?"
At the mention of 'Pierce Corporation,' the blood froze in Janie's veins.
Her eyes widened in absolute disbelief, her terrified gaze darting back and forth between the men in black surrounding her.
"Julian sent you? Impossible! I just did exactly what he asked. I completely ruined Nora! He promised he would let me go! He promised!"
Janie shook her head frantically, desperately trying to deny the brutal reality staring her in the face.
"I got it done! The public backlash is everywhere, and Nora's reputation is entirely destroyed! Julian promised to pay me the rest of the money and send me out of the country!"
The scarred man chuckled darkly, leaning forward just a fraction.
"Mr. Pierce did promise to pay you."
He casually adjusted the edge of his leather glove, his tone dripping with cruelty. "But he never promised you'd get to keep your life."
Slowly, the man drew a thin, lethal wire garrote from his waist, wrapping both ends firmly around his hands and pulling it taut. It let out a sickening, high-pitched *twang*.
Janie felt as though she'd been plunged into freezing water, her entire body seized by uncontrollable tremors.
"Miss Fisher, your part in this play is over. Mr. Pierce was highly satisfied with your performance at the hospital earlier."
The scarred man stared at her, his gaze turning venomous.
He wrapped the deadly, cold-gleaming wire twice around his leather-clad wrists.
"However, Mr. Pierce gave us specific instructions. Back when you worked at Lawrence Atelier, you had the nerve to slap Giselle with your right hand."
Those words dropped from his lips like a grim reaper's verdict, entirely shattering the last of Janie's delusions.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
