Nora leaned back against the heavy wooden door, her body completely drained of strength. She slid down the panels until she collapsed onto the plush carpet.
Pulling her knees to her chest, she buried her pale face in her arms.
Her body shook uncontrollably as muffled sobs echoed sporadically through the empty, luxurious room.
She squeezed her eyes shut, but the image of Gideon's scarred, blood-drenched arm kept flashing through her mind.
If he really didn't know what Julian had done to her...
If the atrocity that destroyed her hands wasn't his command, but a private revenge Julian executed behind his back...
Then the burning hatred she had chewed on day and night for the past two years—the very thing that had given her the strength to drag herself through life like a walking corpse in that southern town—had suddenly lost its strongest foundation.
Nora trembled involuntarily.
Those horrific scars on Gideon's arm were seared into her memory like a branding iron.
She thought back to two years ago.
After the heavy rain at Westside Memorial Park, in that dark room at The Hayes Manor...
Gideon had sat in a blinding pool of blood, gripping a sharp shard of glass.
He had muttered frantically, trying to drain his own blood in a delusional bid to save the already-dead Giselle.
The memory of that night merged perfectly with the arm she had just seen.
During the two years she was gone, in those silent, unseen nights, how many times had he mutilated himself in the dark?
How many moments of utter despair did it take to carve such a dense web of scars into a single arm?
Just moments ago, the shock and panic swirling in his eyes when he saw her crippled hands couldn't have been faked.
The agonizing heartbreak he displayed as he fell to one knee on the hard floor, cradling her hands and weeping, couldn't have been a performance.
He truly hadn't known.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
